Christmas Eve v2.0 Release

Hey Everyone!

Today I'm releasing Christmas Eve 2.0. I've been slowly plugging away at this version over the past few months in my free time. While I didn't change much of the story or the game itself, I did do a lot of work to fine tune things a bit. While the changes aren't mind-blowing, I think they significantly improve the overall game quality. In short, you won't be missing much story-wise if you decide not to download and play it again.

The first and most obvious improvement is to the images. They are now de-noised (for the most part). This may be more obvious to those of you on a desktop or laptop, but I think the change is striking. I also converted the entire image library to .webp so it takes up a lot less space.

The next noticeable change is to the script. I did make a LOT of corrections. I fixed a bunch of grammatical errors as well as all of the switches in perspective from 3rd person to 1st and back again. I also made some small adjustments to the story. I added a few continuity corrections between CE and NYD. I also threw in a few subtle hints and foreshadowing elements to help tie the two stories together even more. I also made some stylistic changes to some parts just to make the wording flow a little more smoothly.

Finally, I reworked the UI a bit and added a gallery. The gallery images should unlock as you play through the game. Oh, and by the way, before you ask:

OLD SAVES WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS VERSION!!!

...and neither will the mods for v1.0, or at least I don't think so.

Overall, I think this is a much more polished version and any story changes will be the canon that I base my further development from. However, I will not take down the original versions. I know a bunch of you have modded that version and enjoy it that way, so I will just add v2.0 to the list of available games.

Things I did not do:

Change relationship statuses (as they are integral to the story).

Redo the “animations” into "real" animations (although I did smooth out what was there a little).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy what I've done. I continue to be surprised by how much people like this story. I mean, I like this story, but I'm more than a little biased.

Let me know what you think in the comments. If I made any mistakes or something isn't working correctly, let me know.

Thanks!

Love y'all

Still broken after the fix you made earlier:

J
Jonesy · April 25, 2025

Apparently this is still throwing up errors. I'm fixing and re-uploading new (hopefully) fixed versions. Sorry!

PC version dumps traceback when I hit start. Seems the "00start.rpy" lacks the label "start" ... could this be a case sensitivity induced error? ("Start" vs "start" for instance)

sorry forgot to mention its PC version

J
Jonesy · April 25, 2025

OK, I refreshed the link. Try re-downloading and restarting.

I'm still getting the error screen after i hit start

J
Jonesy · April 25, 2025

Which version? PC, Mac, or Android?

K
KazK · April 25, 2025

It just says File Link Unavailable when I click the Android link. 😔

J
Jonesy · April 25, 2025

OK. Sorry about that. Try it now.

J
Jonesy · April 25, 2025

OK! All errors are fixed and the links are back up. Let me know if you have any other problems!

Thank you. Unfortunantly I am getting an error when I hit start. I did reinstall it to make sure: I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.
