It happens almost never, but I think calling someone a philosophical zombie might be just about the most offensive thing ever.
"We're a giant tech monopoly, laws do not apply to us, lol" Nice, detail, Jeph ^^
Oh god. I can't handle people linking things without comment. I mean, thanks for the link, I guess, but if I wanted to dig through the trash that's where I'd be right now. (Yes, I get the irony of thinking I'd get something useful from facebook.)
sorry i am drawing a blank, when and who did she meet?
Perhaps I'm very naiive, but I don't get it. Maybe I'm overthinking. Is the point of this strip merely that Greg is a bot? (i.e. an automated account that posts synthesized updates without any human intervention) Or is there some kind of deeper political point that Jeph is making? I get the feeling that there's some subtle political point because the title and caption refer to tech billionaires, but I'm not sure exactly what point the comic itself is trying to convey...
I suspect it is intentionally at least somewhat open to interpretation, but one way to look at it is definitely "fuck you mark zuckerberg, because facebook has let us become philisophical zombies". It would have been unthinkable to read the news today and go "huh." and move on to the next news item like nothing is wrong.
a robot acting like a twitterbot is a bit like Pintsize hanging out with kitchen appliances, right?
What does her shirt say?
"Robot Overlord", I think.
Patreon is a little disturbingly similar looking....
Welcome to web design 2019, it's boring as hell but super functional.
interesting huh
Oh yeah, New Tool album! Huzzah! (and their discography is now available in Napster)
A little 'Killing in the Name of' for Facebook?
So he's a bot, and in this universe AI without consciousness (philosophical zombie) behaves like a chat bot?
aren't we all?
I for one welcome our AI overlords
WAVY HAIR ROKO IS STAYING???? Yes...............
Like Roko’s new hairdo!
A trail that leads nowhere comes back to itself.
& a donut without a hole is a danish ...
I for one will welcome our robot overlords.
Zuckerberg is a bot himself?
So the AI body person is a literal 'bot" that lacks intelligence, natural or artificial? Seriously, I could write that bot and I'm a very out-of-date developer.
Lacks consciousness and, not necessarily intelligence.
I can't read her cute top...any help chat?
Nvrmind....I should have read chat first. XD
And now we need "Robot Overlord" hoodies.
What do you mean, "now," human?
Now do Elon Musk!
I think at this point I've lost all sense of object permanence and have clearly begun just shipping whichever non-related characters are in a given strip
I’m proud of myself that I made it to panel 5 before thinking that way too :)
Share an article about how screwed up it is to give robots on parole sub standard bodies with him on Facebook.
"Robot Overlord" ? the power of positive computing for Beeps
Short Attention Span Theater.
100% accurate screen cap in panel 4 ;-)
Beeps and her "Robot Overlord" shirt! Adorable! And Roko seems to be in a good mood! And yes, facebook could be soooooo much better than it is.
Could have a randomization cube for subject matter to search. Random neutron from a hunk of radium hits one of the detectors, guy decides he's going to look at something different.
I mean clearly he's just a bot account, nothing unusual about that. /s
Better a philosophical zombie than the flesh-eating variety, I guess... Or are you saying that Facebook itself is a philosophical zombie? I think you could definitely make that case.
I agree. Fuck Facebook. Fuck Zucc. That site used to be fun, now it's nothing but ads, drama, and fake people.
A little personal for a first date, I should think.
Funnier if it said "Human Overlord" but I want one
another facebook bot
Facebook is why I will never go to my 25 year high school anniversary reunion. I’ll just get a bunch of pop up ads for misinformation right before I get to the drink line.
my prior high school reunion is why I won't go I mean, my classmates are great and all, but, socially, I connected more with someone's spouse who had no idea who everyone was
