Me, still expecting adventure games to commonly categorize shields as weapons rather than armour parts.

The show “Deadliest Warrior” showed this on their “Spartan vs Ninja” episode, and the edge-on impact of the massive Spartan shield.
One of square enix's more recent turn based strategies did this. Might have been Triangle Strategy?
So, shields are *primarily* defensive items, however, the fact it is in your hand means you could hit someone with it, but the sword/mace/axe/etc. will be much more effective. Shield strikes are primarily used to set up for the killing blow.
In Hades, as one of the Infernal Arms for the run, you can choose Aegis, the Shield of Chaos. It's primary attack is literally just slugging people in the face with the edge of the shield :D
Agreed
One of the things I loved about Dragon Age: Origins was how many shield-smacking interrupts the sword-and-board warrior spec got.
Anything becomes a weapon when in need of a weapon! It is just some are better weapons than others.
“Tell me how the grass tastes, little man!”
I love that clip so much
Ow! So many broken noses!
I often use them in such a manner in blade and sorcery 😁
In AC Valhalla, you can use shields as weapons. You can even dual weird them... and beat the crap out of people with them
Shield happens 😁
😂
Grass tastes better than a shield rim......
Looks yummy
My favorite faction in Necromunda was the Enforcers, because they could shield bash using heavy shields, counting as a strong, blunt weapon
❤️
"That's an offensive weapon, that is!"
