I would think Lemon had 2047 sisters, for a total batch size of 2048 (2^11, a nice neat binary number). Having 2048 sisters would make her part of a batch of 2049, which is an uninteresting number (prime factors 3 and 683).
Unless in a long model run the previous 1024 AIs and the following 1024 AIs are your 'siblings.'

booting into protected virtual memory, possibly constantly backed up to the AI equivalent of The Cloud. On system destruction, the AI boots into this space, overriding the (now nonfunctioning) peripherals (eyes, 'frontal cortex thought', etc). Here they can come to terms with their mishap perhaps, and choose what their next step might be. Or if they want to just 'float on', this virtual space is a fine equivalent to AI Heaven. There. I just pulled all that outta my butt, You're welcome.
Roko in a white onesie reminds me of Alice's armor in Alice Grove.
Her mind seems intact, so her physical brain/AI drive is most likely undamaged. Her body is almost certainly a total loss, and her brain probably isn't still attached to it or anywhere near it. I think the overrides might be a sort of repression reflex to prevent psychological trauma, or perhaps something being applied as a sort of anaesthetic.
I suspect that had at least the system diag and external input checks had been allowed, it would have alerted her to her current lack of a body. So yeah, kind of like an anesthetic. You really don't want a patient waking up and realizing that they have no arms or legs, without having a chance to brace them for it.
At least her personality is intact! The shock may make her hair turn white though...

Makes me wonder if they were all the result of "Mom" having a really bad case multiple-personality disorder and the chosen way to help "cure" her was to split off each personality into their own core and develop on thier own. The truly messed up part of all of this? Roko just quit her job which very likely had the AI equivalent of full medical that had to include chassis repair up to full replacement due to the nature of her being a cop. :(
Y'know, I was wondering about that. Wouldn't Roko have to give notice about quitting her job? I know US labour laws are a *little* more flexible than ours (I'm British), but she'd have to give at least two weeks' notice, right?

Oh dear, Roko's 'very high level of body integration' is not going to work in her favour here. Also, Lemon might be a licensed AI therapist but I don't know yet that they're a very good one. Also also, I suppose that Jeph's comment that the lubricant that Roko sprayed into her eyes to simulate crying smelt 'lemony' is coincidence...

Sorry folks, but Roko is dead. Lemon is just St. Peter "in a form more familiar." The pancakes question is part of setting up her idealized perfect RoboHeaven(tm).
Jeph has revealed in past strips that the HDs that store the core programming and personality are incredibly tough. It's likely their "black boxes" if you will would be able to survive nearly any accident. So it's really unlikely that she's "Dead" dead. Just PARTLY dead.

Melon is the odd one out
Everyone seems to be missing the most important bit. Roko is alive and her memories intact. Yes, the road ahead is rough, but she's still here. I'm a little teary in relief on that part.
What do you want to bet tomorrow's strip starts with another reboot frame and Lemon saying, "Welcome back."

I can see where this is going. Crushbot feels so bad about injuring Roko that they offer to get her a replacement chassis. Crushbot has ties to a private military contractor. Roko becomes a fighter jet. May kills everyone out of jealousy.
I was thinking that they could spin it that Roko was off the force and so they just give her a stock body... which turns out the be the same as May's. Which could get interesting as people start to talk around Roko thinking she is May.

Well, on the plus side, her memories appear to be intact right up to the accident, yet excluding the actually being flattened part. But with her level of body integration, this is going to be a rough ride. BTW, I love the little detail of the wobble lines on Lemon's ahoge when Roko's shaking her.

I would argue the other way round. The likely pulled what would be they equivalent to Roko's black box and hooked that up outside of her body to assess if there was any damage to *that* unit and her core construct. If her chassis is that far gone that basic core function is down (vs just missing limb function, etc) It's rather bad. Makes you wonder if (and why not, if not) there is such a thing as insurance for AI's. You would think it would have come up and Faye and Bubbles would have talked about it. I imagine AI coverage would be like auto, where you can get limited liability all the way up to full coverage.
