I LOVE the way Erika is playing Chee—listening to her somehow secure the safety of her entire colony from an ostensibly fully powerless made me realize that “Formidably Diplomatic Woman” is genuinely one of my all time favorite rare archeotypes. To that point, Chee saving her people from imminent doom while in captivity, had the same energy as Olivia Pope (In “Scandal”) rescuing herself from her Kidnappers, while Kidnapped. And that’s genuinely so badass.

Also such an interesting thing to write a character whose religious, moral perception is that the only sin is 'separation'/'moving away from each other' when the premise of this story is the recent expansion of movement across the galaxy after millennia of forced distance between worlds, i.e. a galaxy wide 'movement towards each other'. Very fun character positioning 🤩

I'm curious, anyone else think well eventually learn that xl-zl is one the eirynna that does remember the loss of the hive mind, and was on ghenopaar doing his best approximation of drowning his sorrows.

Brennan really went and made the perfect character vehicle for his philosophy degree 😂

I'm not even remotely done, but "memory mundi" made my heart feel all warm and squishy 🫶✨️ *edit: I love that XL-ZL is blatantly asking the questions that I, as the audience, want answers to. Also, "first INTENTIONAL kidnapping?" 🧐 *edit2: The idea that creating distance is the only sin is so nice 🫶✨️ finaledit: I assume this must be the work of an ally of Ze'Doven's (I can't imagine what else "lean in" would mean), but I really want it to be Chee's partner (which, like, the tone of that blood message is VERY casual, so maybe🤞). I want to know so much more about the shrines and how they function. We are seeing in real-time global politics right now that some factions believe there are strategic benefits to being able to operate as a decentralized system. There is also a benefit to small, highly maneuverable assets. I think the species is primarily interested in relative nonviolence (as XL-ZL is not really tooled for it, although that could just be for members of this particular designation), but it's still going to be fun to see a fictionalized representation of these kinds of ideas. And I love that this could have been represented as a violent, fanatical kind of species that got defanged for everyone's "good" or something, but there was a choice not to go that direction. Love love love. I remain concerned, though, about what's coming across to me as either masochism or an actual martyrdom complex from XL-ZL. I know there was a comment about acquiring power through the unconscious reliance of others, but that hardly seems like a reason to offer to die. Why are we even burning ourselves out for strangers? Does that come from a place of want to or ought to? What is the value the hive placed on the individual as the split occurred? It's one thing to decide that all are one and accept self-sacrifice as a high value for oneself, but I really want to hear that it was a conclusion that was arrived at freely and with tremendous intention. I want to psychoanalyze the robot. Also, like, part of being in relationship with a human like that long-term is that you have to reciprocate with a comparable depth of care. My husband and I are like that--**we would live and die for not just each other, but family members and friends and whoever else we got close to. But the deal is that we have to be much, much more careful about who we get close to than XL-ZL is being. You have to know that positive feedback loop is going to keep running. Otherwise someone can crash hard and not recover. If that's a concern, are the other PCs going to give a shit about that (in time)? I need to know if we are exploiting the robot. It's making my tummy hurt. (But don't tell me now, just let my tummy hurt until the narratively-appropriate moment. I'm only happy when it rains😉). ANYWAY. Chee seems hyperaware of exactly what power they do and don't have. That quality usually has a very specific and gnarly origin. I'm interested to see if it arose from whatever preceded the rebellion or from the rebellion itself. Aabria continues to kill it. I love the way her mind works. We have this local restaurant where the chef, Carlos, worships his craft. He's perpetually visiting tables and spontaneously making off-menu desserts and just, like, photosynthesizing the guests' pleasure in a way that the byproduct seems to enliven everything from the staff to the damn houseplants. Aabria as GM reminds me of Carlos. **(I don't use chat gpt, so plz let me keep my so-lazy-it's-not-even-an-actual-em-dash punctuation).

Aabria's description of why XLZL would want to help Chee is so impactful. I imagined worlds in those few sentences. Possibilities of what may come to pass and what stakes the cast is playing for. XLZL meeting a fragment of the martyr or absorbing all the collectives data and sacrificing himself to become the new prime consciousness within the collective or becoming the focal point for the collectives power and actions.... would be epic. losing a friend, but gaining one powerful ally for what im sure is going to be galactic risks, rewards, and consequences and intrigue. if they are carrying part of the arina(sp?) original consciousness are all on my "I would like to see that" bingo card . With chee seeing her out of her depth repeatedly already and feeling weak compared to the might of a great house or the power behind xlzl makes me think her Arc will be the quiet burner where she amasses a following through her action and ability to turn secrets into actions to tilt the tide. Chees planet may be a resource that is known and one that is not known and discovered in terms of connecting chee to power and ability to take action.. Ze'doven and his casual attitude yet learning about his importance to all houses for some nebulous reason makes me believe that he will wrestle control of his house and maybe another through alliance - either through joining or absorbing, slowing moving from what ever version of importance and priority shifting that chain bikini Princess Leia made towards becoming Senator Organa. Or perhaps he will betray his friends because of house and obligation only to show up before a fell blow is struck to save the day turning sides and overturning his parties consequences. A energy intensive dyson sphere though... So much potential literally and figuratively... To be a dyson swarm/bubble. Perhaps the orina are working towards this in sefret thhrough their networked churches... Makes me think of this idea: We are the universes attempt at understanding itself through our actions, our wonder, and our consciouness pondering the universe through our own lense of self descovery, ever onwards and upwards as well as inwards - until we meet at the origin of all things where macro and micro cease to be meaningful and we are all as one.
