Shadows of the past
Please, before you will hate me, read my thoughts to the end^^
So:
Actually my first idea was a pretty deep, and I know that this theme is not popular in our community but despite this fact I did a risk to think about parents of the Princesses.
"Each segment has a beginning" and although Sisters are immortal i am pretty sure they was born by... classical way^^
Is this so or not one I can say being sure: they survived much more than one generation.
Which means they can remember ponies who was near to them in past and not exist at the current time.
The places where they lived turned into ruins and thickets of dense forest.
But the magic remembers all.
In this picture I wanted to draw a place which means a lot to sisters and a shadows of that ponies, who also brings them a lot of dear memories.
Who they are? I thought about Princesses's parents, but they can be anyone.
P.s.
Also this picture is a test of a comic style. I thought that drawing background with sharp lines will allow to draw it faster. I was mistaken X)

In the show cannon, Celestia and Luna became alicorns similar to how Twilight did. So their parents likely weren't alicorns either. Your art never ceases to amaze, my dude.
I hope it means this because it is like the souls stayed and are not gone or something.
I realy like it and think it has a ground why the birds don't be in the water.

Indeed it is very deep. The down side of immortality is a very hard thing to come to terms with, yet not many people actually think about it and would wish for immortality in a heartbeat if given the opportunity
yeah, I agree with you. To know that you will see death of all your parents and friends... this is a very hard thing. Honestly I also had a thought that Celly and Luna don't want to have friends about this reason
I absolutely love the style and the pre-Equestria Luna, Celestia family. I personally imagine the Faust alicorn and a dark star themed stallion as their parents. I think it’s pretty awesome thinking about how they formed the original barrows and towns
Lol, Faust alicorn also was in my idea)) But I decided to draw random ones without style and color because no one knows how they looks. + this brings a bit of mysteriosity to the picture)
It looks so peaceful, love your idea! Feels like a lot of stories can emerge from this work. ( even the birds is sun and moon theme~)

And that Celestia has her wing around Luna. They feel the presence of the past ponies in the pool. I'm sure this will header a Drawfriend on EQD.

This is nice I also had my own thoughts about their parents and with my friend help we created our version of them
I agree, this is a very interesting (and even mysterious) theme) I really would love if authors will touch this theme someday

So everyone have to be a very neat to touch this theme^^ I was not sure you will understand me^^

I do often think what is like for the Sisters and if they miss their parents. And that thought makes me feel very sad. I do like the picture a lot.

No hate here. It seems far more likely than not to me that they had parents, and that those parents either were not immortal or were killed in a battle long ago. Great work.
