Old VS New

I know, I know. Insert "Fate takes breaks from work by working" here, but for real tho.

I've been redesigning the Doodlettes for Placeholder's Dungeon and figured I'd try a hairstyle and lips on Wizardette.

You think I should switch or keep the original style?

Depending on your intentions for the game, you could possibly include some hot-swap styles for the various characters. Stuff like hair and outfit changes. Or were you more intending for one look per class?

I wish that could be a thing, but not within the limitations of the Ren'py / Python environment I'm coding this in. The animated sprites are frame-per-frame PNG snapshots at 30 fps, at around 2 seconds per cycle. That's 60 PNGs for one single unit moving (which I managed to cram down to roughly 2.5 MB per unit so far if I only use resized versions for combat and use only stills for the VN portions). Making alternative versions would multiply the size of the game by ridiculous margins. And yes, I've considered making them in parts (like hairpieces and clothing accessories and whatnot) separately and building them in-game to save space, but the problem with that is that when you fade a model in or out, the alpha channel overlaps (you see the "joints" of the pieces used to build the sprite), which basically shows where all the parts are being cut at, and I sadly haven't found a way to work around that, so... My options were either the former or the later. I went with the first one.
