A difficult decision.
Hi, everyone.
After completing the 0.4 update, I’ll be putting further development and support for Mayfly on hold.
As a crowdfunded game, Mayfly needs enough people contributing to keep development sustainable. Right now, the support across tiers is out of balance, and the overall support isn’t enough to sustain future updates. I can’t see a viable path forward for the game, so I’ve made this decision.
Thank you to everyone who has followed and supported Mayfly. Making it has taught me a lot and shown me where I need to improve. I plan to take those lessons into a new AVN. Then again, maybe I’ll spend some time making art for other projects. Who knows?
If you were planning to come back in a few years because my updates were too slow, or for any other reason, at least you now have a clear point to come back to: version 0.4. Maybe that counts as good news.
I’ll aim to finish the 0.4 update in April 2027 and roll it out according to the supporter tiers. That’s all for now. I’ll do my best.

在完成 0.4 版本更新后，我将暂停《Mayfly》的后续开发与支持。
作为一款依靠众筹支持的游戏，《Mayfly》需要足够多的人共同参与，才能维持稳定的开发。但目前的赞助层级结构并不健康，获得的支持也不足以支撑后续更新。我很难看到这款游戏继续走下去的可行路径，因此做出了这个决定。
感谢每一位关注和支持过《Mayfly》的人。这段开发经历让我学到了很多，也让我看到了自己需要改进的地方。接下来，我打算带着这些经验和教训，开发一款新的 AVN。当然，也许我会先去其他项目做一阵美术。谁知道呢？
如果你因为我更新得太慢，或出于其他原因，原本打算过几年再来玩《Mayfly》，那现在至少有了一个明确的节点：0.4 版本。或许，这也算是个好消息吧。
至于0.4更新的日期，我将尝试在2027年四月完成更新并随赞助层级发放。就说到这里吧，我会尽力的。谢谢你们陪伴《Mayfly》走到现在。

This is not great news. Your work is of sufficiently high quality, and the lack of sponsorship may simply be due to insufficient promotion. You might want to reconsider. This is an excellent piece of work.
great now well get more squirrel on squirrel fury crap instead of a decent mc. im losing my mind just to find a vn to follow. everytime i look at new updates i almost cry at the weird crap people are making while decent vns disappear into the nothingness of the abandoned realm.
Everyone needs money to live, I understand that. While I can't do much for you, I'm always grateful for your work and share it to people that I know won't mind to try this kinda games. And coming to this decision probably took you long enough despite all the works you've done without us knowing.. I'm looking forward to your 'last' work? Or 'last' eps of Mayfly before starting a new game? Haha all in all.. thank you for your hard work Dev, you might won't live with only this word of thanks but at least you know that I'm grateful for this.

not to sound mean but 18 months between updates on a 3rd update is probably why you didn't get more support, people like to see progress. now abandoning/putting on hold your game will just make support even worse on future games. Wish you the best of luck though. Have to do what is best for you and i get that.
This. Unless you hit a viral fluke (which isn't a good business plan to aim for) then people support for frequency and consistency.

It's really a shame it ended this way, but honestly, the storytelling felt too choppy, with mountains of empty text between events that leads nowhere. Take Eternum, for example: event A leads to event B, which produces event C. In your game, event A is a heist, then between them there's event B, a banquet — where's event C? It's not there. Event B isn't connected to A. Bam, you get a super AI. Bam, "save the girls." Bam, you're on a train. I replayed the game, and even now I can't remember why the group went to a virtual banquet, who got killed there and why, why the MC got a super AI, or what that super AI in the basement was. The characters' powers aren't fleshed out, the history of the hunters and vigilantes — they're just there. But I do remember the heist. Even so, I genuinely liked the game. Sadly, I can't support you — Patreon doesn't accept payments from our country.
