Archangels are an evolution to normal Angels, and serve as one of their many starting evolutionary branches. They are, by general definition, the "second-lowest" rank of angel in the Christian Celestial Hierarchy, as defined by Pseudo-Dionysus the Areopagite. Despite this rank, they might be arguably the strongest in the Hierarchy, often seen as direct servants to, and second only to their God, and potentially the Aeons and Archons.

Archangels are often seen as having the highest job and role amongst the forces of Heaven, commanding entire armies of Angels, administrating Heaven's inner machinations, and guarding the Garden of Eden. They are, naturally, positioned to fight mainly Demons and Archdemons, and have done so many times. Undyingly loyal to their God, they will keep fighting for all that is just, though necessary not all that is good.
