The era of seclusion is over. The 40 Suns reconnect and reunite and find themselves valuable. As borders are drawn across occupied space, the great powers of the galaxy begin their sweep of its dusty corners searching for any golden scraps that remain. Hungry eyes turn towards a tiny asteroid named Ghenopaar, a place where everything is permitted and nothing is forbidden. Strange shapes move through the shadows. The players begin the next phase of their game.
History is being rewritten.

This sounds chaotic in the best way like the galaxy just woke up hungry. Ghenopaar being a “no rules” asteroid already feels like trouble waiting to happen. The cast lineup is stacked too, so you know the storytelling’s gonna hit. Dark themes though, definitely not light listening. Gives that same grind energy as Geometry Dash unlocked everything(https://geometrydashpro.net)unpredictable, intense, and kinda addictive.

I understand that many are concerned about Taylor and Fortunate Horse. They did great work! Also, multiple episodes were released late in the last season of The Wizard, The Witch, and the Wild One. As someone who runs shit for a living, if the MAIN THING that we have to do is late in a very public way, then I would make a change also. I’m sure making art on a strict timeline is not easy or natural for some artists, and that okay. But that also may make things like this not a good fit for them.
Listened to this twice. Just in love and sooooo excited for this story to unfold. Loving all the various Horner corners and sexiness of it all. To just the comedy. Honestly this is just amazing sci-fi story telling and can’t wait to dive more in. CINEMA
Where's Taylor? I'm receiving the lack of transparency as disregard, and the quality of sound production is not what brought me to this patreon.
I sympathize--caring but not knowing is rough, WWW has meant a lot to a lot of people (myself included), and Taylor's music and editing--and, I gather from the Firesides, production instincts--were significant parts of that. But I am sure that it has occurred to everyone at WBN that people would wonder this as soon as the Solari credits block came out (if not sooner). On top of being amazing storytellers they're a seasoned production team with lots of media experience. To me, that implies that there's a reason they're handling it the way they are--probably a good reason. Privacy, boundaries, uncertainty about the future, mutual agreement... But I strongly doubt that it is obliviousness or disregard. Maybe it'll come up on the first Fireside; maybe it'll never come up. Based on a quick look at a less friendly place than this one, attempts to push on this now seem like they're doing at least some harm. i hope that everyone involved in whatever happened is mentally, emotionally, physically, creatively, socially and professionally well, and am leaving it there. I loved this episode and think that Jino and Will are bringing different great things to a different great world... beyond number.
1) The opening sequence is just incredible. SOOOOOOO much going on, enormous hats off and kudos to Erika and Aabria for trusting each other and their audience enough to perform that and really sit in all of the uncomfortable and honest mess of emotions in there. 2) I've had XL-ZL for one day and if anything ever happened to him I would kill everyone and myself. 3) I love how XL-ZL and Ze'Doven's friendship is literally just Brennan and Lou's friendship.

Bold for sure. We’re a long way from Grandma Rens house!! TBH it’s kind of uncomfortable listening for me. I assume/hope this isn’t a major part of the episode or series. I stopping and starting and only about 12 minutes in
TLDR: part of the score is too interesting, I can’t pay attention to the words. Help? I love the episode and I love the score, but I have a request. If it’s not possible I fully understand and I don’t want to insult anyone’s great work or craftsmanship! The parts of the score with jazzy drums full of variations and syncopation and not many other instruments grab my attention so forcefully that I can’t hear the words you’re saying anymore. Would it be at all possible to release the episode without music/with a more continuous drum pattern? Again I feel bad requesting this, and don’t mean to insult the amazing work of Will Savino. Unfortunately I’ve had to pause and rewind the parts where this music shows so many times, in so many small increments, that the episode is bordering impossible to follow for me. I am fully aware this might just be a me problem and I get it if it can’t be accommodated. Thanks for the amazing episode, I’m beyond excited for this campaign and thankful to follow in real time how y’all reshape the actual play world

Could someone do an editing pass on the Youtube subtitles, or are those automatically generated? The PDF transcript is a godsend, with proper spelling of the weird names, etc. I saw about 4 variations on Ghenopaar, none of them how it's actually spelled. If the subtitles are automatic, can the transcription engine be given hints?
YT autogenerates subtitles. It's possible to go in and edit (or upload a subtitle file of ones own) but don't know if they have the folks for that labor.

I was bebopping to the score from the very beginning and then was definitely surprised at where we started, but I’m so excited for a story that leans into “vices” instead of hiding them. All three of the characters are compelling and I’m so excited for a serious (somewhat at least) long form campaign again!

I have this thing that I say when folks (including me) are confused and hopeless at The Powers That Be: "We can find more joy in a dewdrop than they will find after spending their entire lives combing the planet; we have already won any game that matters." I'm going to think about the dildo dishwasher scene a lot. •"Earlier today his mom called" is an exceptional distillation of a particular kind of dread. Props to Lou. Subjectively, his character's indolence is attractive in a gross way, and I can't wait for it to get shattered by real problems. •Thrilled to see a sex-worker represented as deeply professional and savvy while having a well-managed work/life balance. So often, especially in this genre, the exploitation of sex workers (both in their personal and professional lives) is used as an allegory for our careless exploitation of natural resources, and it's nice to not be immediately heading in that direction. I can always trust Erika to zig when others would zag. • Big, huge props to everyone for showing edgeplay being done well with explicit discussion of planning, consent checks, and aftercare. Imo, the more of it we see in thoughtful media, the less people's primary exposures will come from Secretary, Fifty Shades, and badly-executed porn. • Similarly, props for showing that even "unconditional" service that brings the server satisfaction should also have consent. People pleasing only works if you're actually pleasing the people, and not just trying to soothe your own anxiety. This is really close to, like, my whole deal, and I never see it done with as much nuance as it deserves. This can be a really deep well, so I'm excited to see how far we go. •Aabria is a delight as DM. She is so careful to hear and understand what the pcs want and facilitate that for them while also nudging them forward into their arcs. • I also thought the sound was great. Idk what portion of that is due to the new studio vs the sound design team, but good job on both accounts. Re: content warnings--I don't remember exactly how this was sold to us, but I do remember slotting it into the cyberpunk-ish category in my brain. For that genre, I feel like we haven't seen anything particularly intense yet. I can understand, though, how my lack of surprise could just be informed by my familiarity with this kind of story. But also, didn't Fishcakes slit a guy's throat in Icaron? We didn't actually experience any explicit sexual contact here, so I do sort of struggle to understand the difference. If anything, this instance was consensual, right?

" While neither scene bothered me I think a big difference is context - but I don't mean sexual versus non-sexual. Fishcakes killing the guy wasn't even the first episode let alone the first scene so people already knew that was an action setting and to be expecting violence. For Solari it's 'act one, scene one' and this didn't give folks who do have a sensitivity for that content the time to prepare and expect to experience it. So I can understand why that could cause problems and be something they'd prefer a heads up about.
Re: transcripts: the previous transcripts load fine into a Kindle with reformatting enabled. However, this one doesn’t get scanned well for spacing in italics; words get smushed together. I would recommend also providing a transcript in EPUB format alongside a PDF. You can do this by using the Ulysses app, writing the transcripts in Markdown, creating a PDF template & EPUB template, and exporting as PDF and as EPUB. PDF is probably fine for screen readers, but is terrible to read with human eyes on small screens.

This sound design is incredible! For anyone who is enjoying the music and sound I highly recommend checking out the albums “Splendor & Misery” and “Dead Channel Sky” by Clipping. “Splendor & Misery” is album that tells a story set in space (no spoilers here) and often the music becomes the sounds of a creaking space ship. “Dead Channel Sky” is like a cyberpunk compilation album. Great episode y’all!
I do think I would recommend “Dead Channel Sky” as fitting the vibe of this first episode more. Specifically, “Dominator” is a great song to listen to in order to get the general idea of what “Dead Channel Sky” is about
