Yeah it looks like if you've unlocked auto attacks you'll continue to do that and collect coins. You won't get treasure chests and you'll miss any random pets to click on but ...
I just got a big update for Sakura clicker about 150MB but I don't see any patch notes for the update on Steam or this site.
I booted up Sakura Clicker after being off for few hours, and a notification popped up telling me I got some money while I was away. I guess this is pretty neat.

I think you made a great decision on making Sakura Clicker free to play.=D And I seriously cannot wait for Sakura Dungeon.
We just wanted many people to enjoy it !
