Oh I see. This isn't a story of 3 friends overcoming stuff, this is Suvi's villain origin story. Because seriously, wtf
I was already crying and then the MUSIC CUE WHEN EURSELON AND HIS SISTER HUG 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 got me sobbing at work bruh!!
Same, had to run to the bathroom so I wasn't crying in front of my coworkers while eating my lunch
I am literally sobbing 😭
Re-listening and crying again, good to know if I need a good cry I can come back here to find Eurselon meeting his family
Im so glad I was on my lunch break when Eursulon got to the tree because I CRIED SO HARD! Omg, being in my car I was able to just let go and enjoy it. So excited to be catching up on these because it’s incredible and I’m lucky to be able to binge so many before I catch up!
All the gifts of love Stolen, shouldered, and at work Stronger when tested Bonus because the lines were too good not to: You were on your way Magic at your disposal You want a sky ship?
great episode
This episode left me dehydrated. Jesus.
This episode - honestly, this entire show - has made me realize what TTRPGs as a mechanism for collaborative storytelling actually means. Just 4 close friends imagining and playing together in a safe place to create and be vulnerable and see what happens. To be a safe place for each other and to do it at a level with immense confidence that you share it with the world. Actual plays feel so new and revolutionary and refreshing until you realize that this is one of the oldest modes of storytelling there is. It is quite inspiring!
Cooking up some miso butter charred cabbage and salting it with my big fat tears. I feel all involved would approve.
#UnofficialCookbook approved!
Here I am painting a mural in a bathroom, CRYING WHILE PERCHED ON A BATH TUB. I had to come here to see who else was openly sobbing over this episode.
I'm sobbing over this while painting a mural, too! I kept having to hide my leaking face behind my arm while people walked by 🥹.
Sobbing
BRENNAN!!!! YOU CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!.!.!.!!@!!!!!!!! I AM SOBBING. WHY . THIS . KALIYAH. YOU CAN'T. THIS OLD WOMAN. THIS GRANDMA. MAN. I HAVE PUT OFF LISTENING TO THIS ONE AND BOY DID IT PACK A PUNCH.
Holy Okefenokee Swamp, that was an amazing arc finale. Glad I could finally find the time and the right headspace to listen. That reunion - wow, wow, wow. Now on to listen to all the talkbacks…
Kaliah and ursulon had me sobbing. Oh my. I love this podcast 😭❤❤
beautiful as always (,: unsure if this has been brought up before but i just wanted to bring up that xiao is commonly mispronounced in the west as "zh-ow", x is pronounced as "sh" in the chinese transliteration so it would be "sh-ee-ow" (not a bash on the cast at all! just wanted to bring up a common misconception)
The sound design (and the absence of sound!) in this episode punctuate the shifts in character perspective in startling yet welcome ways - Taylor for MVP!!
I saved this for when I had a good long drive cause I knew it would wreck me and oh my gods, i teared up several times cause its BEAUTIFUL but Kaliah and Ursulon's reunion had me fully sobbing ugly crying, they love each other SO MUCH aaahHHHHH
I freaking KNEW it, it knewwwww not to listen to this at work today, and DAMN was that a good call. This world is precious, wonderful, flawed, and nuanced. I cannot wait for Arc 3 🩵❤️💛 Crackle crackle ✨
After the last episode I was truly terrified of listening to this one - the consequences of the uproar in the Citadel have been weighing heavily on me. The sheer relief from Mum (Steel) not being mad made me cry. I’m listening a second time to enjoy the story and sound this time!!
I really appreciated the editors who removed the time it takes to roll and calculate attacks/damage during Eursolon's scuffle. Made the combat actually feel like the turns were actually 6 seconds each.
Absolutely wonderful and devastating episode. Had me sobbing as I did some household chores and just thinking about Kalliah and Eursolon has me tearing up. Can't wait for more from you wonderful folks!
FINALLY getting to this episode and I simply MUST express my gratitude to Erika for their inclusion of really subtle cultural details. As a 4th gen Japanese American kid, I grew up doodling that exact HeNoHeNoMoHe face in the margins of my homework (my teachers never appreciated it lol), and every festival season I have to remind myself “left over right” when dressing myself in yukata. Ame is a character that I would have really loved seeing in fantasy media growing up because I know I would have seen myself in her, and those little details like that only deepen my affection for the character, the story, the players, and everything about WBN!
Hear, hear!
Wow, Taylor, you were really given an impossible task giving audio to Shadow dudes footfalls sounding like shadow touching fire, like WAT. Just hit it out the park this episode with audio man. This episode just kills. Listened to it three times already.
So good! Each of the trio coming into their own, and all the sadness and happiness that brought. You're spoiling me for other podcasts, every WWW episode is such a treat.
The very first piece of media I remember crying over was "The Fox & The Hound" movie, which absolutely devasted young me. Given the parallels that have been building in this story, how can I bill you all for the therapy sessions I'll need to properly process all of this? I kid, of course, but the fact you all have delivered me back to that feeling (in a good way!!) is amazing
OMG this was... sooo good ! I cried... like.. a lot ! Thank you so much to all the team for this amazing work of art ❤
It's fine I'm sobbing in my driveway it's FINE
The musical artistry of Taylor- my god that ending with suvi
Like this comment if you yelled "F*** you Taylor" when *that* instrumental cue hit. Jokes aside, that was amazing!
Hot damn what an ending to a season you guys a such creative and astonishingly talented bunch
I am in the middle of listening and I am barely holding it together at work during Eursulon's reunion with his sister 😭😭😭
Im sorry im utterly sobbing because Calliah's grand children look like Suvi
I'm experiencing the same as Rupert, looks like the new episode didn't make it all the way to YouTube
I click the link to YouTube but I don't see the podcast posted. Am I missing something?
Hey Rupert! For some reason it's not on YouTube Music yet, but I was able to find it on Google Podcasts. Super weird!
Truly miserable at the reunion
Just catching up to be ready forr instagram live but damn yall didn't have to make me cry so hard.
I cried so much right now listening to Eursulon and Calliah reunite. Also Suvi and Ame choosing MATCHING OUTFITS!!! Ame's white outfit, meant to blend in with her surroundings, and Suvi's black outfit, meant to separate and protect her from her surroundings!! Love that for them
Also - 'Great workings of magic. When the things that the world has conspired to keep apart, instead come together'. What a sentence! A quote that will be up on my wall ✨
Resensitizing souls and hearts with your art must be the greatest gift you can give to the world. Every time I start listening to one of these wonders of an episode, I expect to listen to a really good story - Only to find myself crying minutes later, stunned by how present I suddenly am with the world and myself. How connected, to what I know is true already, but may have been buried under the everyday despite my best efforts. Thank you so much 🌈🌊🪐💜🔮
Hey whoever reads these for some reason I cant find this episode on youtube
The music while Ame does her magic don't believe I didn't hear that Rain Road theme!!! Also Eursolon's story made me cry. I am so so saaaaad!!! But also happy. I hope Suvi can catch up to her friends soon!
DAMN YOU TAYLOR AND YOUR MUSICAL SCORE. YOU MADE ME CRY.
Everybody doing stunning work as usual, but Taylor was KILLING it this episode. I mean, as usual again, but felt like I needed to call it out.
This story fits into a perfect little place in my heart. The tears are real and so is the warmth I feel after listening. Thank you ❤️
See attached an invoice for sleep and hydralyte to one WBN podcast
If Suvi be getting a badass vessel for the Sky, Ame sure as shit better be getting something like what FluffyFolio just shared https://www.patreon.com/posts/99405630?utm_campaign=postshare_fan
The jump from "hey, I'm the same age as my favorite D&D characters" watching Fantasy High in 2018, to "holy shit I'm the same age as my favorite D&D characters" listening to WBN is a JOURNEY. Not to mention this episode was constant tears. I don't think Dungeons and Dragons gets any better than this
What an absolute wrecking ball to the fee-fees 😭😭😭❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I'm sobbing in the parking lot rn
You are all such amazing story tellers and I can't say enough how much this show is close to my heart. This craft that you are all so talented at is such a hilarious and powerful art form and I am grateful to get to experience it and become immersed in this extradimensional theater space. Would that I could find a group of people to play this silly game with in such a meaningful way. So so looking forward to the next chapter (and also more SPACE CRAM??? I digress).
OK so Ame is in all White, Suvi is in all Black... so naturally Eursulon will be wearing a black and white striped suit given to him by his badger sister Stripe, right? RIGHT?!
You're literally a genius and I love you
Just outstanding. However I'm sorta starting to sympathise with the Empire...this is bad I mean they are called the empire....is this what happens in your 30s? 😀
Right?? But also, we don’t know the Geopolitics of Umora yet. Like, just bc Empire Bad doesn’t make their enemies Good, you know? The only Rhuvian we’ve met, Emliss, killed Ame simply bc Ame’s a witch so currently, I’m team Empire in the Empire vs Rhuv war
relistening to hold on tight in the middle of relistening to this and absolutely spiralling
I absolutely loved this episode and it tore my heart out in the best way possible.
Not me ugly crying over here before work
Peak dragon and dungeons. Masterful work from everyone involved.
I’ve never even so suddenly overcome with emotions while listening to a podcast! The waterworks hit just minutes before a meeting with my boss, and I was barely able to compose myself in time. This is a powerful, beautiful work of art and clearly needs to be consumed after work hours 😅😭
Omg best episode yet! I cried twice
holy SHIT
crying on the way home from the supermarket like a Very Normal Person
Anybody else having trouble getting this one on Google Podcasts?
BOY HOWDY this is a good one! Amazing sound design as always and the tension is incredibly thrilling! I love everything about this podcast!
Fuuuuuuuuuuck
Not me openly weeping in my office
Anyone else picture Ursalon spinning around the room with pure joy while holding his sister? 😭 Happy Birthday WBN!!!
YES that's exactly the mental image I had too :)
I just wanna say it's been a pleasure to support this project from the beginning. I had a good feeling that my fav story tellers would produce something spectacular. To say that it has gone way above expectations is an understatement. It is an honour to tune in and listen. I love this story and can't wait for all the continued ups and downs this story goes to. Congratulations to everyone involved.
What the hell guys. You need to start putting warnings on these things. There’s only so much a man can take. So many concerned looking people looking at me and weighing up if they should say something to this clearly emotional man out walking his dog.
I cried so hard at the reunion I thought I might die. I need to call my sister
I use Google podcasts and the episode won't play (but the previous one will)
This episode nearly broke me on the drive home from work, Well done Team 👍
Hello, I’m joining the party with “trying to weep silently because I don’t want to explain to my husband why I’m sobbing uncontrollably.”
IM WEEPING! I’m literally just uncontrollably sobbing, with so many emotions holy fuckkkkk God guys, wow… I’m so appreciative of this piece of art but also so jealous that I am not playing with
… You know, my whole life, stories have meant so, so much to me, it’s daunting to even stop and take in. I started reading early and never stopped - spent my whole childhood buried in books, and later devoured TV shows and movies. As I got older I fell in love with the variety of stories manifested in ever-expanding forms of media: comic books, theater, song, poetry, journalism, visual art, academic research, more. From ancient myths to modern memes, I’ve loved and appreciated and believed in the power of it all. And even all that being true - I was utterly caught unprepared and bowled over by this chapter. The reunion scene in particular rocked my world: instant ugly tears streaming down my face going down the highway, crying and laughing and smiling and gasping in wonder. All this time, and I still didn’t know stories could do what this one did to me. What you all have woven here is true magic, and I thank ya kindly.
oh i’m SOBBING. Like uncontrollably sobbing. the music, the reunion, the cottage, the ship. i have no words only tears
Brennan does such good sassy older ladies. It makes me think he has some truly wonderful role models in his life 😁
I mean who among us hasn’t been openly crying on the subway before, but at least this time it was to something so fucking beautiful. goddam y’all
Hey Brennan what the hell
Hahaha right?
Is it wrong that my absolute favorite part was when Kalaya tells her family she’s getting up and everyone’s reaction is “Grandma, no!” And then Ursalon just picks her up! Peak wholesome.
What a season ending!!!!!! Y’all put your goddamned feet in this fucking beast of an episode! Taylor, you are elevating every idea I’ve had of what’s possible with sound/music mixing. Everyone should be so proud of themselves. and once again… Brennan Lee Mulligan you motherfucking legend!! How did you get me to tears with a simple “it’s ok if I was early, I thought I was too late”. Got me weeping on a freeway. No more words but thank you. This podcast is a gift!
I too wept openly on a freeway. Holy moly.
Crying over that reunion. It was so beautiful and hit me with all the big sister feels 😭 Another masterful chapter finale from everyone and an exceptional score as always Taylor! Thanks for one year of incredible storytelling 💚
That's the part that got me. That joy of seeing a life-long work completed and the relief of not being late... got me right in the gut.
God… DAAAAANM! I love alot of other dnd podcasts, but they are all child’s play compared to this true masterpiece of a show. Absolutely wild. True perfection.
This was so beautiful. This podcast has meant so much to me over the past year. I'm so grateful to experience the story as it comes into being and have it inform the way I interact with the world. Thinking about these characters has definitely made me a more thoughtful and empathetic person, and get in touch with the part of myself that still believes in magic. Also, although there were a ton of sick gnarly moves in this episode, the part that made me tear up the most was Ame summoning all of the cottage spirits and returning home because it reminded me so much of going to my grandpa's house after he passed and seeing it with new eyes. I'm so excited to start another season, I hope everyone working on the pod has a well deserved break!
All of this ☝️👏
“Your on the right track” 🥲
When a teenager at the pottery studio knows who the Baba Yaga is, you recommend this podcast. (And discover she's already an actual play fan)
The sound design! The tension build up and the timing of the scene changes! So masterful. I also wonder if the badger children are related to Suvie as well as Eursalon. We know her dad saved his sister...
The image of Suvi approaching the north Pole in her skyship at the end is so fucking sick oh my God (also the scoring for that scene was incredible, hello big brass!!!) Also also the "she is a wizard of the citadel with the full force of her home behind her" line is do fucking hard it's unreal. Also Eursulon continues being fucking awesome as always. Also also also I'm so excited to see the group reunited after each taking their own paths to the conclave. They've got so much to process together. Things seemed p rocky at the end of the last episode, but it's nice to see that when push comes to shove, they've got each other's backs. Also what's the stranger's deal?? Why does he have the hot mysterious Southern voice??? Who knows!
Im not so sure Suvi has Eursulon and Ames back. I think her sojourn in the skyship might cause more of an issue than it solves.
Taylor you fucking killed it my man, yet another banger
God that episode was fucking sick
Wow the sound design on this episode was borderline transcendental. I don't know why but this podcast is more immersive to me then any visual media. Also ugly crying while on a walk when Eursalon reunited with his sister 🥹 so beautiful This show is such a a gift, thank you!
Literal chills. I’m so deep in my feels rn. Best actual play ever. Sound design was SO good!
Thank you all. In…credible! I’m grateful I got home unscathed because I was so oblivious to everything but this absorbing and hauntingly beautiful story.
Damn, I gotta wait a whole month for the next episode????? I shall appear patient, but I am screaming on the inside! Well done!!!
Foxy tippy taps are something special
Also, so many fucking Kudos to Taylor for this episode, the sounds of the cottage and the new spirits, the jungle, the theme of Eursulon exploring... Spectacular, my man.
Oh god, Eursulon finding the tree and everyone in it... It's incredible how this podcast can make me clench my teeth from the tension and then give such moments of utter joy that it makes me cry.
call me a laker bc i was BAWLIN for the last 10 minutes of this ep….
I have a full dissertation to write about this episode, but Suvi’s loyalty to her friends is incredible, even when she’s hurt and upset. Also the mirroring: Her first spell was cast to protect Ursulon and her first voyage on her own ship is to show up for Ame when she needs her.
YOU'RE KILLING ME WITH THIS CLIFFHANGER!! Also, Erika's (and Ame's, but it seemed like they were one and the same in the scene) reactions to the spirits of the farm was peak delightful and I was getting teary-eyed listening to it.
The SCORE this episode had me. Taylor keeps the hits rolling.
AAAA OH NO YOU GAVE TAYLOR A LEITMOTIF AND NOW HE'LL USE IT AGAINST US FOREVER !! ;;;; 💔
Stay calm, give him what he wants and no one gets emotionally manipulated by timbre, pitch and rhythm.
Yo Eursulon has the best encounters with spirits: love that we got both an ominous one at the top of the episode (shoutout to Taylor's scoring behind "the man in black": those strings man those strings!) and the super sweet reunion with his sister at the end
I don’t normally tear up during movies or when reading books, but I was fully weeping at the end of this episode. The performances are just SO GOOD. Can’t wait for arc 3!
Fully sobbing at the end of this one, y’all. What an amazing episode. Each of them preparing themselves and their communities around them, all so individual and amazing. GUYS!
Oh, just an older sister of two brothers casually crying at work having to tell my coworkers it was an audio book so I didn't have to admit to listening to a D&D podcast!
What's the difference?
Thank god I was working alone today, because that scene with Kalaya had me truly, actually sobbing at work. What an incredible episode!
This episode was so amazing, and the reunion of Eursulon and Kalaya literally had me crying at my desk at work
I like to call WWW my luxury podcast, it's like an extra special treat every two weeks to break up my everyday podcasts, because frankly the product quality and beauty of this story is nothing short of luxury!
Every time I think Taylor has outdone himself, he KEEPS outdoing himself! The music swelling during the Eursulon and Kalaya reunion is really what drew me over the edge into fully crying. It was the final blow to the dam that was already about to burst. Also! The intro music blending into the background music of this episode's intro, before the final notes of the intro music played, set the tension of the scene so perfectly. It was as though we were sat down for a story at the edge of our seat from the very start. An underlying unease as we listen for notes that will not come. Well done!
I cant explain why but just the way Erika described the clothes Ame picked up for winter brought tears to my eyes.
Did I understand correctly that when she went back to Grandma Wren's room ("my room now"), she found them laid out and waiting for her? A gift from the cottage?
I would like a release of Aabria's audio after Suvi was offered the ship, please 😁 I assume there was some kind of yelling or screaming?
Man I have so many thoughts about Steel and Suvi. It’s really interesting how well they reflect this sort of myopia about the power structure they are a part of. They get really annoyed and pissed with Âme not accepting their resources but they don’t actually know where their resources come from. At least Suvi doesn’t!
A tornado came through our area last night and thankfully for the most part everyone in our area is fine, but I laid in bed last night with the power out in the pitch dark listening to the episode and it made me feel so safe listening to our friends on their journeys. Even though they were separated they still found the resilience they needed to keep going. ❤️ Also the way I sobbed in Ursulon's reunion with his sister. So many feelings so bittersweet. So beautiful. Thank you for this beautiful story. It means so much to me and so many.
What an amazing episode filled with warmth, strategy, panic, and anticipation! I can't wait to hear how the conclave goes down!
I know it's oral story telling with, you know, maybe some dice rolls, but I feel like I've been reading books by some of my favorite authors with this. That said, somehow, if this podcast is lost to fucking time, I want to be an wrinkled old woman sitting by the fire side with grandchildren at my feet that goes "Now, let me tell you the story of The Wizard, The Witch, and The Wild One..." because it's such a treasure and a legend. I cannot wait for more.
We love oral stories!
I’M SOBBING IN MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK.
I'm weeping. How dare y'all emotionally compromise me like this 😭😭😭 No such thing as a bad episode in this podcast!!! It's all bangers
Right out of the gate the music gave me chills.
i haven't even finished the episode yet but the music gets me every single time,,,the rain road mixed into the moment ame wakes up the local spirits?? absolutely crying at the earnest beauty of it all, this is such a special story and genuinely my favourite piece of ongoing art right now. y'all outdid yourself with this episode!!
The Scene with Calia and Ursalon actually made me weep, you guys are creating such a rich world every episode is huge high point for me. I cant wait to listen to the new arc April cant come soon enough!!!
I'm not supposed to be crying at work!!!!
Every single episode of this podcast gives me chills! Y'all are incredible 💙
I FINISHED THIS IN MY LUNCH BREAK HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GO BACK TO WORK I’M OPENLY WEEPING
Why are these episodes so damn good?!?!?!
What an evocative, fun, and meaningful story. Thanks to you five for this wondrous masterpiece. So excited for the next series of adventures in Umora and beyond.
This is gorgeous, perfect and beautiful. (Also that visual of Suvi in a black fur-lined coat and armour, standing strong at the helm of the skyship, ripping through the ice storm? SO HOT.)
You have to read this gem! https://aeon.co/essays/folktales-like-philosophy-startle-us-into-rethinking-our-values Is the Wizard, the Witch and the Wild one art? Yes! A resounding yes and it is philosophy in it's most participatory, un-elitist and necessary form. I can feel all the makers/creators/dreamers of this experience pushing and stretching and reaching and yearning where so many others have said "meh, good enough" thank you for expanding possibilities and being a subtle life-giving force in these times.
Eurselons reunion with his sister warmed my heart way too much! 🥹🥹
And the music with it, killed me
I am so grateful that you share this incredible endeavour with us, that we get to be transported in mind and heart to learn about this world and these people in it. Thank you so much for inviting us to share in your joy in making this story with one another, for challenging each other to more and greater heights - so much love to you all for this gift ❤️
What a wonderful episode, these are truly the highlight of my lunch breaks each week. Eurselons reunion with his sister was such a powerful moment, after so much buildup over the arcs, and all the hardships he's gone through of being alone to finding a whole houseful of his family eager for his return. Brought me such raw sadness mixed in with deep joy, really masterfully done!
What a moving and vivid piece of the story!
Brilliant storytelling, and magical sound editing. Thanks all for bringing magic into our commutes, our idle hours, our solitary spaces, and all around the world.
Ya'll continue to blow me away! Outstanding job with the arc and finale! PS - I'd LOVE to buy an Umora campaign setting! I'm fascinated by this world!
Suvi’s decision to name Grandma Wren’s other friends was stunning. It felt like a betrayal of Ame and Wren, especially because Ame purposefully chose not to out Sly (twice!). Are we actually looking at a villain arc for Suvi here? It’s so hard to separate sweet, freshly orphaned baby Suvi from the person she is becoming. 😭 And that goddamn reunion. It felt so honest and real. I’ve been lucky enough to share similar moments with family; listening to the exchange between the siblings brought back so many memories and feelings… Y’all should be charging extra for all the therapy I’m getting. 😅 Thanks for a WONDERFUL s2, Brennan, Erika, Lou, Aabria, Taylor and WBN crew!! Counting down the days until April.
Part of what I loved about that whole shift for Suvi was that yes, she did out these friends when Ame purposely kept their names out of it, but she still shows up, airships blazing intent to stand by Ame’s side. I LOVE seeing the complicated and sometimes jerking steps forward that their friendship takes.
Dammit Brennan, that was an emotional sucker punch. Loved all three characters' mini arcs this episode
It's suspicious that Badgers kids look like Suvi, considering Eursulon's glamour only looks like her because he did it intentionally. Is Soft the ex-husband of Badger? Or maybe Soft's dad? Is Eursulon Suvi's uncle?
Or perhaps Badger is Soft’s mom?
Y'all. Y'ALL! This episode was everything. Eursolon's sister's line about it's okay if he came a bit too late, but not if she came too late was everything. Plus, imagine how much stuff she has packed away. Also, I completely get the war now and *why* Suvi has to be in the North Pole. The three of them have the chance to end the war or at least be the symbols needed. Brennan telling a war story in which both everyone and no one are bad guys is just... Oof. So many feels in this episode. Just so many feels
I was shocked when I heard this would be the final episode of the arc- I thought that the meeting with the witches would be the climax. I didn't know how you'd all be able to pull off a finale in what felt like the middle of the rising action, but you did! Seeing each character come into some part of their own, each getting huge and meaningful scenes of growth and maturity, it was wonderful. I'd say I cried, but that happens every episode, lol. Anyway, thank you, DM, players, and production staff, for continuing to tell such a magical and meaningful story. Looking forward to season 3!
Idk why Eursulon’s story feels so beautiful to me. His story feels so deeply bound to the fate of Umora especially since he is now a wayshadowed spirit with friends in the Citadel and family in Gaothmai.
Amazing as always. Has there been a rough date for when the next chapter will air? Just need to prepare myself accordingly. A short rest, I’ll replay just this chapter, a really long rest, I’ll restart the children’s adventure
When is the next episode coming out?
As the protective older sister of a beloved younger brother, who I still feel the need to protect even though we are both well over 40, I wept and wept at the reunion. Thank you for giving them a moment together.
CRYINGGGG. Y'all are the BEST storytellers and I love these characters so much. Thank you for sharing their adventure with us 😭❤️
WBN YOU MAGIC PEOPLE. The SCORE, and the STORY, I am actively weeping. I love these characters and this story so much
I almost cried at work while listening! What a beautiful and impactful end to an arc. Also side note, I am so excited to see that Ame North Pole fit art!!
second ep in a row im WEEPING by the end AHHHHHHH so excited for the next chapter
Oh my gawd that ending went so hard! ☯️ I love the yin-yang contrast of Amé's white dress and Suvi's black dress, and they ways they travel; wholesome lofi anime vibes vs imperial determination, the power of friendship. I'm so ready for this conclave, and we have to wait til April 😭
Oh I just love that everyone is on their way anyways. And the fact that the witches are meeting because they hate wizards and Suvi is just on her way in an airship.
Holy *crap* I went from crying to holding my breath in wonder. And now I gotta wait until the next episode? Dang man. LOL
I’ve been trying to think of something smart or clever to say about how this show makes me feel for ages, but I don’t think Patreon leaves enough room for *everything*. So I’ll just thank you for sharing this incredibly special thing with us and leave it at that 🖤
INCREDIBLE. STUNNING.
This was an incredible episode!! What wonderful acting and beautiful sound design! Thank you all so much for such an exciting finale!!
Ahhhh man what a wonderful episode! I feel like Ame is so vindicated in this episode. There is a world beyond the citadel that needs tending and help and I love this cozy little coven she's assembled to care for Toma while she is made to leave again. And Eursulon's reunion with his sister is so sweet! Amazing work y'all!
Predictions time. 1. Bager mated with Suvi's grand parents, or maybe even great grandparents. (Suvi is a small part spirit) 2. Soft and Stone were conspiring to break the citadel. 3. Steel found out and killed them. (I will never trust her, and if Brennan Severous Snapes her story I'll riot)
Oooooo oh my god
Weeping. Just so much weeping.
This was sooo beautiful! A beautiful mix of real conflict and misunderstanding between friends. People who have really only known each other for a short time regardless of the time spent together as children. I’m excited to see Suvi’s growth though she makes me nervous that she will go down her evil wizard arc. Great conclusion to S2.
Lou and Brennan had no right to make my cry into my dinner while listening to the reunion scene
Fully out here cryin’ in the club at this episode. So freaking well done.
I love how some time apart just motivated the group to rally behind Ame even more. They are indeed on their way to her.
I was hoping this episode would put the "Steel is a secret villain" stuff to bed, but based on the reddit thread their eternal suspicions remain despite what I found to be a surprising quickness to forgive Ame for (via Fox) blowing up a bus terminal. I'm too psyched for Chapter 3 to have to wait a month. Hopefully March goes by in a flash.
The way I see it, the Citadel is likely aware of the fact that they cannot scry on Suvi, so the only way they could hope to leverage her as an asset would be to make her trust them and feel as though they've taken a maternal spot in her life. I don't know if Steel knows this, but I don't believe she's serving Suvi's best interests either. Additionally, for Stone and Wren to conceal the true nature of the pendant, I think Grandma Wren would have had to placate and allow the Citadel to take in Suvi, otherwise they certainly would have likely gone all-in to search for her and leave a trail of destruction (like an entire desert) in their wake.
"I will not be touched by this world or any other without my permission, again." *BWAAAAAAH* What a baller line and a wild S2 finale. Those last 20 minutes took me on a roller coaster of emotion. Brennan, Erika, Aabria, and Lou, thank you for sharing your beautiful stories and yout brillant acting. And damn, Taylor, I swear I could feel the snow whipping past and a skyship under my feet with the power of the Citadel at my back with that sound design. That BRASS! Much love to all of you! I'm so excited for April (and new character art? 👀)! Can't wait for what WBN brings next! 🩵❤️💛
Ive just recently started University. The long train rides to and from have been made comforting and warm thanks to the episodes of WWW. I look forward to these episodes and the firesides every week, they have become a beautiful part of my life. Thank you so much for your ingenious storytelling and the wonders that it brings into our worlds.
Hey so I didn't need to be crying in my car today so thanks for that reunion between Eursalon and his sister, Lou and Brennan, you monsters.
There are so many amazing moments in this episode, but, holy moley Taylor. The genius of putting the string melody of Rain Road beneath Ame waking up the spirits as an echo of her connection between the two worlds was beautiful. I gasped aloud when I realised. Also as an older sister myself, everything in the scene between Kalia and Eursalon made me weep.
It's the little things that highlight Taylor's contribution to this amazing story: the way the opening theme subverts the expectation set by 22 prior episodes and barrels directly into the ambiance of the current story, the overlapping of Brennan's NPC speeches so that one character can interrupt the other even when both voices are his ... As much as I love ABEL (and I _do_ love them), Taylor is what pushes this story over the top into utter, sublime brilliance. (But, also: stupid Brennan ... making me cry ...)
The Man in Black reminds me of Caleb, the evil preacher in season 7 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. From now on I'm gonna picture him being played by Nathan Fillion.
Ah, you fuckers, you made me cry about a fictional old lady/spirit.
This is definitely the best episode yet!!! The finale of last season was amazing and I thought couldn’t be beat, this one took it and for a completely different reason. The depth of story telling, the immaculate musical score, the emotion in character development. I felt Ame’s solitude, fear and power up! I wept at the reunion and loss of time Eurselon had with his sister. I got giddy with power and strength as Suvi streaks towards the north! And the descriptions!!! Eurselon’s shield coming to life in a real tree his sister has lived in for years! Ame’s coat white and magical to blend in with the snow as a sharp dichotomy to Suvi’s black, powerful furs, because of course the northern sky is pitch black and Sky should match as well, it’s only right. It’s so good!! I love it! And I curse I must wait a month for more!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Who do I send my therapy bill to
The Fox
Crying on my flight today was not on my bingo card for today and yet here we are.
“I’ve lived a life of mortals and you were always on your way.” I’m a weeping mess! 😭😭😭
I was literally just gonna post I started weeping right before this
Best episode yet, and that's saying something. I cried for ~30% of the run time. Also when is the Sound Designer class draft going to be released because Taylor seems to have leveled up somewhere during this arc and his new abilities are really OP, I mean, c'mon
Loving Suvi's skyship moment, my girlie is radiant
"feels himself take space again" 😩🥺
Questions for the players 1) Having played this campaign for a year now, are there any specific ways you feel like your characters growth has been different from how you expected them to grow? 2) Have you used your characters as inspiration in video game character creation yet? (More directly, will we get a WBN BG3 stream? 👉👈)
This had me sobbing on the couch at 3am because I couldn’t go to bed without listening. What an incredible episode. Already eagerly awaiting arc 3.
The hype... THE HYYYPEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH THE HORNS AND THE SKYSHIP D A M N TAYLOR
*gesturing vaguely at this whole episode while sobbing violently* HOW DARE YOU (❤️)???????
My exact energy towards this episode
Welp…At least I have until April to replenish my tear reserves..
TAYLOR i have a very important question about the saxophone in the intro to this episode: to what extent were you inspired by The Righteous Wrath of an Honorable Man (Colin Stetson)? I was just listening to it yesterday and it has a bit of that vibe. also its title is the best title of anything ever, so, you know okay that's all time to listen to more than one (1) minute of the episode and very likely feel every human emotion
LOVE Colin Stetson, and yes he is the biggest inspiration for the sound of the Spirit.
I just finished the episode and am now listening a second time just to pick out more of the amazing sound design. I love how well it folds into the story.
Wrong episode to listen right when it dropped because I was holding back tears during the Eursklon and Kalaya at my desk... before my status meeting
…. Who “won’t let” Suvi and Eursalon join Ami? Steel gave her and airship. What was the bad Intel?
Maybe that initial wait order from Steel?
I'm increasingly becoming more steel-pilled
This dnd pod will have you calling your family and crying
Thank you for making me cry a lot in Ame's and Eursulon's sections and THANK YOU for Steel telling Suvi it wasn't her fault and hugging her because I needed that for her (and maybe for me) so badly. I just wanted to say how much I love this story you all are telling together. It's truly one of the most special things to hear you all so thank you for that!
Fuck this is an emotional episode
I'm sitting here openly weeping at my desk as I am wrapping up listening to this episode. I have been moved so many times throughout this story but the moment that Kalaya said "you were always on your way" absolutely broke me. As someone who has gone through so much grief and loss this is something that resonates with me and brings me such unbelievable comfort. Thank you to Brennan for, once again, helping me heal through my grief. This is my first time emerging from the shadows from which I usually lurk from. I want to extend the deepest and truest thank you I can. Thank you Erika, Aabria, Lou, Brennan and Taylor for this life changing show.
“You were always on your way!” I am WEEPING AT MY DESK 😭
It’s super cool to cry on the bus, right? Holy smokes this ep ruled.
Wiiiiizard subclass!
Getting to the end of the episode as I pulled in to my driveway was a perfect coincidence. Eursalon finding his sister and thereby finding a home nestled in a valley bordered by war was fantastic imagery. Seeing that even at the end of her life Callia still has to hide must have been sobering. The you were just a little late cut right through me. All her worrying and fear melted away and she was left with gratitude that not only was she able to help him. But was able to see her little brother again. Oh man and the spirits helping Ame!!! I could see it all in a little Miyazaki montage them coming out one by one and falling into place. Only Suvi felt alone. Despite being in a city with her surrogate mother. She felt the most isolated she’s ever been. Thank y’all so much for putting this all together. You couldn’t have picked a better producer either. Taylor is a master with these sound tracks
made the mistake of listening to this in the office this morning. I didn’t cry on my laptop but it was damn close.
Oh my fucking god, how am I feeling every emotion imaginable at the same time?? I didn’t think media could do this to me. This podcast is the greater piece of art I’ve ever known. Holy shit.
I feel like Taylor Moore took us all on wild ride with the soundscape of this episode; 'Willy Wonka' style. That ending had me envisioning Suvi at helm like some Admiral about to rain vengeance upon her enemies....or starting her Sky Pirate villain arc.
Oh man these tears keep on keepin on
Christ how is it better every episode
i've cried a lot from this story already but the pure delight and old lady joy in which kalaya exclaims "This is my little brother!!!" is absolutely top 3 immediately-started-sobbing moments and the way she was ONLY happy and relieved that eursolon was late, and that she was just early, GOD this kind of mismatched time shit fucks me UP IN THE BEST AND WORST WAYS also just a side note, from The Seven i often think about penny yelling "that's my sister!!" so there really is something so inherently powerful and emotional about proclaiming one's family i think 😆😭💕
also the way i fully gasped out loud when steel gives suvi her own airship!!! like hell YES DUDE i freaking LOVE when characters get an airship it's so fucking RAD!!! it's always hype and always reminds me of FF7 and other RPGs where getting a big airship is simply necessary, never gets old love that shit
Superb. When do we get season 3?
I have never been more inspired and moved to creativity than when this podcast and these storytellers came into my life last summer. Impeccable work. I have a question for Aabria regarding Suvi/The Wizard Sky: Even though Suvi is obviously deeply hurt by Ame's & Eursulon's decisions to go ahead without seeing if she was with them, but Suvi still makes the choice to make her way to meet them. What is Suvi's reasoning there? Outside of the "we don't abandon our friends just because they make us mad" of course.
I never thought I could be entirely undone as a human by some violins and Brennan's weirdly perfect old lady voice.
Brennan has perfected all the various types of granny voices. I keep imaging it’s just him in silly glasses and a blanket à la Bluey playing grannies.
from the moment I heard the opening theme get fourth-wall-broken by citadel brass I knew this one was really gonna reach right out of the frame and play such existential odes on the strings of my unprepared heart. So moved and I cannot thank you all enough
This arc has been incredible (yet again), but I do have a question for Taylor: You decided to use "The Rain Road" as a motif for Amé, a choice that surprised me with her being alone, but worked super well. Why did you choose this scene to return to that theme? (Also, as a side note, I've been listening to a lot of the episodes on a large sound system, and although they sounded good in arc 1, the episodes from arc 2 sound FANTASTIC. I don't know if you're mixing or mastering anything differently, but I figured you'd want to know) Crackle Crackle.
“we’re all on our way to somewhere, whether we like it or not” // “you were on the right track” 💙
Taylor needs a sound design award for the shadow steps early on. Absolutely busted, insane props my man
I was listening in the car when that part came up and it made the hair on my arms and the back of my neck stand up, full on chills
A year of Worlds Beyond Number has given me so much to consider. This show touches that part of me that yearns to be immersed in a fantasy world not for the wish fulfillment, but precisely because of the humanity of wizards, witches, and spirits. The fullness of the characters' powers and the storytellers' arts are revealed not in what they can control, but in their choices when faced with what they cannot. Humanity has always attempted to understand the unknown; we test, measure, and weigh the sublime, enshrine divinity in religion, and codify philosophy. In and of itself that knowledge can broaden our perspective, but it is a cold comfort without art and wisdom. The magic I've felt in listening to Worlds Beyond Number has made good on the promise given in the earliest announcements. Telling stories around the fire in a way that honors the pain of the day behind and ahead while finding meaning in the act of doing so together. Crackle crackle. A-hoo hoo.
Steel was manipulative as hell, counteracting Suvi's question about what would happen to the diviner who gave Ame the warning with a monologue, and then an accusation of Suvi's depiction of her character and never actually answering her question. Steel has never given me good vibes.
She did for me in the beginning but since the end of chapter one I’ve been suspicious of her motives. And Brennan has said before that a lot of times, he ends up using his real speaking for bad guys…
Guys it's really hard to work out in tbe cold while I'm openly weeping. Fantastic as always 💜
I'm crying in our shop truck rn "You were only a little late!" WHY MUST YOU HURT ME LIKE THIS
It's a good thing I long ago made peace with sniffling and wiping stray tears out of my eyes while at work.
I’m headed into southeast Texas to spend time with my brother in the wake of a family friend’s death. WWW frequently keeps me company on long drives, but it’s especially welcome today. Thank you to the Worlds Beyond Number team for using y’all’s immense talents to create something that makes me laugh, cry, and always feel less alone. ❤️
It's a really good thing I didn't get to the last 30 minutes of this podcast while I was still driving, since I'm now sitting in the parking lot with tears streaming down my face. Love this story and these characters so much. You guys are amazing.
The Wizard Sky or Darth Vader? 🤔
It really feels like everyone was REALLY coming into their titles of The Wizard, The Witch, and The Wild One by the end of this episode. Tears, Chills, Emotional Damage. 10/10
I've been trying so hard not to cry and laugh out loud at my desk (at work) while listening to this episode 😃💚😃💚😃💚😃
After such a difficult life, it's so nice and cathartic to hear Eursulon get these triumphant wins. QUEST FEVER!
The ending description of Suvi!!!! Holy shit!! Also, as a younger sibling I gotta go tell my sister how much I love her and how I know she helped me when I didn’t know she was. I’m a wreck, this episode was perfection!
Fair warning to all others who listen to this while on their lunch break: it’s extremely difficult and dangerous to ingest food while sobbing your eyes out.
Every couple weeks of anticipation and worry is rewarded with another stellar episode. Love.
BRB calling my sister to tell her how much I love her
"You were always on your way" ❤️ Thanks team, I'm sobbing on a Tuesday. Beautiful episode, as always.
In a twist of fate, me being unable to listen to WBN at work anymore has been a boon because I openly, loudly, uncontrollably wept at my desk this morning listening to this. Lou and Brennan knocked that out of the park! And Suvi and Steel's empirical wizard convo was juicy. Erika giggling when the scarecrow is mentioned and talking about a Japanese folklore that relates, and Brennan just immediately picking up that terminology. Some many brilliant moments and a beautiful through line of Family for our band of adventurers here. Thank you 4 for this gift.
The rain road playing in the background while ame wakes up the spirits??? TAYLOR
Man, I really need to stop listening to this at work. I have to sit here and fight with all my human strength to not openly weep happy tears like a maniac.
Was not prepared for that. What a crazy mix of emotions this episode had it all!
I still have 30 minutes left in this episode but I feel compelled to comment. You continue to delight and surprise me at every turn. Just the right amounts of schmaltz, and action, and wonder and humour, etc. I wish I had a table like yours to play at, but listening to yours is the next best thing.
This was such a a great episode!
How is this group so good at making me feel so many feelings in such a short time!? Oh my God I love this show so much!!!
Holy shit, this episode, this arc, has been so good! Great work everybody!
Is Brennan out here doing medieval poetry alliterative verse with the Man in Black?!
improvised, at that! 🤯
By far my favorite episode, i was on the verge of tears so many times. The sound and music was amazing.
Screw y’all for making me cry at work 😂 Unbelievable work. Can’t wait to see what comes next
How to explain to my coworkers why I’m tearing up on a Tuesday, I can’t
You know it’s a good episode when you have to fight tears multiple times at work
That ending had me crying like almost no other story had made me cry
LOSING MY MIND. I JUST STARTED IT AND I HAD TO GO TO CLASS ILL CHECK BACK IN AFTER THE EP
Oh my god you guys how did you make this so goooood. You've truly blessed us with this release and I mean come onnnn. Eursulon meeting his sister again had my face in a stupidly large grin, sky being honest with steel and steel not getting to angry had me sigh such a large breath of relief and we can't forget Ame calling upon the spirits of the garden which had me posotivly weeping with joy as it felt like things weren't completely set ablaze and instead just having a hand over the fire. Brennan you mad fucking genius keep it up because I'll be here supporting till the day I die at this rate.❤
Might need to call in sick to work just to have time to process all of these feelings
I am sobbing. This story is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. Art like this is why we’re alive
This ‼️‼️‼️
Literally teared up at least 5 times at work, every ounce heartbreaking and heartwarming, thank you all❤️
As an eldest daughter I was smacked by the ending! But it was so good!! What a brilliant ending
My god that ending has me tearing up and congratulations on another successful arc, everybody killed it and can’t wait for Arc 3 ❤️
Absolutely sobbing. God damn. I love this story so much.
Aabria has the best damn lines. "I will not be touched by this world or any other without my permission again."
It’s been a while since I cried that hard, I wonder how many sniffles Taylor had to edit out! Kudos to the whole team for an amazing finale, can’t wait for more!
Tears, tears from a big sister during the last 10 minutes. Oooof.
Likewise 💕
Crying my eyes out Jesus Christ 🥲🤧
I am team Man In Black - He's just looking out for his people.
Ame calling out Henohenomoheji had me in tears. I'm working hard to learn my ancestor's language. And the joy/recognition in Erika/Ame's voice in that moment is SO beautiful.
Not sure I’m ready for this I might have to listen to the last episode 3 more times
Just in time for my birthday, Sweet!
Heey. Happy Birthday.
Listening at work because I cannot wait.
Oh F****! I forgot that the Man in Black is the scariest thing ever! Which is to say, the collaboration between Brennan and Taylor is SO GOOD!
I need to stop listening to podcasts that make me cry at work
Aabria dropping terrifying hints on Tumblr has not prepared us, but here we go!!
Eeeeeeeeek
Right off the bat with the incomplete theme!!
Let's goooooooo
This is the last episode of Chapter 2?!
HERE WE GO BABY!!!! -rubs my goblin hands together-
Ruin, and I can't stress this enough, my life
Aaaaaaaahhhhhh
Haven't listened yet but I'm already SO STRESSED. 🫠💓
Oh my god.
