I wonder if Bubs has a heavy bag to destroy in the shop ... She needs it.
I give Faye points for knowing how to interpret 'I am fine'.
I would be upset if I'd had that sort of conversation with Evie and would make my excuses to avoid further dehumanising social interactions.
I think that Bubbles does need a little bit of time to brood and recover (that's the pattern she has shown before) but ARGH, Evie needs to check her attitude towards her respondents.
Go talk to her, Faye! That or Faye will find out about Evie and Bubbles’ discussion at dinner and leave dinner to go talk to her then.
My money is on "Bubbles is angry about Evie". The shop has grown to be a place of comfort to her - after all, they only have AI customers. As we got told before, AIs are not so happy about military-grade AIs, but humans are worse. You don't want to be reduced to that one thing all the time, I understand that.
Bubs could be upset with Melon - a totally unfit guardian for a hyperactive robo-dick. It needs someone strong, dependable, big, and red.
I'd say #3.
My money's also on #3. The comparison to a weapon's gotta be hard for somebody who at one point was worried that she was a walking bomb.
In my mind, there are three possible things Bubbles could be annoyed about: 1) Faye bringing Mandy to the shop. Faye might have got very little work done, and it's another thing that Faye did not tell Bubbles about in advance (not even a phone call) 2) Faye taking money from Melon for no work, as suggested above. 3) Evie's interrogation, as suggested above. My money is on 1, though all three are probable.
