Something I’ve been working on with my BDD is looking at different angles of my face. It’s extremely normal for people to think they have a “best” angle; I think most of us feel that way. BDD is a little different: the illness makes you see angles differently than most, being that there really is no good angle. In fact, every angle is unflattering, weird, abnormal, etc. It’s almost like being unfamiliar with your body/face. So here’s a few angles I wouldn’t normal take photos of, and a tease-y lil video.
The more I look at myself, the easier it gets. It’s like you have to “get used” to how you look because with BDD, your brain just doesn’t process how you see yourself correctly. It makes you hyper focus and obsess over minor things, or in some cases, flaws that aren’t even there. But with exposure therapy and continue to practice with a camera and mirror, it does improve. Thank you for all of your support, I know this is an unorthodox way of using OF, but I think I also think it’s a badass way to combat body image problems.
