Norwegian Backroads 152: Reshjemheia (v.0.4.3) BNG 0.4 Ready!
What is Norwegian Backroads?
A map series based of In real life roads in Norway and 152 Reshjemheia is the first map in the series. Road 152 is the official public road number and this road is a blast to drive in real life.
It focuses on a 8x8 km (BIG) area close to Notodden/Bø. The 0.4 expansion brought a third lengthy asphalt road to the map. This particular road is not present in real life, but enables you to drive a uninterrupted loop around the map that will probably take 15-20 minutes on winding and challenging Norwegian backroads - all without seeing the same place twice.
The map also comes with a Snow version with custom snow physics for the main roads and a frozen lake for typical northern frozen lake fun. I put a lot of heart and time into this and the map and it is still a work in progress.
Several areas/buildings etc are still lacking. But the roads are the main attraction on this map and it's all about the feeling of driving the backroads..

This is a hotfix with a new ice track on the frozen lake, as well as some improvement and fixes.

Blurry Textures?
or cartoon looking trees: BeamNG 0.39 introduces DirectX12 gameplay, some setups may struggle because of the 8k terrain materials. Textures may show as blurry or take a long time to cook. Your graphics card might max out on VRAM. Try starting the game in DirectX 11 if you have this issue. I have this issue myself if i try 4k resolution on DirectX 12 (GeForce RTX2080 super).

Please use the Support tools in BeamNG Launcher and Clear cache before commenting with problems. (The frozen lake tire tracks has been removed because im planning a actual course here.) This is a heavy map to run since it is 8k.

Hi there! New member here. Loving the Norwegian Backroads 152: Reshjemheia map! It really stands out. I'm a games environment artist by trade so I know a good environment when I see one :) I'll be doing a YouTube video of this at some point for my channel and wanted to ask: How much of the map is custom made assets/textures and how much is from the in-game editor? Even if it's all in-game assets you've dressed the map really well. Foliage and rock placement isn't something many people have a good grasp of. Thanks for any info, it's just so I don't claim anything inaccurate is all. Thanks for you hard work on this :)

just bought the map again after the map was glitched for me, looks much better in 0.40 now but still found some textures missing in the map again. will there be another fix for that again?

After 0.40 update some textures broke, like roofs and some stones on the side of the road.

I absolutely love this rarely seen masterpiece! I even use autonomous driving to enjoy the scenery from all angles. One issue: when I switch to the 2D map, it's so dark that I can barely see the roads. I just downloaded it yesterday. Please advise how I can fix that.
I have cleared my cache and my textures for the trees and grass is messed up and i deleted it and redownloaded it and its still the same for both maps am i doing something wrong?
I would delete the mods and all versions. check also unpacked folder. Check also for mod called Reshjemheia and not only Norwegian backroads . Clear cache Fresh re download Try that let me know how it goes
I was hoping for more rally car friendly dirt roads but the paved drive is very scenic and I've been enjoying going all over the place in a 4x4, so it's still worth it.

I have cleared my cache, and my textures for the trees and grass is messed up, also another question, do i get future versions of this maps if i only paid for this map( £10) instead of purchasing a subscription(£4) ? (sorry if its a stupid question)

Hello, I just bought the map and I'm having a texture issue. All house windows show "missing texture" and the roadsides show the same text. I already tried clearing the cache, doing a deep cache clean, and reinstalling/downloading the map again, but the problem is still there. I'm using BeamNG.drive 0.38. Do you know how to fix this? Thanks for your help.

Solid asset and texture work. Big fan of the colors and environment in general. Roads could use a LOT of work... The new mountain road is way too wide, lacks camber, and has random textured-on rivers/water that look extremely out of place. In general, for a map that has "backroads" in the name, said backroads are insanely wide and completely lack cresting and road camber, which makes for an unenjoyable serious driving experience. Good for casual/careless driving, but the vanilla maps are already like that. Also, there are tons of trails and smaller roads that seem to be unfinished or just leftovers from map data, which would be nice to either get complete (with proper road camber of course) or removed (ideally not since they look super fun) Skinnier roads with proper cambering is all this map needs to be perfect.
Hi, my frame rate is normally 60, but when I open the map, it drops to single digits. After closing the map, it only stays around 20. I hope to optimize this!
I've really enjoyed this map, it's really good! But I have a small (?) request; can you add some more nice houses with a real driveway and a open garage (something similar to the barn with the jack but smaller)? Preferably along the river or at least out of the town.

Small hotfix released today fixing the missing textures on the small gravel parking lot with the logs.
Hell Yeah! happy about the single, buy map option with future updates still, thanks. A request if you accept or are interested in them: adding some (more?) ovelanding and non-rockcrawler trails would be hugely appreciated. Essentially having an array or trails of veering difficulty. The paved roads feel fantastic and so much fun with how uneven and realistic they are!

Did you clear cache? Try clearing cache using the support tool. Should fix it. :)
