Incredible film
I hit the pec deck for 175 today
CaveManuary
The keen eye will notice when Catherine lights herself on fire it cures her paralysis as she jump out of the wheelchair
As someone who has seen ~10% of the movies covered and listened to most episodes, the new format is great. You covered everything I needed to enjoy the narrative of the movie. This podcast has three great storytellers, the more you relax and reduce stress, the more fun everyone has, listeners included. Please do whatever it takes to make this podcast a manageable part of your lives and careers. 5 stars
Consider using silent hand signals for beat by beat instead of notes.
“Neander-Fall” for caveman month would be great but tricky with the traditional sportstember, octooky and ninjavember slate of programming
Nexigo pj40 is the best cheap projector but you need a firestick or something
Gabrus, the projector feature you described is known as keystone correction, it’s very common and should be an easy requirement to meet. That said, it really comes down to price - what is your budget? Also, I’d encourage you to purchase a screen too versus only casting on your wall. A wall will work but it’s janky. DM me with more specifics and I can help. Also, I’d suggest checking out @thehookup on YouTube, his reviews are legit and he seems like a good guy (former teacher turned reviewer).
Hot Tub Crime Machine
Monday night they’ll be dressed to kill, down at Deno’s Party House
Handsome Pirate Guy who dies by a slap was 1/2 of a twin duo in the movie RAD, which is where i recognized him from. Had a look in his IMDB and he and his brother have countless B-movie writing credits. And then... they wrote the Conjuring. Good work bros!
"When you gonna find-a nice girl and-a share-a plastic bag of buffalo wings with-a-her??" Traditonal refrain of the Babushkas of Sheepshead Bay
I've grieved the loss of StangerBot and let him go, losing the notes will be nothing in comparison 😤
"Altered states" for cave-uary?
Near the top of my ABZ wishlist
The pirate was played one of the demonic Reynolds Twins from “Rad”
Short throw projector
In a movie full of wild scenes, the asparagus feeding and the fish attack are not going to leave my brain anytime soon!
Loved the old format. I will miss it
This Indigenous People’s Day programming is wild.
I thought Cyber Cherokee was quite tasteful
It was the mom that got replaced on Fresh Prince, not Hillary
I'll take this opportunity to share that the episode of Fresh Prince where Hillary and the family hang out with Hugh Heffner, and Hillary debates posing for playboy was... memorable. So memorable that the answer to whether Hillary poses is saved for the end where Uncle Phil and Will (dressed as monks??) find the issue, open it, and are relieved to find that Hillary is covered up in her photo. "oh, she's covered up by clouds, because she's a weather girl, hallelujah!" - and then they turn ONE PAGE - and they say "But SHE ISNT... Hallelujah!!"... So my kid brain thought the flipped the page to the next photo of Hillary, and it stuck with as one of the more depraved things to ever air on TV.
D
I was also fascinated by Mike's office and noticed in the credits there was line for "Indian Art Created By - John White" which is wild.
John White, is that Apache, or Black Foot?
Thanks for giving me something to look forward to on Monday mornings
What the hell was that tiny pool at the main guys house? Was it a 80s wannabe Zen reflection pool? Such a weird touch in movie chock full of weird choices
At what point does a bathtub become a swimming pool?
Once again this podcast has directed me to a movie that I never would have bothered to watch but was happy to discover. The gloriously garish lighting in a film that was shot in a boring 4.3 old TV ratio. The dreadfully wooden acting that reminded me of The Room. Gym workout sessions that somehow broke out into full dance sequences. Shout out to Ken Foree who was good in Dawn of the Dead and was present here. A reminder of how an actor is ultimately at the mercy of his script and director.
Joe Bob covered this on The Last Drive-In but chances are it’s no longer available given how terribly managed that show is on Shudder.
“Gabrus’s Smokeshow Corner”
Not sure if this exercise show had a presence in America but it is burned into the consciousness of Gen X Canadians https://youtu.be/Lc0itSz3Svg?si=_4J1mUJcLotioDxP
Big Cynthia Dale in Heavenly Bodies energy https://youtu.be/RQYhLpo-DtU?si=IBK_Rn-FyD2n-IsO
Sucker for play by play, even as a guy who watches the movie. Appreciate yall tho. Not like Death Spa deserved the run down of each moment lol.
Hollywood did the work of warning us about AI. But big tech installed Johnny 5 as a PSYOP to convince children that “AI is good actually”. The scene where he’s speed reading through several books for “Input” reads like pure horror now.
A love letter to pec decks.
Your show and you don’t need my two cents - but I liked the format of running through the beats of the plot for movies I have and haven’t seen. It helps me picture the movie and it gives something for your jokes to hang on to. Regardless, I’m here no matter what you do.
Counter-point, free flowing thoughts/ideas are fun and maybe Ben didn't want to play coach with a whistle telling the team to stop horsing around. Counter-counter-point, prior episodes were not light on horsing around.
Is the new format here to stay, or just because of the late night before the record? I’ve never really needed the play by play, so I’m liking it so far. Feels more like a shadow wolves.
You guys should write and direct Death Spa 5, and you play all the characters.
Speaking of phone talk, one of my friends got a flip phone and said it was a net positive on her life in lieu of a smart phone. Anyone here make the switch??
The announcement of the format change almost made me drop my phone into my mop bucket!
life is like a mop
