Holiday comics week

Looks like I was a bit late for the poll but I would've voted with the majority on this one. One of the big reasons I use Patreon is because I prefer to block ads on most sites and this gave me a way to support you without having to worry about potentially malicious ads (which seems to happen to all creators at some point simply because of how the ad systems work). That said since I am paying I do want some exclusive content but I'm ok with some of that content being released later to the masses.

I know this is a bit late (I've been stuck in internet limbo for nearly a week) but using your patreon bonus comics as emergency or planned buffer is fine with me, put a little note to say its a patreon thing and there is heaps more for supporters. it seems a little bit of a waste to make this extra content just for us.

Publish them. For me the advance and bonus stuff is like the peanuts on airplanes. I'll eat them and enjoy them, but that's not why I'm there.

I just broke into the biggest smile when I saw the poll results after voting.

Getting the comic a day early and some exclusive content is nice, but I am a patreon because I like the comic, plain and simple. The more people get to enjoy it the better, I say.

Post them with a delay and use them to drive more people to the Patreon! :D

I am like most others. I like getting content early. I also like to vote on the important issues (like whether our bonus comic should ever resurrect Yelling Bird (dunno, but definitely bring back the Shame Orb (<a href="http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1567" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The shame orb fucking rules!</a>)). Beyond that, though, you are totally within your rights to share your creations, and I am cool with that :)

Even for patreons it would be great to have all of the exclusive comics in one place without looking through the archive.

Publish them! I love getting extra comics via Patreon but it always feels wrong for them to live forever outside the normal timeline, as if they are not cannon fakes! Whether they eventually get published online during holidays or via books they need to be out there! They need to be real!

You do other things extra for us patreon backers. I am all for having a week where the Melon special comics are available to everyone. Someone above suggested a time limit they were available to non-backers as a way to encourage people becoming backers later on. This may be a good compromise.

Yes, let Melon's weirdness be spread to all! We get them waaaaaaay before anyone else, and like the vast majority here, the donation is a thank you and general encouragement to continue your art, not to get exclusive content.

Meh, whatever you want to do with your art is all right by me. I love it and love to share it. I don't need anything to be exclusive.

Use the opportunity to promote your Patreon. Remind your fans that they can become Patrons and see more of the content they (and obviously we) love!

The goal just says we get to vote on the topic/character of the bonus comic. and rewards say we get them at least 24 hours early. I'm all for you putting them up or as some have said saving for a book bonus. So another vote for to the people.

I get time off, you should too ... we Patreons should not be paying to keep stuff out of the hands of others, we should be paying to support you - which happens whatever you choose to do with *your* content!

I believe Melon should be shared at Christmas. Maybe not understood.. but shared.

You might want to use them, but announce a time frame for them being available (after that replace them with the link to the post on Patreon). Say if you want to see them after that, you will either need to support you or wait for you to publish the next volume (or both).

I've made my own private collection of the Melon strips because they will almost always cheer me up or elicit laughter due to the utter absurdity of the characters. I'd love to be able to share that feeling with others easily. Honestly, I'm a patron here because I enjoy your work, wanted to help make sure you could continue doing what you like doing and I'm not sure how many more tshirts will fit in my apartment.

If you believe making them public helps get the word out about QC, by all means.

Absolutely use them bonus comics! We got to see them and they've been a delight, but along the lines of what others have said - we're supporting you because we love your work and -want- to support you. Plus we get to see regular comics early, and for me that's more than enough of a perk on its own. Let everyone enjoy Melon!

I donate to people on Patreon because I believe their work is good and improves the world. Sharing that work with the world is the best way to improve it.

You already let us see all these bonus comics before even thinking about putting them out! I think it's only fair that, since we got to see them early, everyone else can see it as well.

I toss money into your bucket not for the bennies I get (which are, indeed, cool to have), but I'd still do the same amount without them. I want everyone to have your strips to read for as long as you want to make them!

Jeph, if you really are building a real backlog, you might consider going 7/7 instead of 5/7. I find it a bit weird not getting a comic Fri & Sat. The early release of Patreon pulls the skip off the weekend. I really like starting my day with QC. Of course, it is more work for you, and you won't get much more, if any, But that would be my wish.

I give you money because I like for people who make stuff that I like to be able to continue to afford to make stuff that I like. Any extra free stuff that I get is just a bonus.

Personally, I'm a patron just because I want to support a comic creator that I've been enjoying for YEARS. Set those comics free!

I pay to support the artist, any other result is just a happy bonus.Sharing our gifts with the rest of the community is one way of spreading christmas(or whatever holiday) cheer!

I pay mostly for having the daily strips show up in my mailbox a day early. Giving yourself a bit of a holiday break is a good idea.

It’s ultimately up to you, Jeph. It’s nice to give away free stuff but if people just wait for the bonus comics at the end of the year then you might lose some money. But as Tom said it might persuade people to be patrons.

The early access I got to them is payback enough for my one whole dollar. Plus, seeing the bonus comics might persuade some to become patrons, which would be a good thing.

I think it is a really nice idea!
