DevLog #33
Hi everyone!
It's been a month since Part C was released, so it's about time we gave you an update on what's next... Chapter 3 Part A.
🥭A New Approach to Releases
To begin with, I'd like to share something important that will have an impact on future releases: we intend to make each update significantly shorter. We're talking about 400-500 renders each release. Maybe a little more if I reached that number in the middle of a scene, but not much more. Even if that means there won't be any spicy scenes or cliffhangers, I believe it's better to keep a more consistent release schedule, both for you, because you'll be able to move forward with the story with less time between updates, and for me, because knowing exactly how much work is left and dealing with something on a smaller scale is much more manageable. I don't want to repeat what happened in Part C under any circumstances.
As a result, I will be unable to provide specific information about the number of parts in Chapter 3. But one thing is certain: more than three. It makes me wonder whether it would be a good idea to change the version naming rules. Maybe we'll end up with something like 'Part H' or 'Part Q'? 😅 What are your thoughts?
As for the status of Chapter 3 Part A, you can assume that things are looking much better than in previous releases, owing to the smaller scope we're aiming for right now. In fact, I will begin the rendering process very soon!
🥭Early Access for Getting Hot tier
I've also decided to release a beta version of the game to the Getting Hot ($22) tier 5 days earlier. The main reason is that I had to push out two silent updates for Part C to address last-minute bugs, one of which was particularly nasty. I'd rather provide an extra early access window so that I can receive feedback and bug reports. I'm also going to try to prioritize getting new content out over obsessive polishing, and those five days give me some breathing room to address the most pressing issues.
🥭Themes and Girls Poll Winners!
Finally, for paid members ($5+), the winning theme for this month's special render set was 'Bad Girl', and the two winners were Stella ($10+) and Melinda ($5+)!
As I've mentioned before, special renders now follow a fixed monthly schedule. That means you can expect the first one on the 14th and the second one on the 21st, for the $10 and $5 tiers respectively.
We're working on it! Thank you for everything!🧡
See you soon,
Mango

We can confirm that, if poor Mango were to release Chapter 3 in its entirety without dividing it into parts, he would end up in a madhouse 😅👍.
Idk guess it depends on how well you have the story planned? If each update's interesting and is moving the game forward, sure.
It will partly depend on where we are in the story, but I do plan to pick up the pace of the plot.
I’m here to play visual novels, not to sit in a mathematics derivations class. 😭 Can’t you just develop it as Part 1, Part 2, and after maybe five parts call it an episode or something? Otherwise, I’ll probably get kind of lost. :D
No worries, I don't think this requires any math 😅. The problem is that I've already begun labeling the parts with letters, and changing how they are named now would confuse a good deal of users. Not everyone follows the devlogs or stays completely up to date. The chapter idea could work, but it would conflict with several deliberate development decisions I've made, such as inserting a flashback at the start of each chapter to gradually expand on what happened between the MC and Lilly. To keep the player's expectations consistent, I must follow the same rule every time: new chapter, new flashback. I believe the ones I already have planned are enough for what I want to say about them.
Making small updates is actually a good idea. Yes it'll be annoying because it'll most likely only be like a couple of scenes and thats it. BUT at least, your releasing updates with something at least. Maybe after your done with Chapter 3, you can try to do 3-4 month updates or something for Chapter 4
We need to weigh both options and see which one benefits the project more. We'll find out as new versions are released.

Will you cut planned content to release updates sooner? Or will the total amount of content remain the same, just divided into more parts? 🤔☕.
No, no, no!😄I don't plan to cut any content that was already intended. It's exactly what you said: the same content split into smaller parts, which means more releases.
Shorter releases can be a two edged sword - more frequent releases, but with subsequently less play time, can be quite annoying for many players, so you will need to be careful how you balance that. Having said that, if it keeps you motivated and the AVN remains active as a result, then do what is best for you (and the AVN) in the long run. Just be aware that some players may wait for a few shorter chapters to be released before re-subscribing.
Yes, I understand what you are saying, but I believe the math would be the same either way. For example, if someone decides to contribute whenever there are major content updates, but with this -shorter- update format they wait until there have been two or three new releases, their support is essentially the same, or at least fairly close. Thank you for understanding. In the long run, I believe we should release as much content as possible rather than focusing on details that can always be refined later, once a large portion, if not all, of the game is complete. It's not so much about motivation as it is about avoiding a repeat of 2025, which was a particularly agonizing development period for a variety of reasons.
