hey related q for burgerdrome: have you been following Overwatch League and the high number of pro players suffering burnout/depression due to no players union protecting them? (unlike other pro SPORTS leagues in the us)
Hey we didn't get to this on air but yes I have and it's very alarming. I think OWL is doing some good things (esp WRT player salaries being guaranteed) but they're not doing anything to address the burnout and in fact may be making it worse than other esports, as some players have indicated during interviews. OWL have said they're not opposed to unionisation but efforts to introduce a players association there are happening much more slowly than they are for more established esports like CSGO and LOL. I hope they can take inspiration from what's happening in those scenes.
This seems like a glib remark but it’s something that genuinely baffles me: aren’t all the right wing talking head grifters embarrassed that that all have the same take on every news story as each other? I ended up buying RDR2 because I didn't want Rockstar employees to miss out on bonuses (that and I wanted the game of course) but sometimes it feels like a losing situation each way.
