Tick Tock

A comment from '24, end of in fact. I use the word 'Bleah' in my writing and occasionally it will bleed into social media and tweets. I had to add it to my dictionary. I just hadn't realized that Jeph might have been the originator. Thanks, Jeph
That's only if the clocks tick. If you use electronic clocks and keep them all in sync with NTP, you're fine. ;)
lol, I love Brun so much.
That was a cautionary shoutout to collectors everywhere. I'm thinking right now of old guys with garages full of action figures.
What about young guys with shelves full of waifus?
Well, no argument there, <a href="https://youtu.be/3isQI0nXQRE?t=33" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Emmett Brown</a> was definitely not entirely sane.
"that way lies madness" is why i'm a patreon
dord.horse has gone away :(
NO! I was sure Alice Grove was going to discover that system...
My grandmother collected clocks. Lots of them, ticking, ticking. The top of the hour could be pretty intense, especially at 11 and 12. I think this is spot on.
This makes me think of the opening to this bit from The Goon Show: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctM_Rvgjfpo" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctM_Rvgjfpo</a>
Get a big enough collection of anything and it ends up owning you, not the other way around.
Especially wealth.
I can't help but think of Jeremy, the Completely Sane clockmaker from Terry Pratchett's Thief of Time
Collecting clocks eventually sends you a little cuckoo?
Looks like someone's been playing Sunless Skies. The whole Royal Horological Office is about something like last panel... and then it gets worse. Much worse.
All those out-of-sync ticks really will drive you insane, though. Makes my skin crawl just thinking about it.
That's a real concern
Brun do you...know this from experience?
hey, if you haven't already check out "theif of time" by (GNU) Terry Pratchett. Characters are very similar to Brun

One of my biggest pet peeves is clocks with second hands that don't land on a tickmark when they tock. I had jury duty a couple of years ago and the clock's second hand kept persistently landing about 2/3 of the way from one tick to the next, every single tock, both on the downswing and the upswing. I felt like I needed medicating by the end of the day.
Mine never lands on the tockmark when it ticks. You decide which is worse.
The last panel makes me think of 'Midnight by the Morphy Watch', though that's more chess-focused than clock-focused.
Ohh-wah ohh-wah oh ohhh
I think you mean the collector starts "tok-ing" back. Talk, tok. I'll go now...
Depends on what makes them tick...
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Clockthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl f’tocking.
I think this wins the internet, today
We have 2 clocks in one room, the seconds take turns going in and out of phase as one is slightly faster than the other one. I can imagine enough of them would get.... interesting.
Brun is, in her own way, among Jeph's more interesting characters. Those last few panels bring to mind Alice (of Alice Grove, natch).
Talk about being overclocked.
When I bought my house, it was owned by the person Brun is describing. Luckily, they took their time. On quiet nights, I still hear ticking.
I am absolutely here for the clock madness. I need all of it.
It seems like every time Clinton talks to Brun, the conversation suddenly takes a dark turn.
It probably why he keeps coming back!
