☢️ Flirty Teenagers at Sundown -- Shirley I'm not the only one who has ever found this weird, right?
IS THIS A RANT?
THIS MIGHT TURN INTO A RANT.
YOU'RE WELCOME TO IGNORE THIS.
I DO THIS FOR PERPETUITY.
☆// ⋆ WHA' IS THE DEAL WITH THE...:
... Flirty teenagers who walk around the neighborhood at sundown in this game?
Coding "CAS Filters" is simple, but it's a ton of mundane busywork, so my mind is wandering... and it wandered back to a little pet peeve I've had for a very long time - ever since I gave in and started playing this half-arsed, money-grubby game.
Why are there Flirty teenagers walking the street at sundown?
It doesn't help of course that teenagers are the same height as YA+ or that a lot of them can "pass" as YA+.
I still remember that instance when I first started playing this game, trying to (my Sims [even before Scarlet] have always been YA) flirt with - I can't remember which Sim it was - and wondering why I couldn't, only to then realize that the Sim was a teenager.
Why are the teenagers the same height as young adults?!
I came directly from The Sims 2, so it has always been jarring to me.
Now I know that by default, YA+ and teenagers can't have romantic interactions with each other in this game - I know a fair bit of this code now (I'm totes not making WW Lite [yet]) - but it's still kinda weird, right?
It's... unnecessary, which makes it feel weird.
Why is it a thing?
☆// ⋆ SAY, HAVE THEY FIXED...:
... that oversight where we can force romance with Sims who aren't interested in us by successfully completing a Create-A-Date?
I've brought this up once before, but did you know that it's a thing that you can do?
As long as you can get a Sim to agree to a Create-A-Date, and you successfully complete it, it will force romance with them.
Do it a few times and you're practically in a relationship!
At least that's how it was some months ago when I discovered it.
Shirley this wasn't intended, just like back in the day when you could "Try For Baby" with a Sim who "Hates Children" if they were "Dazed".
That was certainly a bad one, right?
"Game development is hard," yeah, no.
Mistakes and "oversights" like these are understandable, but the coding ain't that hard, bruh.
☆// ⋆ TBC...?:
Back to "CAS Filters"!
We're gonna "CAS Filters" every day (if the internet permits) until I finish this 3-part update:
One update to add the new filtering categories and overhaul the mod.
One update to add the new custom Styles filters.
One update to add a few hundred more creators.
I've neglected this mod for months. I need to do something with it.
When I'm done with "CAS Filters", I need to update "AnimXGenWear". It works, it's just outdated, a.k.a. missing some newer blocks of EAxis code for junk they added.
Also, the shoddy internet has kept me off of Discord for a while. I apologize to anyone who has been trying to reach me and haven't been able to.
Come November, I should have my own internet.
Providing "Kitchen Doody" doesn't close up shop, I'm making enough to afford it without having to rely on anyone.
Come December, I might also "Meows For All" if I'm able to revive my bank account.
Now we've discussed this before - my mods will always be public and free.
You will never have to pay me, or even be a member of this Patreon, to access my mods.
For me to ever "Early Access" anything, it would have to be something I consider game-changing, but also "non-critical".
I also have no intention to "Early Access" new features.
"CAS Filters" and "Fixing CAS" are the perfect examples of this - y'all get whatever I figure out how to do, the moment I figure out how to do it.
I announced "CAS Filters" the moment I figured it out, and I released it two weeks later (if I remember correctly) - which was how long it took me to figure out the "TagValueNumbers" and cobble it all together the first time.
"Fixing CAS" was the same thing.
I need to pester Patreon Support and tell them to give us back the ability to "Publish new posts without notifying".
I also need to type up that "Plead My Case" for my Electronic Arts job application.
I think I'm gonna re-submit a job application every single time they release a game update, the same way I used to ping those Bug Reports on Answers HQ every time an update released that didn't fix the "bug" in question.
I need to wrap up my EP16 CASO and BUGFIX, because I intend I link a bunch of my mods, and that BUGFIX for the EP16 Costume Box highlights the problem ⚡ with half-arsed coding and improper PARTFLAGS and TAGS so well - and how much better the game works when it's configured "properly". <HUFFS>
Even if they just "steal" my homework and patch it into the game, it's still a win for the general Simming community, 'cause, y'know... Console Simmers can't benefit from anything we do on this side of the fence.
At least we can fix some of the !@#$.
Console Simmers just have to live with it.
That's how much Electronic Arts and EAxis cares about their "loyal fanbase".
Ah, there's the rant! 😹
⚡ P.S. My pro-consumer rights comes from the same place that my anti-theism and anti-child abuse and pro-equality comes from - it's an aversion to injustice and a desire to stand up for others. It just hits different when we're talking about "Bruno", innit? 👹

I'm so glad I came across your account. Thank you for encouraging critical thinking when it comes to this game that is so important to me and many others.
You're not wrong. The adult-ification of Teen sims is weird. I don't like that they go from LITERAL CHILDREN to basically just young adults with one birthday. 🙄 It was 0 effort on the devs' part creating and executing the life stage, especially with how much more realistic it was with (*checks notes*) both The Sims 2 & 3. I'm not sure I've noticed the flirty teenagers roaming the streets though. 😂 My sims are up to so much other random shit that they must not be out and about when these teens are? I use a shorter teens mod in order to differentiate them as a life stage. Part of my randomization project (so far dubbed CoraControl) is making teens look and dress, well, more like teens. If this stage is supposed to represent 13-17 year olds, then they shouldn't have the same wardrobe as 18+. It's already kind of ridiculous that YA through Elder all randomize with the same batch of slop, let alone the sims that are actually still children, smh. If I want, say a provocative outfit in the game, it shouldn't be showing up on high-schoolers. It is weird. Part of me wants to indulge in a whole rant about culture but it would be a shout in the void. I'll reiterate what I said about how I'm looking forward to the end of TS4 so the community can once and for all fix it ourselves how we can see fit. Here's a novel thought: What if the buyout actually leads to the development of Sims 5? Is it kind of sick that I'd actually want that to happen just so they'll abandon TS4, I can pull it back out of the trash like the goblin I am, and I'll never once play TS5 or give money to EA again a day in my life? 👀
"It is weird. Part of me wants to indulge in a whole rant about culture but it would be a shout in the void." Oh, I might get to culture with a "Bruno" post if I decide to address that group in Australia who thinks they can solve gender-based violence by censoring games and TV shows. I'm not 100% against what they did, but their blanket Trumpian approach to "BAN EVERYTHING THAT INCLUDES [X]" regardless of context, is downright stoopid. I might get to it with the current "Bruno" post that has folks in a tizzy if I decide to address "toxic masculinity". Everything is connected, after all, and it's all part of the problem. On the bright side, PH🔞 finally has a full-page 18+ warning when visiting the website. Is ridiculous that all the !@#$ that happened recently had to happen for them to do that. We need "true progressives" in power, not status quo centrists, or regressives posing as the moral authority. I doubt we'll ever see it in our lifetimes though. Everyone is too busy playing the game, clutching their ideologies, and trying to fill their pockets, to do the things that we need to do. ─ "I'm not sure I've noticed the flirty teenagers roaming the streets though. 😂 My sims are up to so much other random shit that they must not be out and about when these teens are?" Scarlet generally has nothing going on at that time unless they're "entertaining" guest(s) or collecting frogs, but there's a specific time frame right after sundown when Teens and YA Sims will walk around the neighborhood - before the vampires take over. YA is fine, but the inclusion of Teens is weird - not that they're walking around at that time, but that they're all Flirty. Maybe I notice it more because I live in Oasis Springs and the street is literally right outside my door. ─ "It was 0 effort on the devs' part creating and executing the life stage, especially with how much more realistic it was with (*checks notes*) both The Sims 2 & 3." Is literally just a full batch of animations for a shorter Sim. That's all it would take to officially make Teens shorter and have them work with everything. Is a good chunk of work, but EA is a multi-billion dollar company, and they can pay animators to do it. Just like we could have fully-functioning wheelchairs and walking sticks if EA gave a !@#$. All it takes is a Trait, a Walkstyle, a full batch of animations, and some catdamn coding, just like I did for my "Mobility Assistance Platform". ─ "Part of my randomization project (so far dubbed CoraControl) is making teens look and dress, well, more like teens. If this stage is supposed to represent 13-17 year olds, then they shouldn't have the same wardrobe as 18+." I love the name! Also, I agree! Someone had asked me to do a "Teenager" Style-type filter for "CAS Filters" - this was before recent revelations that I have almost full control over CAS filtering right now - and it's why I was excited to show off the new filter categories; those "Age Appropriate" randomization TAGS are now represented in-game and you can see who is tagged for what without having to crack open S4S and go through every item one by one. I've wanted to fine-tune "Age Appropriate" randomization for a while, is just... not a "primary" goal for CASO. ─ "I'll reiterate what I said about how I'm looking forward to the end of TS4 so the community can once and for all fix it ourselves how we can see fit." The greatest disappointment when they finally announced that they had no intention to do TS5 was that they wouldn't be abandoning TS4. 😹 I was looking forward to an end to these half-arsed updates and DLC releases. ─ This reminds me of WW's comical morality hill when EAxis added in acne and "puberty". Like... you didn't know they were teenagers before? Someone had to spell it out for ya? "SHE LOOKED 18! AND TOTES NOT TRAFFICKED!!!!11111" 😹 I'm sorry 😹, but it was very ridiculous. 😹 Which was then followed up by underwear theft... Yeah bruh, that's a hill and you chose it. 😹
