Traffic Tool Update 1.9 — Major Fixes & Lots of New Features

First, an apology for the state of the initial 1.8 release. That update introduced major foundational changes to clean up and improve the tool long-term, but it also caused a number of unexpected bugs. All known issues from the previous 1.8 release have now been fixed, and the tool should run stable and clean again.
Alongside the fixes, this update also introduces several major new features:
Realistic Vehicle Deformation
Traffic vehicles now support deformation with visible crash damage, making accidents and collisions feel far more dynamic and believable. The deformation system is already using advanced logic to calculate crunch zones and material-type based effects. You can also trigger fire and explosions, resulting in ''Burnout Paradise'' like chain reactions.Reworked Police Chase System
Police chases have been completely redesigned. Instead of simply rubberbanding behind the player and ignoring traffic, police cars now use advanced logic to navigate traffic realistically. They actively maneuver through vehicles, attempt to get ahead of the player, and try to slow or block them.
Rubberbanding still exists as a rare fallback to prevent police from getting stuck, but most chases now rely on this improved AI system, resulting in far more dynamic and exciting situations.High-Speed Lane Change Logic
Traffic vehicles can now perform lane changes at higher speeds, allowing them to move aside when the player approaches from behind.
This same logic is also used by police and race vehicles, creating more believable and responsive traffic behavior.Race Cars in Traffic
Occasionally, faster race cars now appear in traffic. These vehicles drive more aggressively and perform their own lane changes.
If you drive next to one and honk three times, it enters race mode and attempts to push through traffic as fast as possible, effectively starting a race with the player.Dynamic Ambient Audio System
A new advanced ambient audio system dynamically mixes environment sounds based on location and surroundings.
Near forests you’ll hear nature sounds, highways produce traffic ambience, cities have urban soundscapes, and many other variations are blended in real time.
This creates a constantly changing atmosphere that adapts naturally to any map and location.Pedestrian Walking Mode
Press P to exit your vehicle and walk around in first- or third-person view. In this mode you can:
Interact with vehicle extras (like opening the hood)
Push or pull your vehicle if it gets stuck off-road
Be pursued by police even while on foot during a chase
New Phone System
Holding P opens a phone interface that provides quick access to useful functions, including:Calling your vehicle to a nearby lane
Spawning police vehicles
Spawning race cars
You can access the map or radar from there, also there are some more useful and fun features ;)
This update focuses both on stability and on adding systems that make traffic, chases, and general gameplay feel more alive and dynamic. More improvements and refinements will follow as development continues towards the 2.0 update. since the new csp & pure updates that got released yesterday the app keeps crashing all traffic stop & have to restart itt works around 10 to 15 minutes than crash
I understand that this is a traffic tool which make cars move. But it would be cool to be able to add parked cars like in parking lots. And also make traffic cars to use their traffic signals. Or at least include this possibility. Thank you!
Really love your work and especially what you’ve been doing with the traffic planner. I commented on Reddit but thought I’d share here still: If I may ask, what are some of your future plans with the police mod? I was trying this out in the NFS Most Wanted map and thought it would be really cool if you could be chase by different police types. I also couldn’t figure out how to spawn my own cop cars so I was only ever really chased by 1 or 2 units. Finally, with the score system available for evading traffic, will there be any way of adding a “bounty” system for destroying or evading cops, or a type of police chase point system/multiplier? This would be perfect for those of us wanting to revisit our childhood dreams in Need for Speed maps etc

can you please make when if you crash into a car you dont fckn stop and the traffic car drives normaly you could better make it like in no hesi that you pase trough the car but with friction and not a clean phase
just disable crash physics, cars will then not stop if you crash
The greatest modder for assesto corsa right now really good work! Everything is working as intented beside the color of the taxi but it is not a problem at all more of like a nick pick but cant wait to see what other good stuff you realease next
Other than police cars that handles like F1, pretty great update. Fully working replay is the main reason why I like it. Haven't test it all functions, and maybe should do some googling for adding cars in traffic but overall, 9 out of 10. Keep up with a good work!

Hi, I have a problem that no matter how many cars I configure I get almost empty streets in SRP_0.9.4_PTB_1 and Hamburg_v1.3. Ocasionally I see a car or even a police car, but the streets are mostly empty. I noticed that on the beginning I get around 5-10 cars, but when I overtake them, then a single car appears every 1 minute or so. Can you advice what should I do to fix it?

Ive found an issue where the car amount resets with the refresh traffic on teleport button. I want it to refresh but keep my set car amount. Other than that also trouble getting the phone to show up, doesnt work with the app or holding p

this is a great update! thank you. having heaps of fun with it. totally tranformed the game. some Taxi vans are bright orange or red. apart from that all realyl good.

Is it possible to change the keybind for the pedestrian mod ? Change it to something different than P
Lights: Fade in (Front) Max 250m This still doesn't work unfortunately. The headlights only come on about 100m out even if slide is set higher than 100m. It is fun seeing the little subcompact in front of me blow some exhaust flames! Police chases and crashes are great now.
the dim glowing dots of headlights come on much further out, but the actual cone of emitted light from the headlights turns on much closer. Seems less than 100m really.

I just signed up because of this new version and already problems. WHY are no traffic lanes available for SRP even though I have your traffic json and surface file in tatsumi? Please help.
Before commenting, you should read the installation instructions. After installation, the app prompts you to update the file, even offering instructions. Install the mod correctly, and don't be afraid to make a mistake. Your computer won't explode from doing something wrong. The mod's author, however, will likely get tired of answering everyone the same questions, especially with a guide.

it is not perfect but its a HUGE step forward compared to the old version - for now the approach is rather to have police follow fast, instead of police constantly brakechecking. Don't worry, I am will to work out a realistic approach, this really is just the first step into a whole new direction. thanks for the feedback :)

it is possible to get away, police will only rubberband 2 times, then it can not rubberband again. Or you can also just crash police cars out of the way ;)
assetto est une simulation et non un jeu au sens pur...etes vous d'accord?...je pense que oui..
If you need a simulator, play racing simulators. AC isn't a simulator anymore. It's a simarcade with tons of features that wouldn't be worth missing. If you don't think this mod is worthy of playing, just go to the Nordschleife for the billionth time and feel at home playing a simulator. Everyone masturbates as they please. I recommend trying the Assetto Strike mod to resolve this issue. Gun mod. Author: Gold
