There were actually 2 different raids on Einar's village, and the first killed his dad. It was mentioned in a conversation between Einar and his mom. Thorfinn may have participated in the first raid, which was when Einar was a child, whilst the second happened when Einar was grown up, which is where he got taken as a slave.

Most of the story between canute and harold is based on actual events so the writers dont really have a say on what happens with them

Just my opinion, I think canute did learn something from askeladd where he fought with tactics (s2 e5) and not by fighting in war with force like his dad did which only took him 3 years to get England. But i agree that it's sad to see him like that because as a king he can't really trust many people. I could be wrong though ❤️
