Game Development Thoughts

Your support is very helpful and motivating!

Hi!

Even though, at the moment, I am temporarily not actively developing games and creating new images, I don't want to completely disappear from view. I want to share some of my thoughts right now.

My offline work is physical, not intellectual, and this allows me to sometimes think about all sorts of different things while I'm working.

In particular, I think a lot about the game Size Difference World and its future development. I get a lot of criticism from people who have access to the working build of the game. Most criticism is about the poor character development and story. This is despite the fact that I've said many times that this is the very, very beginning of the game, and it's too early to talk about any story. Yes, this beginning has been in the making for a very, very long time. But I've talked about this topic many times too. In general, this game, at the very beginning, was not intended to be something deep and global. The main feature of the game was supposed to be size-difference images. The plot, according to the idea, was supposed to play a secondary role.

However, in the process of development, the plot began to appear by itself. In addition, at one stage of development, there was a man who helped a little with the script. Nevertheless, even this did not save the game. The development of a large story game is the work of a team, not a single mother with two children, with scant programming knowledge and very little free time.

For comparison, the development of the simple platformer Final Exam took over a year. And that's only the development time of the light version of Final Exam. But if we take into account the full development, with all the changes and modifications of the game (those who have been following me for a long time, you know), then this time will be several years. The original Final Exam game had a lot of interesting features. Plus, there were going to be completely different depictions of characters and environments.

And even if I had implemented all of that into Final Exam, and spent many years implementing it all, it would still be a much simpler game than Size Difference World. So how long could it take to create a Size Difference World game? I'm afraid I don't have enough life to complete the development of this game.

I don't want to stop developing this game at all. However, in order to complete it, there will be some changes and simplifications.

First, I want to abandon the RPG Maker engine in favor of Construct 3. During the time I've been developing Final Exam, I've gotten to know Construct 3 pretty well, realizing that it has a lot more features than RPG Maker. Second, I plan to add more action to the Size Difference World game. Let the story be of a secondary nature, like in the old games from 8-bit and 16-bit consoles. The main feature will still be the concept of size-difference between characters. Appropriate size-difference images will illustrate this.

What will come out of this, time will tell. Right now, at the moment, regular creation of new content is on forced pause due to my extreme burnout.

Attached is a billet for new female characters in the game. I bought these sprites at some point, and these were the images that were the basis for the female characters in the Final Exam game. Unfortunately, the original sprites only have one kind of hairstyle, so I will have to draw new hair in the future.

One of the files is a gif animation. I don't know if it will play, but I'm adding it to the attachment just in case.

Thank you so much to everyone who supports me. Believe me, I'm not forcing anyone at all, and I'm not trying to enrich myself through donations. Support is purely voluntary. But it helps a lot in further content development.
