Captain's Log #11 - September2023

Greetings Handsome Seekers!

Last development month blessed us with so many things happening all of the sudden, and we finally start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The whole team is working really hard, and even though there are some big waves on our way we don't change the direction! 🙏

🔮 Progress tracker is back!

Due to popular demand, we are bringing back the progress tracker, so that you know now how we are doing! The tracking is now more accurate since most of the tasks are noted down in very big bad spreadsheets, no more impromptu, "yolo"-driven development decisions 🙊

The tracker is quite accurate for the game demo, guess we will get a new one when it's done!

Disclaimer: not all of these need to be on 100% for you amazing Seekers to play. We will ship it earlier on Patreon, we just want to have the core bits done! 🔥

🔧 Technical Update

Another month of development brings us a big set of improvements and some new cool things on top. Let's dive in:

• We've added a book-reading system to serve you some extra lore, 📖

• Introduced quick-time events to some of the dialogues, so watch out!

• A whole new minigame - get oiled up and dirty with Engineering,

• Added sparkly magical VFX to the Tarot mini-game,

• Continuing to pixel-push our dialogue box (you wouldn't believe how much we discuss this) and the conversation camera system,

• Added expressions for Nova, so she can throw proper tantrums now,

• Began integrating content - backgrounds, more UI, animations and some SPICY scenes (extra hot 🧨),

• Reworked the light rendering system for our animation rigs - the Captain sailed out to the Sea of Shaders‍⛵,

• Getting all menu functionalities ready for assets - Romance, Inventory and Skills screens are up and running!

• Developed a cheeky little mechanic for all the voyeur enthusiasts 👀,

• Working on an additional room exploration system - sneak around when nobody's watching 🔎,

• Lots of small fixes, improvements and developments all around: UI flows, dialogue system, transition animations, minigame logic etc.

📝 Writing

We added another big batch of dialogues! In Soulgasm Demo you will have 64 dialogue events to discover, from which only 7 are still on our to do list, and the rest is either finished or waiting for the Team approval! Some of them are waiting in their queue to get into Unity but after this is done, the amazing writer will move on to add more lore and side content for you to enjoy! 👀

🎨Art

We have lots of art in progress and a nice chunk of art finished!

• We've finalized all the demo backgrounds set in the morning light. Now it's time to explore other times of the day 🌞🌛

• The main world map is nearly complete 🌎,

• Intro cinematic art done (that was a biggie but it's for 5 minutes long video!) 🎥

• Nova's steamy sex scene completed and animated,

• Moruga mystical sex scene is in progress! 🃏

• We are progressing now full time with visual novel slides to spice up the dialogues 🎨

• All the animation rigs are getting some extra love to fullfill our Cap'n highest visual expectations 🦸‍♂️

• Last but certainly not least, Mr. Bow has received a charming redesign. We hope you'll appreciate his new appearance 🤵

🧙‍♂️ Team update

Art production is accelerating! The squishiest SHARKIRA has joined our sailing adventure as one of a kind art sidekick to our small but fierce Art Team. Don't let the sharp teeth fool you, she only nibbles on painting brushes 🦈
