Yo! The session zero = good vibes is real, but I wonder how much of that is tied up in this being a group of friends in a time of their lives where friendship is easy and almost compulsory? Like we, the audience, feel brought along in the wake of their warm friendship (like with WWW or Misfits) whereas, if this were a group of 30/40 something’s all with their own priorities and lives they have to balance and account for before the intamacy of friendship (aka like solari even between Chee and Ayasa, best friends) this session zero would feel more like world building? Like is the effect Brennan and Lou attribute to session zeroes in actual play just a coming-of-age genre vibe? (at least from the audience’s perspective, as performers it may hit different)

What I loved about this campaign from the beginning was the total immersion. No, “Welcome to [SETTING NAME],” or player character introductions where we find out names, class, etc. Just directly to the story.

We too don't need the kaiju. I would be delighted to spend time with these characters in their everyday lives without a crisis.

The talk about dating reminded me about something my mom said to me a lot when I was a teenager, and which I like to share with people when I can because it’s good advice: don’t ever be so lonely that you don’t care who you spend your time with. It’s better to be on your own than to cling to someone who’s not a good fit for you at best and actively bad for you at worst.

Oh my goodness, what a gem of a fireside. The emotional truths of the characters is incredible- I too made decisions on behalf of my loved ones as a young person who was trying to "spare them" having to take care of me. And poor Lou having to put up with the party not only splitting but wilfully eschewing one another! What an incredible peek behind the curtain, what charming vulnerability in this episode. I felt tender and vulnerable as a result!

On a mathematical level: what percentage of "Kelmp" is Cullen? It's more than 0%

I had a period of my life with in unit coin operated laundry. That drove me crazy; I wasn't mad enough.

It was interesting to me to hear everyone talk about Yaxel being so mature and self-possessed-some of that definitely comes through, but it’s hard for me to square that with his treatment of “Three”-I really read that as fuckboi energy and him not being interested in the person in the group that’s not attractive enough for him to consider worthy of his time (or his friends’ time). I really hope Three gets some plot redemption! But overall I will join the chorus of people as really being in love with these characters and setting, and this was a great talkback ep! I was sad we didn’t get one per episode at first, but y’all brought so much insight and depth to this conversation which I feel like can be partially attributed to having a handful of episodes to work with. I can’t wait to hear more of this campaign!!

The doors that Jujubee opened for characters just going to use the bathroom with no ulterior motives!

Every time Emily or Murph get mentioned I secretly hope to be followed up with an announcement that they’ll be guesting on an upcoming campaign. On that topic though, Beardsly blends in to the group flow so seemlessly it feels like they’ve always been here lol

I need everyone to listen and understand that I would listen to a slice of life campaign with these characters for years, I’m being so for real. And I know it’ll never happen but my dream ending for these characters is that they end up in a poly triad because the way they love each other is so beautiful and heartwarming I can’t stand it 😭😭 And lastly, Yaxel is a love letter to the most charming and enchanting trans mascs I’ve ever met in my life and I’m standing by that.

I’m kinda in the same period of life as the World Turner crew (maybe a couple years older) and I enjoyed hearing you guys discuss your memories and perspectives <3 I’ve had some really tough times throughout my teens and now early 20s and I often struggle a lot with the instability and uncertainty of my life… but I’ve recently moved into a new apartment, adopted a second kitty, and I feel like I’m slowly making things better for myself. It was nice to hear your insights looking back (from a kid who didn’t have mentors or much family guidance). Loving the story so far!! xoxo

This episode was the most amazing way to start my Tuesday. As a religious studies grad, I would like to add that many religions have bonding ceremonies where friends, families, clans, etc make vows to each other.

Love Erika's part about how they could have just played a whole cozy college campaign as these characters, and that being part of why it works so well. One of my favorite pieces of screenwriting wisdom is always: "The characters don't know they're in a story." Like, until the murderer turns up, a teen slasher movie is a coming-of-age romance, as far as the protagonist is concerned.

The Kaiju stuff is great and all but anybody else feel like they could listen to the three PCs living their life in Port Akabor with their team and interpersonal dilemmas slice of life style and be perfectly happy if that was the whole campaign too?
