The Rain Road [now available]
Y'all seemed to like the song in the last episode, so here's the lyrics, the guitar tab, the SATB sheet music, the piano demo, an mp3 of the single cut and a high quality wav of the same single release. FYI, the piano demo makes great lofi piano romantic hymns of the water cycle to study to.
Thank you for loving the show and supporting our work. We're just getting started ;)
[UPDATE] Almost forgot! Non-Patrons can buy the single in our new PATREON STORE! A new feature on Patreon that allows us to offer up digital stuff for sale to anyone, and allow free downloads to patrons. Check it out, and feel free to share it with your non-patron friends, family, or captors.

i subscribed when wbn started and 2023 just absolutely wrecked my ass, so i’m just catching up. i got to the episode with this song and tears just started flowing as they began singing. what a beautiful song, great job, phenomenal episode (the catharsis!!!), and thank you for sharing this creativity with us. very grateful to be able to listen and be moved by this storytelling
My favorite song, unironically, of all time. Thank you, Taylor. You'll be hearing from my therapist.
I can’t tell you how much this beautiful song means to me. Thank you so much, Taylor and Brennan. A dear friend of mine who I shared a love of D&D with passed away suddenly last year. Her much delayed celebration of life is coming up, and I hope to farewell her with this beautiful song.
You know, in the deep thick of quarantine in 2020, like many others, I was finding community and connection with people all over the world reaching out with their art and their thoughts on TikTok. And one of the most beautiful things that TikTok allows with its features is the ability for musicians to collaborate across the globe, and layer duets upon duets until they create these glorious harmonies. There was one in particular that I found in the middle of the night that was a collaboration of artists from Ireland, Scotland, elsewhere - and it came to me like a precious jewel in my kitchen in Michigan just when I needed to hear it. Hearing the Rain Road gave me the gift of that experience again for another extremely difficult year. I found WWW in 2025. I have listened ravenously and am now re-listening to the entire thing leading up to the last episode of arc one. Thank you. Just, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your art. It is helping heal my soul when resilience is extremely hard to feel. Love you all in a non-creepy parasocial way. 🩷
The monthly Patreon is worth all the money if only for this!
Re listening to series and podcasts. I burst into tears re-listening to this. It’s just so full of passion, from the musical arrangement to the choir, to the lyrics themselves
I only just realised I could make this my morning alarm...😭🥰 thank you, Taylor.
Me: Wow, what a beautiful arrangement, and stellar production! Brennan: ...well *this song*... is totally out of our control... Me: *sobbing*
Thank you, this song moves my heart every time. Will it be ok to learn and perform this with my choir? We are not for profit, but do sell tickets for shows to fund accompanist salaries, room hire etc. Don't want to infringe copyright but would love love love to sing this in a group!
If the answer is a yes please let me know who should be credited as composer (obvs Taylor Moore, but any others). If we manage to perform I'll share any recordings. Also if you'd be up for sharing some sheet music for an accompanist and/or sheets that show the solo parts with the satb (as in the recording) or the extra verse in satb, or anything else that might help a choir learn and perform this as intended that would also be amazing as my choir master is old school so I might need to sell him on it!
Oh this is a separate post from the one locked onto the main page.
I decided to restart my Animal Crossing Island and blanking on a town name I went with Toma. I just updated the town song to be the end of Rain Road and it wasn't until Isabelle sang it that I realized how cute it's going to be for the villagers to be singing it to each other 🥹
This song was the thing that finally brought me over the edge to join the patreon for this insanely amazing podcast, because it made me feel ALL THE FEELS. So wonderful.
Still coming back to this, in the middle of a sea shanty phase and this is permanently on that list.
So I'm the co-founder/ Admin Director of a nonprofit Pagan choir and I'd love to run this piece by my co-founder/Musical Director! We're community-focused, not performance-focused so, given the encouragement of fan covers, I'm guessing y'all wouldn't have an issue with that? Thanks so much for making the music and lyrics available! I was already craving that, even before I considered the possibility of putting it before the choir!
I believe they've saaid as much on a Fireside episode. I'd really love to hear this if it ever does come together.
I’m so glad I finished episode 14 at home today and not on the daily listen on my drive to work…I am a puddle 😭
Boy, I’m late on the draw here, but I had to give it a shot after it was stuck in my head for like three weeks running https://www.instagram.com/reel/CxuHj0PuJUp/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
this song still brings me to tears every time i listen, idek what feeling it’s evoking in me but it’s a strong one
What a beautiful song!!! I just had to make my own (orchestral) cover: https://soundcloud.com/hkleissen/the-rain-road-cover (i included a little easter egg at the end ;) )
I did the thing! Here’s the alto part of The Rain Road on Tiktok - please duet! https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8jkdsUF/
You are all such wonderfully talented creators and inspired me to create my own world and share it with those around me. You make me feel that stories matter, and the stories we share matter most of all. This song brought this community closer together and I thank you all for it deeply.
Are any of y’all the kind of of content creator that records their reactions to things? Because MY BONES crave watching someone hear The Rain Road for the first time in-episode. I can’t go back in time and experience that for the first time myself, so I wanna watch someone else do it. [edited because I cannot wordz sometimes]
I have literally cried every time I've heard this song. Very powerful stuff you all are making here. Keep up the amazing work.
Idk if this is better for the Fireside form or here lol, but... how do you feel about covers that include (a guess at) the secret bonus verse? I am NOT very musical but I can play one note at a time on guitar, and I mashed together my best guess at one-note-at-a-time tabs for the melody (mostly based on the choral arrangement) and I'd love to post/send somewhere as a fan thing a cover if I get it to a place I'm happy with, lol. (If it's ok to share I can try to convert the one note at a time tabs to something legible and not scrawled in a notebook, too, but I don't want to do anything without asking first! The extent of my musical training is middle school band though, so I make no promises of the quality.)
So, we're absolutely going to create a mass fan stitch of ourselves singing this, right?
I was thinking this same thing!!
You absolutely outdid yourselves on this one. I was driving with the podcast on and had to pull over; just to sit with the music. The arrangement is stunning and the lyrics feel so natural to the narrative. Incredible (Also, there is a mans voice underneath that sounds like (I'm hoping is) Brennan or Taylor
I was so stoked to hear about how this song was created. Just beautiful.
((crying)) It's just so good!!! Thank you!!!!
This made me tear up when I listened the first time and I'm tearing up again. Thank you for sharing this beautiful art with us!!
Thanks so much for including guitar tabs! Taylor! You thoughtful genius, you
What are the odds that we could get sheet music for the orchestral version? 👀
Here's the full score. :) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QcuUPFmt4Xkksl2aLp9SSL-rh_RemOXf/view?usp=sharing
What are y’all’s feelings about (free) public choral performances of this piece? And about modifying the arrangement to meet the voicing of the group? I’m a choir director and I’m picking out music for my groups next concert right now.
They said covers were welcome on the fireside so I'd say go for it!
It reminds me of "In Dreams" from LOTR
My best attempt at putting together some sheet music for the keyboard. It's a mmix of the chords and the choral arrangement rather than trying to work from the demo but I think it works quite well. I might put a video up here if I get the time as well. https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:52a6e44e-dcfe-3e9b-aae9-81057c102540 Edit: Link has been changed, hopefully that works!
When I tried opening this it said that I didn't have permission to view it. I'm not familiar with the site but I made an account, is there any way to make it viewable? I'm wanting to work on it during my music lessons (:
Made a Acapella extended version hope you like it. (Please forgive the breathyness.) https://soundcloud.com/karl-liggin/the-rain-road-extended-karl?si=95abe46dcd284151bbf355e8d552edc4&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
I put this on the wrong post -- my apologies!! To preface this, I'm a percussionist more than I am a composer, but the podcast and the music inspired me to create a symphonic arrangement of The Rain Road. It's not a full-length interpretation, but it's a beautiful (in my humble opinion) arrangement nonetheless. :) https://soundcloud.com/rob-wiltbank/the-rain-road?si=6366abeb72da4b80a55f12953ca3a694 Thank you Brennan, Erika, Aabria, Lou, and Taylor for all that you do and all who you inspire.
This is fantastic!!
I haven't picked up my flute in years, but it would be so fun to see what how a flute quartet of the choral arrangement would sound. Thank you so much for such amazing access to this beautiful piece of music. You've all done spectacular work on this.
What CANT you guys do?!
Do you have an inspiration playlist (ie songs that are similar in style/theme)
Now I just really want a version the cast sings all the diffrent parts of the harmonies.
Ideally, where would the unrecorded verse go in the song?
Have you considered releasing mp3s of any of the background music used throughout the series? I'd love to have some kind of original score album from chapter 1
Absolutely gorgeous. Now share the rest :)
I really love this song! Thank you so much for offering all of the PDFs too! I may end up using this with my music therapy patients :D
I literally stopped in my tracks at work when the first verse hit.
The level of effort you guys are putting into this story brings to me tears every. Single. Episode. I love it so damn much! I am more excited for this story than anything else I’ve ever read or listened to. Thank you all so much!!
I love how you all bring beauty into fantasy like hr best storytellers.
This is so beautiful... thank you for sharing it with is. I'm not crying
I just love you all
Store? STORE? WHERES THE AHOOHOO SHIRT????? WHERE IS IT
stunning! i'd love to know who sings in it!
Thank you! This is maybe the gold standard of fan engagement, responding quickly and generously with a ton of things that the fans clamored for
ahhhh thank you so much!!!
What’s amazing is the production value you put into your shows that you produced this song. This is SO much more than D&D.
Thanks! Delightful
Oh wow, so lovely and so kind to give us the tabs and all... wanders off to get guitar.
OMG, you are the best. Let's go cover this **
This is ridiculously cool!!
NOT THE FULL TABS AND CHORAL ARRANGEMENT YOU GEMS! I'm so so so happy!
Was totally not expecting singing in the episode so when it started I had to stop whatever I was doing and just listen. Then ya’ll went and released the song?!? Amazing and well done
I was listening to this part of the episode whilst doing the dishes and the next thing I knew I was just stood sobbing in the kitchen.
Thanks for releasing this! I can't wait to hear the fan covers that come from it.
Going feral over this thanks so much
Thank you so much! You guys are the best! I really love that song and it makes me want to be there on that blanket on the forest floor.
So... I can expect a full live choir/orchestra medley of all the music like this from the campaign coming in a few years, yeah? This is gorgeous, bravo.
Thank you so much!
This is so cool of you! Thank you so much :D
“Key of C (get it?)” I SEA YOU TAYLOR
Thanks for sharing. A beautiful piece.
Key of C 🤣
I love how parts of the chord progression sound similar to Auld Lang Syne (at least to me). So it has the feeling of a cozy old tune you half-recognize.
Totally agree
i extend the heartiest of thanks, now i just need to figure out how to inject it into my veins
"Yall seemed to like the song" Understatement of the CENTURY
THIS IS WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT
This is sooo lovely! I live for those Celtic influences, it reminds me of classic folk songs/shanties like “The Northwest Passage”
Yes!! I arrange a lot of Irish folk songs for choir and this would fit right in. It feels timeless.
This is amazing, the entire composition is just lovely! ❤️
Ok, I’m practicing the alto part and will put it up on TikTok when I have it down. Anyone who wants to join, look for #wbn or #theRainRoad
I have done the thing! https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8jkdsUF/
Patrons: hey the song is great could we maybe get the lyrics if it’s not too much to ask :) Taylor, probably: Omg yeah here’s EVERYTHING I ever did regarding this song. Hope you enjoy! Talk about going above and beyond (number)! This is the best $5 a month I could ever spend
As someone who has really wanted so much more singing in her life, thank you thank you thank you. This is a thing of beauty. Having tabs AND choral music AND demos is just so fantastic, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness *so much*
This is amazing!! My son would love the sheet music for the piano demo so he can try to play it, if you decide to make that available too.
I don’t think I have the bandwidth to do that, but if he just takes the chords from the guitar tab and plays them all in first inversion with a lot of voice leading he’ll totally get it!
Just a thought, but I’d be in for a community chorus project like what The Longest Johns did where they got people to sing different parts of a song and mix them all together. They turn out really awesome.
I am totally in
I am currently performing cell culture in a sterile biosafety hood and trying to sing along with the bass harmony in my headphones, thanking my lucky stars that no one else is in the lab right now.
Aaaaaand I’m crying again 😭
This song gave me goosebumps! Minor question, but there's a slight discrepancy in the lyrics between the lyrics sheet and the choral arrangement. In Chorus 2, the lyrics sheet says "I am the peace of waves" and the choral arrangement says "I am the piece of waves". Based on context I'm assuming the lyrics sheet is correct?
Yep. Naram is the lord of the gentle sea. Peaceful.
So that thing there was no way Taylor could do because he was a one man show cutting together 2 feature length movies a month … yeah he did it in less than a week. PAY TAYLOR MORE AND HIRE SOME HELP FOR HIM!
It still blows my mind that Taylor just decided one day to teach himself to compose music - and now we have this masterpiece of a song
He joins Griffin McElroy in “i just decided to do this for a dnd podcast now here’s the best fucking music ever”
Amazing! Now how much for the rest of this arcs music 🎵 ?
It still moves me when I think of it "Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation on my mind It's part of the water cycle and it happens all the time" No, but, seriously this song is amazing and made me feel things
This song made me cry during my walk to work when I listened to the episode. Catch me wiping my face while (safely) crossing a crosswalk ✌️😭
This is so dangerous of you to share when I am preparing repertoire for the choir I’m directing.
We live for danger. Specifically this danger. Choir danger. -t
This is amazing, thank you!
YEAH
A truly beautiful song, well done and thanks for sharing.
Omg thank you 😭😭😭
I need this on Spotify like immediately
If you turn on the setting in Spotify to show audio files from your device, you can add it to your playlists after you download the mp3!
Crying at work ✌🏼
Taylor, you diamond in a sea of fine human beings! Thank you!
the song was so incredible to hear, thanks so much for this!
I’m immediately transported to Port Talon listening to this. Amazing job!
From the main feed episode notes: This episode featured a song called The Rain Road, with music by Taylor Moore and lyrics by Taylor Moore and Brennan Mulligan. Look at us, like Hall and Oates over here! We had wonderful help with the choral arrangement from composer and choir director Héctor Muñoz (available for hire!) and the Macraphona Choir: Camila Chaij (solo), Micaela Roldán Juan Leoni, and Nahuel Camargo
Out of curiosity do we know who the singer is? I didn't see a mention in the episode notes.
there are so, so many people humming this tonight
This is honestly the only patreon I've ever subscribed to that actually felt worth it
This may be my favorite patreon ever. Ya'll produce so many surprise gifts for your supporters
AAAAAAAAA!!!!! I’m so excited about this!!!!
This is so based good god props to the team!
ahhhh this is amazing thank you!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH YAAAAAAAAY
This is the most amazing gift ever, thank you
Ya’ll are so extra and we are here for it
You are too good to us 😭😭😭
THANK YOU SO MUCH
When I tell you I had just finished cobbling together my own version, complete with a made-up second verse, when I got the email about this post! I am a kid in a candy store, truly
You can't just mention a second verse and not post it...
Holy shit you guys. Any one of those things by itself would been incredible, but all six?!?? You're the best!
Beautiful music
THANK YOU TAYLOR. I CRIED SO. SO. MUCH
THANK YOU!!! 🥹
I got so emotional listening to it for the first time in amongst the campaign plot, listening to it truly makes me picture a community finally coming back together as one. 'A harmony of humanity' is how I'd describe it.
Oh, wow. 😭 excuse me while I re-tune my guitar. This is incredible!
Would be so cool to see this as a single for an Official Campaign Soundtrack™..... 👀👀👀(please make more music you're really good)
It's epic and sweet. Who is the featured singer in the track?
oh my god THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH
ASKED AND ANSWERED 💖 Thank you, Taylor!
This was a gorgeous song. The sound of Worlds Beyond Number continues to set the show apart!
you guys are amazing!
Yess this awesome to have. I'd love to also get an album or playlist with all the songs and background music of the podcast. I *need* the audio that played during Naram's 'rampage' in my life
So sick
Nice! I’m unsure if this is feasible, but it would be great to also have this on Apple Music & Spotify. No rush and thanks for the file releases!
SO excited to listen to your compositions, so wildly good for a podcast. Crossing my fingers for an eventual album release. 🤩
This is so nice and even though I don't need all of it I'm downloading all of it to support Taylor and his amazing comp skills 😍🥹
Y’all are too good to us. I’m currently sitting in the voice chat for my session tonight talking about this song with my players and all of a sudden we get this notification ♥️

So beautiful, thank you!!
i was hoping this would get released, thank you so much!!!!
It's a good day to be alive!!!
Aaaahh!! I’m literally working on building a nautical inspired guitar I’m so excited to finish it!!
It was so unexpected and so beautifully arranged. Thank you for such a wonderful mid episode surprise.
I VERY recently showed this EXACT image to a friend when explaining what kudzu is
YAAAAAY!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 💜💜💜

Can’t wait to see what else comes next!
