🧠 Rocket Science + 🎓 DIY - "Resource Overrides" don't flag CAS Items or Sims as "Modded".

Back when I perfected my Wearablesâ„¢ Eyes I noticed something I didn't like.

If you pay close attention to eyes in CAS, there's a white square that keeps going round and round as you turn the sim. I believe it's caused by the Specular Map. It's most egregious on black Occult eyes for Vampires and Aliens, if you'd like to take a look for yourself.

An idea got into my head, but I didn't pursue it at the time.

Can I possibly override that Specular Map with a new Specular Map that uses the same internal identifiers so that it overrides the Specular Map for all eyes that use it, instead of doing individual overrides?

The question arose again after my anonymous friend handed me the solution to Bloatâ„¢.

What happens if I do <THIS>? Then <THIS>? Will it work?

[TWO MINUTES LATER IN CAS]

HOLY !@#$, IT WORKS!

[FIVE MINUTES LATER IN LIVE]

HOLY !@#$, IT !@#$ING WORKS!

I am certain there are other creators who know how to do this.

⋆⋅ A BARE BONES DIY BECAUSE I'M A BUSY BEE TONIGHT:

I haven't verified all the things I think this works for, but I know it works for meshes and I know it won't work for any override that modifies the "CAS Part" resource, because that's where the "Modded" flag comes in.

I assume it will work for texture resources but I'll know for certain when I fix that jumpsuit that same with... whatever the name of that recent Kit was.

If you know mesh editing, create a CAS Override PACKAGE and modify a mesh.

Meshes appear in the S4S Warehouse as "Geometry" resources. If you modified LOD 0, it should correspond to the Geometry resource with the largest filesize. Clicking on the Geometry resource will give you a 3D checkered black and white preview of the mesh so you can verify.

Select every other resource in your PACKAGE, including other Geometry resources (if you didn't modify them) and DELETE all of it except your modified Geometry mesh, then SAVE your PACKAGE.

Voila, you just made a "resource override" that will not flag the item as "Modded" or your sim as "Modded" when wearing it.

Verify your modified mesh in CAS and you're off to the races!

I'll expand this another time.
