The naming convention lore!!!! I have so many questions! Steel clarifies that not all wizards get ‘S’ names, which we see with Galani and Morrow (forgive my guesstimated spelling), but what is the threshold? Is it only the cream of the crop that get ‘S’ names - if so, is there a letter of descending importance for more tiers? Most of all, WHO WERE THE FIRST 2 SKYS??? What is the called shot?? Gosh I love this podcast. Lore is the best.
I loved this episode so much! I think it was my favourite one so far! I'm not sure where we ask questions for the fireside, and I know the fireside chat for this episode already went out, but I really want to know: When Ame Said "Ms. Morara" and then some spring peepers started to peep again, was that an indication that Morara was... amused? Had a moment of gentleness? Was Ame reducing her power/presence somehow by addressing her respectfully as any other person? Was it the lack of fear? I'm so curious about why that happened!

I’ve listened to this episode 4 times, and I’m just blown away every time, because I notice something new everytime. This last time, I finally listened not in my backyard, and I realized those chicken sounds in the farm background are not the chickens in my own backyard, but intentional sound. Taylor is knocking it out of the park every time, I swear.

Brennan as Grandma Wren is probably the best NPC I’ve ever heard played out. She’s perfect. Brennan, Erika, Lou, and Aabria are magical.
Brennan’s fantastic narration, Erika’s beautiful reaction, and Taylor’s amazing music really made me feel like I was soaring during the flying scene.

i don’t think so, unless they fully talked it out and forgave each other at some point in the middle. there seemed to be no hard feelings or bad blood between them in the first episode, so if they had fights like that in the past, i feel like there would be animosity
Imagining the pure and utter terror Grandma Wren felt when she realized all the years and training she’d given Ame had been locked away by a curse and she had almost run out of time to do anything 😭

THEY'RE BACK, THEY'RE BACK, THEY'RE BACK (thanks guys, I missed trying not to cry at work, the scenes with Grandma Wren were magnificent <3)
This was easily my favorite episode so far! I love the way witches are explained as stewards to their respective crafts and bridges between worlds, and the episode went even deeper into it. Any scenes with Grandma Wren are a gift (holy cow the broom flight, the sweeping music, it was so cinematic in my mind), and little Ame is soooo adorable (RIP her very special cat mug?), BUT THE SHOW STOPPER FOR ME WAS THE WITCH OF THE WANING MOON. I'm waiting for the transcript to spell her name properly, but the moment she entered the scene, I was ENAMORED. I could ramble about every character, every beat of this episode, how cool Suvi's decision is, the wizard roomba, but goodbye my heart, because the very tall, masked, spooky lady cloaked in the pitchest shadows of the night stole more than just a cat mug in this episode.
One last thing, the line "because they're not trying to be good" from Grandma Wren to a frustrated Ame was so resounding. In such simple words, it brought so much resolve. How do you do it it Brennan?!

The sheer versatility. Unmatched.
The fact that even Grandma Wren was like "Yeah that dude is really scary; if he shows up, do NOT let him in this house or THE WORLD MIGHT END" makes The Stranger all the more terrifying. Also makes me infinitely more curious what direction the campaign would have taken if Ame had! Also, gotta say, just as a general note, I am consistently delighted by how instinctively Brennan and Erika both "get" the shape of a fairy tale. Like, when Erika offered Marara her hand in greeting, and Brennan went "Did you offer me something, child?" and you could FEEL Erika hitch with hesitation as if sensing a trap whose shape she couldn't define? And then Marara threatening to TAKE that hand later??? So good. My brain knows it couldn't possibly have been planned, but the notion of it having been improvised is just so wild. Truly some next-level fantasy storytelling jazz. I adore this setting's blend of Shinto-like animistic spiritualism, and the extremely Celtic notion that dealing with fairy folk is essentially super high-stakes contract law. Can't wait for Marara to come back and sue Ame for promissory estoppel.
BLeeM NPCs dropping incredible lines as always. "We accept these distinctions for their utility, and often do not see the price we pay for that usefulness."

There are so few stories that have gotten me to feel the sense of wonder that I felt when I was kid watching the scene of Avatar: TLA where Aang has to speak with Koh the Face Stealer. This show has managed it a few times. It's unlike any other podcast out there. Brennan, you've truly proven yourself to understand something key to the genre that Ursula K Le Guin did. That fantasy isn't just a tool for (re)imagining the past, it's a powerful means of imagining other worlds and in doing so (re) imagining our own.

The Ruve Imperium is one of the nations at war with the Empire (the war that Citadel wizards are being trained for and sent off to). That's where Captain Emliss is assumed to be from due to the kind of magic she used as "a chalice."

The interactions between mechanics and world building going on with the covens and titles is very interesting. Props to Brennan on that. Also, Grandmother Wren is the character Brennan was born to play, which is kinda obvious since he wrote her for himself, but damn, she's SO GOOD. And again I say I PITY the people who are listening to this without having heard The Children's Adventure, 'cause it just hits so much harder with that context.

It might have been super helpful to them as well. There were a couple continuity breaks that made me think they had maybe forgotten a couple of things between arcs.
