What's Shaking, August Edition
Hey all,
It's been a really busy month for us at dddice! I know from the outside things may have seem somewhat tame this month but we had a ton of life events going on; from the ENNIEs, to chats with new VTTs, and just so much that we can't wait to tell you about.
To start, we want to say thank you to all our patrons. It's because of you that we have the means to continue working on dddice and we are forever grateful for your support. Truly, this is a dream project for us and we are so happy to see you using it on your streams and in your games. Thank you!
Let's dive into what we did this August and what you can expect in the near future.
v0..16.x
We are super excited to have released v0.16.x this month which brings about a ton of new features that you have been asking for.
Reroll, explode, and drop die - Simply tap or click on a die to perform these actions. We introduced a new setting as well to change the default behavior.
Drag and sync dice movement - Drag dice across the table and sync its location with all connected players. Super useful for games like Tunnels & Trolls.
X-Small dice setting - Fit more dice on your screen. They're so tiny!
Max dice on table setting - Allow MORE dice!
Save a copy of your dice - Remix your own dice! This should be released in the next few days.
We still have a couple more features we want to introduce in this release, so stay tuned and be sure to join our Discord to hear about new releases first.
v0.17.x
We are already thinking about the next iteration of features and improvements we want to add to dddice. v0.17.x is going to primarily focus on extension onboarding and performance. What does this mean exactly?
Extension Onboarding
For starters, we are very aware of the complications around setting up our Owlbear integration. Truthfully, we know we can do a lot better. In v0.17.x we are looking to introduce a new syncing flow that will make it easier to sign into your account and stay signed in. If you're familiar with TV apps like Fubo, Apple, Max, etc. then this flow should already feel familiar to you. Instead of trying to do a sign in dance across sites, we're simply going to present a code and have you enter that code into dddice to sign in. Plain and simple.
If all goes well with this new flow, we plan to bring this experience to all other integrations to make syncing accounts much easier. No API keys, no sign in dances.
To note, we do not plan to deprecate API keys! External applications and developers are still the bread and butter of what we do. This new flow is only meant to help newcomers to dddice get setup faster and easier.
Performance
We have introduced a lot of new features in previous releases and we want to spend some time cleaning up. As much as we like holding you in suspense for your dice to roll, we are planning to improve the rolling experience and make rolling lots of dice much more performant.
There are also some API calls that we think we can improve to make navigating the site a bit snappier.
All-in-all, expect dddice to continue improving in v0.17.x!
Conclusion
Once again, thank you for being a supporter. We hope you're excited for all the new features released and coming in the near future.
Don't forget to check out all the new themes created this month and as always, happy rolling!

Would LOVE to see integration of dddice with AlchemyRPG and if possible Fantasy Grounds Unity. I think FGU would be more difficult but I think AlchemyRPG should be possible! I've asked them to connect with you as well.
