A fun little change to our usual schedule, since some key cast is out of town and far away from microphones at the moment: This week the Fireside Chat is all about the Children's Adventure! (We'll do a double Fireside Chat for eps 3 & 4 after ep4 comes out!).

When we met the mushroom spirit in the campaign I assumed that since it was quickly followed by the 250 year reveal that sir curran dropped the mushroom when he died in the battle but the explanation you give here makes alot more sense. Love the world building of this campaing and i cant wait to get into the adult section.

I have an alt name +story for "ground food." My friend and I were on a hike, we got to the top to have a snack, they fully drop their snack, picked it up within a few seconds and called the dirt "camp pepper"
One of the reasons why the children's adventure is so magical and works so well is because they are so genuinely authentic. I'm so glad to hear that talked about in here! It can be so hard to take adult characters and work them back to having a children's mindset, and children problems. Like they said, the goat is the perfect bad guy for a kid! (Pun intended) As a mom, I'm seeing this more and more in children's television as I watch with my son. It reminds me of how " Spidey and his amazing friends" was able to rework Spider-Man villains and situations for children. Instead of " Green Goblin" he is "Gobby". Instead of "pumpkin bombs" he has "pumpkin pranks" which are full of sticky, stinky goo. Gobby still tries to get in the way of the community events, and team Spidey still webs him up to save the day. The children's Adventure had such beautiful storytelling from a children's point of view, and children problems: trying to clean up the mess from cleaning Eursulon before Grandmother Wren came back, adventuring through the woods, playing with a stick as a sword, and especially trying to hide all the cool stuff they found in the Attic! Wonderful storytelling, beautiful characters ❤️
It is WILD to me that we did a full 5 minutes on Mr Borg before finding the rails, and the pop culture reference was fully teenagers getting drunk. Never, not once, was it Star Trek. This man playing a character obsessed with honey and zero hive queen jokes🐝🟩 That being said, this and the children’s adventure have been such a joy, and solving the confusion on that mushroom spirit’s origin story did ease my brain 💙

Im so late in the game but can I just say a lot of parts made me emotional/cry but the absolute ugly sobbing moment for me was the bear parade because of how beautiful and whimsical it was with that music just shattered me emotionally i was full ugly crying with my whole chest because I could never achieve that feeling irl lmao

I’m halfway through episode 4, and did I miss something huge? Why is Suvi all of a sudden an apathetic insufferable prick? Is it simply because she’s spent so long trying to pretend like she fit in with the adults at the citadel that she never took the time to actually grow up and emotionally mature past age 6, or is there some deeper reason she’s a piece of shit to her so called ‘family’ out of the blue? I feel like that was a massive character shift with absolutely no reason given.
I think you're underestimating the stress of the battle/the conditioning of the empire. This battle against an agent of the Dominion is literally what Suvi has been trained for since she was 6, of course she's going to go into robot soldier mode when confronted with a threat so connected to her time at the citadel. That brainwashing goes deep and I'm excited to see her arc concerning it in the future- after all there is a whole decade+ of her life we haven't seen yet.
I tried googling, what are strength points in combat? When Ame was attacked she lost 4 strength points. I didn’t know that was a thing.

i don’t want to sound like an impatient or greedy fan, but is there anyone else wondering where the next episode is of WWW? don’t they usually come out every other week at around 4am CST ? or is this one delayed because of the nuptials/honeymoon situation ?
I was wondering to, the episodes are recorded in advance so I wouldn’t have thought the wedding would delay it but it’s a possibility. The release time probably just fluctuates slightly between weeks
I enjoy being reminded that stories just taking up all the space isn't limited to a specific storytelling medium - like sometimes bathtub swords just exist and have wild powers and cool names, and that's just how it's going to be, you know?

Watching this Children’s adventure was amazing! I’ve been running a D&D campaign for 6 years and am finally coming to the end of it. Out plan for the past year (because we imagined the campaign to have finished by now XD ) was to have everyone play the children of their +20 level characters (at one stage they all broke their “limits” and could move beyond their imagined/destined potential). I have been planning how I will run a mini level zero campaign for them all and listening through this mini children's campaign is so inspirational. I am frantically taking notes while listening to this fireside chat! I loved how you ran everything here Brennen

So I love that Brennan uses Aragorn drinking Eowyn's nasty soup to justify the stance that Sir Curran wouldn't have dropped the mushroom... When Aragorn tried to dump the soup on the ground as soon as her back was turned in the extended edition movie

Also, I love that, even tho it's not in the naming intention, the word AME, spelled, in our alphabet as a-m-e, in portuguese (and I believe spanish too and maaaybe italian), means the imperative form of LOVE. which just fits so nicely into loving Ame, who also needs a reminder to be kind, even tho she is gentle and has a heart of gold.

Having just finished the part about Eursulon’s name was only about the ursa part. I’ve studied a decent bit of word parts and noticed the Eu- part which means right/good at the beginning which led to me thinking he was a paladin(before it was dropped). Really interesting finding out it wasn’t intentional at all and thought I’d share.
I am pretty sure Lou commented somewhere else about the eu- root meaning "good" in Greek, but I don't know where.
your safety tip for the day: never put anything in your butt that doesn't have a flange! that lil string is not gonna be a 100% safe bet as a retrieval device.

When I DM my first campaign, I am 100% doing the concept of a kids arc session zero instead of an out of character conversation. It was literally the most beautiful campaign I've ever heard and I want to give that to my players to whatever capacity I can do it.

What I learned from this is not only is Sir Curran just actual Brennan in his own world, but also Brennan was a real-life Calvin when he was a kid and Curran was his Hobbes.

I'm wondering how many weeks ago they did the children's campaign compared to when the campaign and fireside were recorded and same for the firesides and the main campaign.
they’ve said previously on either a fireside chat or one of the instagram lives that they recorded the children’s campaign and the first few episodes way back at the beginning of the summer of 2022, and fireside chats I think are recorded only like a day or two after each episode is released, so they’re very far apart
