Jeph's writing is incredible. This is peak science fiction. While so many of us are reading this as funny AI antics, I (and others?) are enjoying the deeply dystopic cyberpunk horror. Both are true.

One time in college, a stoner buddy nearly lit his hair on fire while we were passing the bong around. Considering it’s almost entirely populated by former wunderkinds who are really good at exactly one thing but hopelessly incompetent at everything else, I feel like hiring Claire to help organize all the intellectual quirkiness there is equivalent to putting a band-aid on a computer that started on fire a couple hours ago

Ever since Moray mentioned the photosynthesis ticking clock I've been significantly more worried about how long it's going to take them to debug this. It is possible that I worry too much.
