Gods are but greater demons, the Cishaurim said, hungers across the surface of eternity, wanting only to taste the clarity of our souls. Can you not see this? (R. Scott Bakker)
Greater Demons is the term used by the Gods to refer to the successors of the Great Demons, demons of significant power and intelligence compared to their lesser counterparts. They are greater servants of the Gods of Chaos, the guardians of their god's realm and the executors of its will. Some of them even come across as deific in their own right.
These Greater Demons are born when Lesser or Great Demons amass enough bloodshed. A demon’s status grows with the blood it manages to spill, so sufficient lives reaped can eventually cause a breakthrough to a new rank.
Such demons command shrieking mobs of lesser demons (including the Black Demons), because it can destroy any lesser demon that dares to refuse its commands, and can even forcibly cast portals to send them to their location. Their ability to release and shape their Dark Aura is also much greater than their lesser counterparts.
Additionally, they have telekinetic powers and can perform pyrotechnics and phototechnics, beguile all those of insufficiently strong willpower, and most importantly, are polymorphic, able to change shape and assume various forms, such as a gaseous form, or dark spheres, or even creeping liquids of negative energy. Their polymorphic abilities also mean that they have no critical regions and so they do not sustain critical damage in combat. As such, even a decent handful of normal Angelic weapons cannot permanently vanquish them, with only the specialised Ten Commandments swords being able to do so.
Inevitably, their might makes them a desired summon for many nefarious mages, and yet due to their nature, there is inevitably a high price to make them achieve corporeality in the material universe. The price is always a sacrifice, either the death or possession of a living being, which will act as a gateway from the Immaterium into the material realm.
Ultimately, however, they are still some of the weaker Races, and like their predecessors, possess no unique attributes. However, their proficiency in semi-unique attributes are surprisingly high.
