Grand Spire City, Upper Level [80 x 80]
Deep below the surface, hidden within a twisting system of caverns and waterways, is a large bustling port city. Because of its critical positioning in such a harsh environment, Grand Spire is a neutral and relatively peaceful place.
Named for the massive rock column in the center of the city that plunges below the water, Grand Spire was built within it as well as in the surrounding caves. Despite its critical function now as a center for trade and safety in the harsh expanses of the Underdark, this imposing city began as little more than a smuggling outpost.
In fact, the glyph defenses found at each main entry point were established during this time. In order to open the gates, someone must stand on the interior glyph and speak the password. There are two passwords for any given gate; one opens the gate, and the other teleports anyone and anything in the outside hallway to one of many locations within a mile of the city.
Once arriving in the Upper Level of Grand Spire, some more affluent adventurers may have the need to stable their mount. Fortunately, for those with the coin, a well attended stable sits just between the Mercantile District and the Residential District. Once the mounts have been tended to, adventurers will often find themselves renting out a room at the nearby Inn. A small and simple establishment with few amenities, it is a much safer and warmer alternative to spending the nights in the streets.
For those who do find themselves sheltering in the streets and amidst the various nooks and crannies of the caves, safety is simply not to be expected. While the city boasts an impressive Guard and is known for its neutrality, one can still easily find themselves in the wrong side of town at the wrong end of a blade. Not to mention the cities notorious pickpockets....
On the other hand, those fortunate enough to own or rent a home within the city generally enjoy a great deal of safety and comfort, even with the most modest of homes. The Residential Districts in the Upper Level of Grand Spire are lively and kept quite clean. Many residents here are friendly to travelers and won't hesitate to strike up a conversation, even if it's just to discuss the latest specials over at the nearby restaurants.
Nestled between the Residential Districts is where the Guild Quarter can be found. While the space here is quite limited, that doesn't stop it from becoming packed with adventurers and concerned citizens alike, all looking for work or solutions to problems. Each Guild is almost certain to have a representative here, or at least know how to get in contact with one. Some Guilds even have their own small rooms here, often dedicated to a new project of sorts.
While Grand Spire does enjoy a general state of peace, it is largely thanks to their skilled and dedicated City Guard for keeping that peace amongst so many opposing factions and species. The Upper Level in particular is most likely to see fights or other criminal activity break out, and thus has a dedicated guard break-room and armory just outside of the Residential Districts.
The Guard frequently changes up their shifts and patrol patterns, as a matter of policy. Because of this, there is just about always someone here, resting up or otherwise preparing for their next shift. Those who decide to cause problems for the Guard won't likely find themselves invited over for a drink, sadly.
One thing that visitors tend to note about Grand Spire is just how clean it usually is. And not just the city itself, but its people as well. Part of this is due in thanks to the well maintained public bath and bathrooms available in the Upper Level, ensuring that even the most down and out people can at least stay clean, and in turn, keep the city streets clean.
The cities Mercantile District is one of the biggest draws, bringing in all manner of customers and merchants alike. Of the many fine and famous establishments, two beloved restaurants with a well known feud between them seem to be endlessly competing to see who can make the District smell the best.
Arguably the cities busiest and most beloved area, the Temple District is one of Grand Spire's greatest treasures. Temples to a variety of deities can be found here, and no shortage of preachers and priests can be found all around the district. Tourists beware however, as not all deities worshiped here are Good or even Neutral, and some may simply be looking for their next sacrifice....
Whatever your reason for visiting Grand Spire may be, no visit could be complete without exploring the Upper Level of this city. Whether you're simply looking to replenish your supplies, or to settle down for a while, the amenities on this level are sure to provide most adventurers with everything they could want, and more.

Unfortunately nothing to report with this one yet, very sorry about that
In the future I'm afraid :p They are currently in development and will be released as they're finished, and packaged up together. With some luck I could have them done this month, but we'll see how things shake out.
