Well, almost all of these options are useful, depending on the game and the context: * Parallel Scenes without MC ✅: Yes, I like it, but not if we have to make decisions based on what we see in these scenes, since our MC isn't supposed to know those things. * Memory/Flashback Scenes ✅: Yes, but technically we're already experiencing this in IHKY (It's all about the MC's past and memories). * Narrator Commentary ❌: No, it's not necessary here since the chapters are well connected, and including a journal is enough to jog the memory. * Inner Monologue (MC) ✅: Yes, it's very useful, and just imagine how these internal thoughts could change based on what we see or the decisions we make. * Inner Monologue (Others) ❌: It's useful, but unnecessary since we're playing with a protagonist and not getting a general view of all the events. * Character Backstories ✅: Yes, it would be very interesting as an extra, but I don't know how it could be implemented without putting more pressure on Dotty or requiring more renders.

Got it! Thank you for the explanation! When it comes to the narrator’s commentary, do you feel it’s annoying or just unnecessary? For example, if the narrator explains how the MC feels about something, or describes something like the environment?

Inner Monologue (Other Characters), after Parallel Scenes. I want to know how what I just chose affected another character, and why. Those two would clear that up and make my choices more specific (if the coding allows anyway) as the story unfolds... if it's written well. Writing is still king, but not making a correct decision many conversations ago shouldn't mean having to start from a save from days or weeks ago.

I think these options are mostly fine as long as they're used sparingly. I voted for MC inner monologue, but I'd prefer if its use was mostly limited to strong emotions, opinions and meaningful content. Please don't make MC have inner monologues like a dumb pervy kid whenever he sees a nice pair of tits, especially if the player hasn't chosen that they're into that character before hand.

These all have a place in good story telling. If its just preference I think knowing the characters thoughts is better.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about it! Do you mean both the protagonist’s and other characters’ thoughts, or just the MC’s?

As far as I'm concerned, I prefer the main character's inner monologue, but more for things that can't be described in the game: scents, textures, etc.

I see, thank you for the comment, it helps!
