No One Told You Life Was Gonna Be This Way

Just gotta say -- that is the most QC gag ever.
Liz looks particularly Faye like in that second panel.....
It's that blissful expression that follows committing wanton acts of violence.
Amazing twist! Love it!!!
Well, Liz is certainly playing her role of standing up for Moray, to the point of unexpected beneficiaries…
Also, very good form on that strike from Liz - most people grip too tight and don't get that full reach extension - good te-no-uchi. Shoulders a little tense maybe but you can't argue with the result :)
Ah, Woom Device, we knew you had it in you.
From WOOM to WHANG
Surprise!!!!
Reference to Matthew Perry being the first Friend to go or just a morbid coincidence?
So, is Phobe small, or is it bigger on the inside?
Percussive science.
Omg, I don't even like Friends, but I think this was my favorite strip yet.
I never saw Friends, and don't get the ref, but loved this strip anyway.
I don't know what I expected, but it was not this
Errrr... did no-one in Cubetown notice they had a staff member (I'm assuming) missing? Also, how did she get *in* the machine?
They say right there that her coworkers thought she was on vacation. And I'm assuming she was as drunk as the other two were when they built the Device and voluntarily climbed in. My question is, how the hell did she *fit*?
Oh! It just hit me. Woom device ~= DOOM device! Woom being the less ominous version...
Gotta hand it to them; a pipe wrench *is* probably the most hammer-like of the non-hammer hand tools.
Well I did not expect *that*
Neither did Liz :)
The plastic shredder couldn't stop Randy...
Still couldn’t find the hammer.
Your jobs a joke, you’re broke, your love life’s doaaaaaa 🎶🎵
Only problem is now Liz is incentivised to smash every weird box she finds in case it contains a trapped robot.
Oh no. Run, Floating Black Slab Emitting a Low Hum, run! Err, I mean... float! Like you already are but, you know, faster!
You don't accrue PTO at Cube Town. It's more of a flex time situation.
Sometimes they flex Time so much it breaks...
Damnit Jeph, just, damnit.. clapclapclapclap
I think that's the biggest whang I've ever seen.
But only the second biggest that Maxwell Smart has seen.
Is that yellow polygon a reference to N.K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy?
A Cubetown resident even more neglected than Liz was. Liz is not sure how to feel about this.
Ah, but she was "only" stuck in there for weeks - she would have to be stuck for years in order to outdo Liz
👏👏👏👏
That's no cat! Jeph outweirded me. Magnificent!
it isn't easy being purple
I'm intrigued about what Violence & Regret's opinion of Liz's solution will be.
They'll be very disappointed. They've been asking to smash that device with a wrench for weeks! Actually they send that request to every lab in Cubetown at least twice a day.
I guess Phoebe didn't turn into a "pandimensional being of light" either... https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4859
Ah, yes, that opening conversation where Claire kinda-sorta realized what she was getting into, but decided to go for it anyway.
Bingo plus Presto Chango! Weeks! Now - let’s address the photosynthesis.
I'm going to start calling her Moray bu.
...meanwhile, Ursula is relaxing on a beach somewhere...
Ah, yes, Jeph's other named purple character. https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3827 (Grief, Momo is a such a pure innocent cinnamon roll.)
As someone with a cat named Phoebe who excels at getting herself trapped in all sorts of places without us knowing, this is just golden.
Damn it feels good to be a gangster....
It seems to be bigger on the inside.
(that's what she said)
The woom device is much bigger on the inside, part tardis probably
This is an even more ridiculous outcome than I had anticipated and I am very pleased.
A challenger approaches?
I've been to a few drunken college parties where people got stuffed into things, but I think we'd at least remember to take them out the morning after... ... I... think we did... at least, I'm pretty sure? Uh..... hmm...
Well done Liz! Will be interesting to see how she reacts to this.
Is there a Monica and Rachel in there too.
Of course not, that would be silly. They're trapped in separate boxes in the lab next door.
Gremliz felt a lot better UNTIL she realized she had accidentally done a good deed. And she's back in full on GremGob mode. (Liz MUST be a combination gremlin / goblin. It's the ONLY explanation!)
So Liz really needs to be a mad scientist.
I promise that this is directly related to the comic, ok? I have asthma and COPD both. On reading this comic I started laughing so hard that I began to cough and had to take a puff from my emergency inhaler. Thank you, Jeph. I needed this. :)
Albuterol to fix it all. Works for me! Too!
When your hue's incorrect Though the WOOM box got wrecked That's A Moray!
When the gremlin's big wrench Frees a small robot wench, That's a Phoebe!
The One with the Purple Morey
That's one way to solve an escape woom puzzle.
Wrench-ing!
I guess Liz isnt tool-blind! She totally used that hammer the right way.
Pop goes the Phoebe!
Being purple, Moray now feeds on electricity rather than photosynthesis, going to be tough to find it naturally occurring... Who am I kidding, of course they have Van de Graaff generators
CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3198
Now I’m wondering if Jeph has finally seen a full episode of “Friends?”
Scientist guy: "I always wanted someone to go all 'Office Space' in real life!" Liz: "What's 'Office Space'?"
Dear god it makes me feel old that that movie came out in 1999. Liz does strike me as someone who would particularly enjoy that scene of the movie though 🧐
Future generations will applaud Liz's invention of the Whang Device.
Everybody Whang Chung tonight!
Didn't know AI were birthed from a woom.
Since Liz whacked it with a pipe wrench, now it's a woom with a view.
Remember, kids! The difference between "science" and "screwing around" is writing it down!
Your life's enclosed, you're yoked. Your vacay's S.O.L.
*clap clap clap clap*
Oh boy, this feels like one of those things that seems like a quick gag but then Jeph turns into a deep character arc about workplace safety and accountability in Cubetown.
As opposed to the other type of Jeph story, where he builds up a deep, serious plotline that turns out to just be an excuse for a pun about butts.
There are cables attached to Phoebe's head - the woom device must actually be a personal-size Borg cube.
So is Phoebe six of nine?
Aww rip Matthew Perry
Liz definitely knew there was a missing robot in the Woom machine and this isn’t a coincidence at all.
He was going for the…. Shroom…. Machine…. Aw yeah, drugs and puns about the dead. I’m classy.
Peak Gremlin energy
The woom device gave birth?!
It was the WOMB device all along! What a twist!
Well. That’s just a bit awkward for everyone …
Unexpected Newface! Edit: the "Woom"s were just a cry for help
Unexpected Newface is my favorite Yay Newfriend tribute band.
Was Phoebe violet when she 'went on vacation'?
Was she Violet or was she Greta? https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=5552
I guess now Phoebe can finally think outside the box
GDI NO
Oh god not “Friends” (clapclapclapclap)
The Evangelion - Friends crossover you didn't think you wanted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XiQ_IqBMn4
Goblin: ._.
I hope they can still be friends after this.
Everybody clear the Woom
Is this what they say before triplets are born?
