Life update and NYC housing reflection over here in Big Dawg's Garden xxx

I have spent the last 30 days tweaking out because I lost my housing: perhaps my fault for being stoned and not being on top of lease renewal, at least partially the fault of this brutal New York City capitalist landlord economy that was looking for any reason to kick us out so they could raise rent before the MAMDAMI FREEZE!

Thankfully, I immediately sobered up and entered this housing tweak out more stable than I've historically been, so the dip into insanity was only up to the knees in shallow waters. I stood strong in the waves of fear AND GUESS WHAT!!! I LOCKED IN AND SECURED MY DREAM APARTMENT AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! (I will post photos once I'm back there).

It's a crazy feeling to be moving into a home that I would be comfortable staying for a long time. Since moving to NYC two years ago from my little home city of Minneapolis, I have resided in 4 apartments, each of them different levels of temporary.

  1. SUNNYSIDE QUEENS 9.14.24 to 3.1.25
A cute neighborhood and honestly a really nice apartment, but frankly was a cave of isolation that both healed and harmed me, sober, coming to grips with transness among the upper middle class old people of tree filled Queens, and my huge roommate accidentally stepped on my cat twice?

  2. MYRTLE/BROADWAY BUSHWICK 3.1.25-3.1.26
This was my relapse psych ward that both brought me back to life and almost killed me. My deeply intimate relationship with my hot headed musically gifted sex symbol roommate who I hardly see anymore still plagues me. But hey, I became a real gay here, got laid quite a bit, enjoyed getting fucked up sometimes, I can at least romanticize the really bad moments where I was smoking cigs from my bed despite that choice directly disrespecting my roommate. I met a lot of people who became real friends through it all. Many a ups downs with my ex lover that I would like to believe I learned from. The end of this apartment was traumatic and nearly launched me into homeless psychosis, but I survived, and that's what Bushwick is all about.

  3. DOG SITTING IN RIDGEWOOD 3.1.26-4.1.26
A very brief and peaceful stint receiving free housing in exchange for watching a beautiful Great Dane in a gorgeous, old, Ridgewood farmhouse. Role played sweet domesticity with my ex. Spent the whole month seeing a calm, stable life is possible while locking in for my first ever JFL audition. A meaningful time, but was not my life, I was just a tourist.

  4. DEEP CHAUNCEY BUSHWICK 4.1.26-8.24.26
AND BACK TO MY BUSH-SICK REALITY! The song Hotel California took on a whole new meaning. As much as I will hate on this apartment, it did save me. I got extremely lucky, only had about $900 to my name and ended up being able to secure an $830 room without security deposit that happened to be a 5 minute walk from my ex's place, where I had stored all of my stuff. The price came with 3 roommates, a tiny bedroom, and one of the most disgusting kitchen/living room/bathroom combos I've ever seen, but I busted my ass to make my room livable, and I befriended and teamed up with the lovely Russian chef roommate. We worked together to bring that place from an E living condition to a strong C. I was looking forward to continuing that journey with her, oh how I adored that woman BLYAT, but alas, some things are meant to end.

  5. BEAUTIFUL RENT CONTROLLED LONGTERM HOUSING IN CROWN HEIGHTS
    8.24.26 to ???
And here we are. New place, new journey, I'm sober, as locked in as I can be, handling my fear and deviant urges, channeling it all for good, what will this bring?

ONLY GAWD KNOWS! (I feel comfortable praying to "Gawd" my faggy God ya feel?)
