When you pay for your Patreon!

Hello everyone,

I've noticed that I've lost a few people this month before they have paid for any of the content. Patreon does not charge any of you before the 1st of the month, so I haven't actually been paid for any of the work yet. There is nothing I can do to stop people cancelling their pledge after downloading all of the PDFs etc. which I find incredibly unfair to all of you wonderful people who are supporting me.

I understand that anyone can have money issues, but please contact me if you feel you need to cancel after you have taken content. Anyone who pledges and then cancels before paying anything will be blocked from all content if they try to pledge again the next month.

Thank you all again for following me!

Kind regards,

Richard

Doesn't Patreon charge them at the beginning of the next month once they sign up, like a compromise or so? Anyway, worry not, we're still here ;D

This is not fair for you or paying Patreons. Really sorry to here people are abusing the system. Really glad you are keeping up the hard work and appreciate it.

Hey man, sorry to hear about this. I just want to say I think your content is great and look forward seeing what you come up with going forward. :)

When I signed up this crossed my mind, if patreon released a way for you to charge on sign up then this wouldn't be an issue (like the beta as stated above). And releasing content for everyone to see or like you do on Instagram is more than enough for people to gauge what the paid content is like. I signed up just for the fact I love your work and wanted to learn more techniques and I'm seeing and will be paying for is so much better than I expected!

Another user I support has had the same problem. People join, take content, then cancel before paying. She's switched over to a pay-for-access model, and it's been working better

Sorry the feature is still in beta. <a href="https://patreon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/210291283-What-is-charge-up-front-How-do-I-get-it-?mobile_site=true" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://patreon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/210291283-What-is-charge-up-front-How-do-I-get-it-?mobile_site=true</a>

It looks an ideal feature. I'm not sure why Patreon set it up the way they did to begin with. I want to be as fair to everyone as possible as I really appreciate every person that follows me.

I believe there is a way to charge on joining. There are a couple of creators who do just that.

Well that is very much against the spirit of supporting an artist!?! Real shame.
