🌟 IN THE BEGINNING, there was a Body Hair override!

This post exists almost in its original state as a reminder of how far I've come.

From my humble beginnings with CAS Overrides, to the evolution of AnimXGenWear, resurrecting the DISMISS feature on Whims/Wants, and my war against UI Effects.

I've learned a lot this year (2024), in part due to my own relentlessness, but also thanks to the knowledge of others.

So, thank you to my anonymous friend whom I met on Reddit, for everything you've taught me and continue to teach me.

Thank you to the various creators for sharing your knowledge - including those I've criticized and will criticize in the future.

Thank you to every volunteer who gives their time to help other simmers troubleshoot their issues, whether it's in r/Sims4, Sims4Studio, AHQ, or Elsweyr.

And thank you to those we've lost along the way due to death or burnout. You are missed.

⋆⋅ 🌌 WELCOME TO THE BEGINNING - 9/5/2022:

Description:

EAxis' body hair is hideous.

These two mods clear the flags for AllowForRandom and DefaultForBodyType for all variations of body hair for Base Game and High School Years (EP12) respectively. You need both if you have High School Years.

  • sej_BodyHair_BaseGame_NoRandomNoDefault_All.package

  • sej_BodyHair_EP12_NoRandomNoDefault_All.package

From my brief testing, what this means is:

  • Your CAS sims will no longer generate or randomize with body hair but you will have to manually disable hair growth.

  • Townies will no longer generate with body hair but may have hair growth enabled.

  • It will not affect existing sims and townies in ongoing saves.

  • It should not affect pre-made sims who were created with body hair variations, like the Copperdale sims.

  • As a side effect of disabling DefaultForBodyType, I noticed that my test sim with hair growth enabled had the shower option to shave but no body hair was visible. I believe this is because clearing DefaultForBodyType forces the game to assign the original pre-HSY body instead of the bald body hair variation so no hair texture ever applies. More testing is required, but if I'm correct, it means you can potentially ignore disabling hair growth for your sims and still have the shaving options in-game without the hideously horrible and horrifying body hair. Isn't that great?! I think it is!

If you actually want the hideously horrible and horrifying body hair then you just need to select one of the body hair variations available in CAS.

Let's go a little more in-depth to explain why you see some types of body hair more often than others:

There are 19 variations of body hair across four categories - arm, leg, chest and back.

15 of these are flagged AllowForRandom and only 1 of each category are bald variations.

This means that by default, you have a 73% chance of hair appearing somewhere on your sim's body during creation, with an 86% chance of chest hair appearing on your sim. The following is a breakdown of the body hair variations.

4 variations of arm hair:

  • 2 are flagged AllowForRandom.

  • 1 is bald, the other is "light".

  • You have a 50% chance of getting the bald variation.

4 variations of leg hair:

  • 2 are flagged AllowForRandom.

  • 1 is bald, the other is "light".

  • You have a 50% chance of getting the bald variation.

7 variations of chest hair:

  • All are flagged AllowForRandom.

  • 1 is bald.

  • You have a 14% chance of getting the bald variation.

4 variations of back hair:

  • All are flagged AllowForRandom.

  • 1 is bald.

  • You have a 25% chance of getting the bald variation.

That's 86% chance of meat balls, Jim!

These are the separated Base Game and High School Years (EP12) packages.

  • sej_BodyHair_BaseGame_NoRandomNoDefault_All.package

  • sej_BodyHair_EP12_NoRandomNoDefault_All.package

This is an AiO package that merges the separated Base Game and High School Years (EP12) packages for those who have High School Years and prefer an AiO package. DO NOT use install this and the separated mods together.

  • sej_BodyHair_AIO_NoRandomNoDefault.package

This removes the DefaultFor* flag for the bald variation of facial hair only. The bald variation with Hair Growth Enabled is applied if you remove facial hair in CAS. With this installed the game will default to the pre-HSY face instead. This is NOT included in any of the BodyHair mods and must be installed separately. It does not prevent any of the facial hair variants from being generated or randomized but this can be done separately if somesimmer wants it.
