listening to the children’s story after listening through chapter one really gives a beautiful feeling to these stories.
I'm finally listening to these for the first time after finishing the main story, and WOW, I truly didn't think the children's story would hit as hard, but it absolutely does. It even brought the Players to tears!?!? Makes me wonder how many times the characters crying is also them as Players being moved to tears. 😭💙
After catching every episode the day it released, then coming back along through to relisten, I'm reminded how Brennan Lee Mulligan serves as one of my most profound inspirations as a storyteller. I used to hope that one day I could achieve what he achieves alongside his players, but on this relisten, I'm realizing that no one will ever be able to tell stories like Brennan does alongside his friends. He, as well as Lou, Aabria, and Erika, are themselves masterclasses. Hats off.
What protected Eursulon from the curse of monstrosity is that he turned to protect his friend. Love the profoundity of that!
Spoilers "I made him different so he can't come home" 😭 this is so relevant to how Steele then treats Suvi at the end!! she changed and was made different so she can no longer go home. Eursulon changed her too so she also became wayshadowed 😭😭
I love that I'm not the only one having a relisten after finishing book 1
Lou’s little “mm-hmm” for when Eursulon is shy or thinking is just so perfect. I love it ❤️
Given the most recent episode(50}, Curren saying he would wish to spare all from this world's lessons hits... Different.
Same with the realization that the pauldron that saved Eursulon from becoming a monster is the same one being missing that lead to Curran’s death 😭😭
IM NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING
The music at the end..softly fading…smiling… love it❤️🔥
Not me crying at my desk in my open plan office, having to explain to my manager that I am fine and the adults pretending to be children and rolling dice are too cute and sad.
Brennan’s loud and concerned squawk as Erica fell of her chair really got me. Hahaha. 💚
I scared my cat I laughed so loud. He screamed like an old lady. Abriya just totally unconcerned 😂
Why did this episode start off so Impactful. I’m just trying to listen and work, but instead I’m getting immersed. Sir Curran ❤️
hey theres simply gotta be another way to get these patreon only episodes - the patreon player is so criminally bad D;
I haven't had any issue. What device are you using to listen?
I'm confused why you say this is the end of the children's story at the end but there's 3 more episodes?
I love the main story and just had to check out this little prequel and it is just as amazing!! Love how the dice lend themselves to the storytelling and couldn't of asked for a better group of people to tell it!!
This is so amazing I love it so much.
what a violently heartwarming show
Amazing. These guys make crying a desirable outcome.
How dareeeee yall 😭
I love coming back and listening to these
This part of the campaign has done my heart so much good. It's so wholesome!
I just cried on my commute to work so I'm suing 😭
Amazing storytelling. Lou's Wild One is perfect. The way you gave life to that idea of something completely different, but deeply known through stories from long ago, was beautiful. The voice, the breath, the Aloof and curious spirit. Magic. In Finnish myths Otso the bear rules the forest, the world of spirits, and I'm feeling this deeply.
Granny weatherwax meets spirited away, totally beautiful, you are all amazing.
Literally my EXACT thought from the moment we met Grandmother Ren.
"he does not like this world, but he likes it here" 😭😭😭 ouch Lou, my heart
Literally openly sobbing in the first 8 minutes. This episode's going to be good.
I think literally every episode so far has made me cry. Fucking incredible work
fuck dude Eursulon is awesome
Jesus, Brennan, I’m at work. Take it easy.
Am I the only person screaming that Grandma Wren is Baba Yaga?!
I am currently listening to these while I work out, and my god I was never expecting that I would have to wipe tears from my eyes in the middle of cardio. But I swear I was crying when Brennan was describing how Suvi cast her spell with the same very cloak given by her mother. Incredible stuff, y’all, and I haven’t even gotten out of the children’s adventure yet. You guys rock.
Damn why do all of you have to make me cry like that. That was incredible!
oh this is what I want to see before watching an episode that just made me weep :P i have to keep reminding myself that I kind of have to expect it with this group
I used to play bass for Silent Honey
Taro is the GOAT
Um, actually i think Taro is the Rooster and Nicholas is the goat XD
This mini series has taken me through a wild roller coaster of emotions and I’m not ready to get off. PLEASE make more episodes of them being children!!! There’s something about their voices and choices as these little ones that pulls much harder on the heartstrings.
I would do ANYTHING, to get the song that plays when Eursulon does anything uplifting (like becoming the billy) on my music apps. It brings me a joy indescribable.
Wonderful work. I hope this stays going for years.
7.5 mins in and I'm crying already. Good job
So funny, heartwarming, and heartbreaking.
This series has already moved me in ways I cannot describe in words. Thank you for this
I fell asleep and am unable to rewind these episodes... Sure would like to listen to this story.
You should be able to scrub through them to go back to the beginning or where you last remember hearing.
death taxes and lou rolling mysterious saving throws in early episodes
I've cried so many times and laughed so many times just during this children's story. I am so excited to start the main campaign
Yup. At the very beginning of this episode, Brennan confirms someone's earlier comment that witchcraft in this world seems very much like witchcraft in Terry Pratchett's Discworld: "Open your eyes, and then open your eyes again."
I was fully expecting the campaign to just follow the children's adventures all the way through to their adulthood sans time skips.
(The) players are leaking (through) are you okay, did you die? cuz we like it here
I could listen to an entire campaign of these children's adventures.
Either Brennan reads Terry Pratchett or "You open your eyes and open your eyes again" is coincidentally smth that's also in the Tiffany Aching series. Given the similarities with the witches there's some Pratchett in there i bet and honestly? I've never been more excited
I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Pratchett and Ghibli were two of the flavours amongst a host of others that have influenced this world, which honestly could not make me happier!
“ I do not like this world but I do like it here.” this line from Lou was the one that hit hardest for me in this episode. Such a beautiful yet sad statement
I would do //anything// for these beans 😭
Just another note of thanks for emotionally destroying me several times per episode. 💜
I moved this week, and all I have to say is thank you for the best podcast to listen to while unpacking and organizing everything. It's made the process an absolute blast. My new neighbors probably think I'm deranged from the way I've been cackling.
For some reason I am pressing play and there's no audio? Is there a fix for this?
i had that happen when listening to the Patreon website on my laptop using the firefox browser, so I switched to Chrome and haven't had any more issues. The Overcast app also has not had any glitches for me.
I listened to the beginning of this, the girls trying to help Eursulon while he sleeps, while my own daughter was sleeping, snoring quietly. Words can't express how precious it was to have her sounds mix in to the scene as it unfolded, and I would highly recommend everybody to listen to this near a sleeping child (just not in a weird way).
I thought of my sister who just had major surgery during this and the beautiful work of protecting someone else's sleep. It's a big feeling.
I cannot explain, in words, how I feel about these podcasts. There are not enough words that I can use and none of them are capable of fully describing my feelings. Just know that I am beyond thankful that I heard about this podcast and for all the work that has been put into it.
“Ass over tea kettle” gang, Erika! Let’s GOOOOO!
I've been getting Studio Ghibli vibes for a few episodes, now (having never seen a Studio Ghibli Film): especially when the melodic singing associated with Ersulon kicks up. I finally got them most intensely when Grandma Wren said he had to pick a guise that would work as long as he wasn't in direct sunlight. My suspicions were confirmed when Erika literally said the words out loud. My imagination is running on all cylinders when Brennan sets a scene, painting a picture in a style I've only scene images of on social media.
Ame's introduction, using too-big brooms to do chores, chasing insane chickens and being so talkative to Suvi when they first meet gave me extreme Ghibli vibes from the off. If you've never seen a Ghibli film, My Neighbour Totoro is a good starting point, and the little sister in that is what I had in my head for Ame.
in the dream when eursulon said “you pauldron—“ and sir corrin said “no, your turn” i fucking lost it. without eursulon’s bravery one of them would have been cursed, but now neither of them are because he turned to protect ame. brennan you owe me an ocean of tears.
fuck, marry, kill? nah nah nah. it’s- doors, sunlight, beds.
Rock beats scissors beats paper? Nah, door beats sunlight beats bed
“Buzzards gotta eat same as worms.”
Lou Wilson in Sdventuring Party: I don’t believe in *special dice* Lou Wilson in WWW: I gotta choose the *best* boyssss
EXACTLY what i thought
Obsessed with the amount of gleeful screaming in this show
The fact that Eursulon’s first quest is a fetch quest is sending me 🤣
Brennan’s slightly shifted NPR sign off voice at the end of episodes is great
i think that's someone else?
What a rollercoaster. Well done❤️👏🫶
Damn Bren, these are the PREQUELS?
Grandpa Gren?
"Grandma Wren, I believe I need more chores"
I am so emotionally attached to these kids by now 😭😭😭😭
Aha!! I knew he was her familiar!! Ugh so good, holy shit
I do not like this world, but I like it here. fucking hell just rip my heart out why don't you
Omg!!! GOOD MORNING. 🤣😂🤣😂
Hahaha, Taro: "Good Morning..."
Aabria saying "she would rather stand away and understand than move closer and be comforted" just broke me. This is amazing
love hearing the little "all for me grog" shanty in the background of the pastoral scenes
ive cried upwards of 3 times in the PROLOGUE. Im gonna die of dehydration when the actual show gets going
"Return to SEND-AR " is now going to permanently infect my vocabulary.
“This is where the story ends” *three more episodes drop*
Yeah. It's like they read minds that we were going to want more and fed us right away.
You guys are amazing! You know how to make a grown man cry with story and performance!
If there is the video of Erika falling from their chair I rlly want to see it primarily cos I want to know if it was cos of how I very nearly fell from my own chair 😂
I THOUGHT FOR SURE CURREN WAS GONNA SAY no, it was not your armor that reflected the curse. it was you turning to save a friend. it was your honor. and I was prepared to bawl my eyes out.
Oh my same!!!!!! The wake up was too soon! I hope that's a repetitive dream with a conclusion.
"You chose danger for yourself when it could have been another's." Sobbing.
Can we talk about how much Lou has managed to cram into "Mmmhmm" in this prologue?
First of all, I’m not allowed to be this emotional over a prologue. That’s illegal.
ok, right off episode 4, cheeks still wet, looking at the time: 9pm. that's fine, take a look at the comments: hmmm maybe i'm not getting hit right in the feels with this one, seems pretty much on the funnier side. 7 minutes in - why tf am i crying again?
I love the animals of this story, Taro, Nicholas, the Fox. I don't know if it is the way that Brennan describes them or the way that the PCs interact with but it makes them feel truly magical.
48:33- the most hilarious noise Brennan has ever made
Brennan knows what he is doing!
Yes. Ostriches do not actually bury their heads in the sand.
Abriaa saying "That's a wrong piece of intel, and I will map too much onto that" just slapped me back into my childhood in a whole reevaluation. Gonna be talkin to my therapist about that!
And sucha fitting user name too for that bit of conversation to click.
I would love this animated movie!! It’s beautiful.
If you guys could stop making me cry that would be great. Lou just gives me so many feelings!
Grandma Wren is actually everything to me. Every episode is perfect???
Tarro!
This one was, as all of them have been, a complete delight.
“The person who pays the highest price for spite is always you.” Please protect Grandma Ren
Oh that hit my heart so much 💔
Y'all this isn't even the "main campaign." What in the actual fuck? My feelings?
The chair moment is perhaps my favorite part of this episode 😂
Ahhhhh!!!
Very excited to listen to it all.
LETSGOOOOO COOL DOG!
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
Ohhhh we’re posting positing
