๐Ÿฆ„ Custom Content CAS Overrides?

Ever since I started doing CAS Overrides I've been toying with this idea.

That's a couple years of toying with this idea.

I, nay, we, can create override packages for custom content the same way we override official game content.

Sims4Studio has "Batch Fixes", but they don't cover certain PartFlags - much to my dismay and frustration - and if used improperly, you can !@#$ your Mods folder into oblivion.

Most creators have disclaimers about re-uploading their stuff, but an override isn't a re-upload. It contains no resources other than the CASPart resources that reference the original custom content, and it will not work without said custom content, the same way my third-party patches don't work without the third-party mods.

I already find myself modifying third-party custom content to fix improper, inconsistent, or unnecessarily restrictive PartFlags. I could just do overrides and share them instead.

This could benefit the community in multiple ways (totes not delusions of grandeur):

  • Exposure for creators you might not know.

  • My knowledge of PartFlags getting around more.

  • Simmers not having to bother with S4S if they don't want to.

And it will benefit me because I like highlighting other creators, but the idea of highlighting CAS content then telling you "sorry, but you'll have to fix these PartFlags yourself" irritates me.

It could also lead to some disdain, ill-will, and uncivil attitudes from both creators and their simmer-fans, which I am no stranger to.
