๐ [EP17] Life & Death - CAS Override + Fashion Stereotypes Patch ๐ I'll publish any "addons" separately from now on, for mine own sanity.
I now have a working solution for Bloatโข courtesy of my anonymous friend - https://../posts/118803299
"CAS Overrides" overhauls PartFlags on CAS items to do various things including ensuring transframe sims - sims with opposite Physical Frames - have access to their Frame-appropriate CAS items, removing Randomization from all Accessories and Makeup, removing incorrect/inappropriate PartFlags and adding missing PartFlags, unrestricting Full Body, Tops, Bottoms and Shoes for both Physical Frames, etc.
Available as a separate download is a "Fashion Stereotype Patch" for simmers who prefer to maintain feminine and masculine fashion stereotypes in CAS.
Keep in mind that wearing clothing that doesn't match your Physical Frame will result in horrible body deformities due to EAxis' continued refusal to fix the EIGHTEEN (18) Deformer Maps they broke in Update 7/23/2024. My BUGFIX is linked below.

โโ CAS OVERRIDES:
EAxis has finally learned to stop tossing "Restrict Opposite Gender" around all willy-nilly. Oh how I wish that was the only lesson they needed to learn...
Improper "Restrict Opposite Gender" flags removed.
"ROGender" is only needed in specific circumstances and should not be used otherwise.
"Restrict Opposite Frame" flags removed from all Full Body, Top, Bottom and Shoes for TEEN+ in order to unrestrict all clothing for both Physical Frames.
Feminine and Masculine Fashion Choice flags added to all Hairstyles to band-aid the busted Clothing Preference auto-filtering for the Hairstyles category.
Allow For Random disabled on all Accessories, including Hats, Tights and Socks, Makeup, most Bloatedโข clothing, and any stereotypically feminine Full Body, Top, Bottom, Shoes and/or Hairstyles that appear under Masculine Fashion Choice due to my unrestricting of clothing for both Physical Frames.
Color flags added or tweaked.
Display Indexes modified to match Pack ID.
"DIndex" dictates the order of items in CAS categories. It's possible that zeroing these things might have the desired result, but I need to do some troubleshooting. Until then I will continue to match "DIndex" to Pack ID.
Secondary Display Indexes not modified.
"SDIndex" dictates Swatch order. EAxis has gotten lazy with this and "DIndex" recently. Apart from CASTools, we've got nothing to modify "SDIndex" efficiently.
Makeup unrestricted for all ages.
Tattoos unrestricted for all ages.
โโ FASHION STEREOTYPES PATCH:
To unrestrict Full Body, Tops, Bottoms and Shoes for both Physical Frames I remove all Restrict Opposite flags and match the item Frame to the appropriate Fashion Choice flag. This results in things like dresses, blouses and skirts made with the Masculine/Male Frame appearing under the Masculine Fashion Choice filter.
I don't care about fashion stereotypes. I care that you and I know what we're wearing, because EAxis has a habit of flagging items made with the Masculine/Male Frame for Female sims and vice versa, which results in body deformities, which are exasperated (made worse) by the broken Deformer Maps EAxis refuses to fix.
To ensure these items don't randomly appear on sims - this is really only an issue for male sims - I disable Allow For Random on all of them, however, by request, I've gone a step further to provide these Fashion Stereotype Patches that reorganize these "feminine" items back under the Feminine Fashion Choice filter. You will see two of every item affected by this under the Feminine Fashion Choice filter, but it's not terribly difficult to figure out which is which when both are in your face.
Creating these Fashion Stereotype Patches doesn't bother me and you shouldn't feel weird about using them if you want them.
In the future I might tweak these to include fashion stereotypes for hairstyles and for masculine female items.
โโ SADNESS AND DISAPPOINTMENT:
This is a list of things that still need fixing, that I may or may not fix in a timely fashion. PartFlags shenanigans are rarely included in lists.
Some of this - like the damned earrings - requires me to get back into Blender. If it gets fixed, it'll get a โ๏ธ, โ if semi-fixed, or โ if I can't fix it at all. Don't expect any of this on release unless it's PartFlag stuff.
CLOTHING TOP:
yfTop_EP17BlouseCropped is Bloatedโข.

yfTop_EP17ShirtLong is Bloatedโข.
yfTop_EP17SweaterEmbroidered is Bloatedโข but I don't mind this one.
yfTop_EP17VestPeasant is Bloatedโข.
CLOTHING FULL BODY:
yfBody_EP17CoatLong is Bloatedโข.
yfBody_EP17GhostKnitCoat is Bloatedโข.
yfBody_EP17GhostSkellySuit is Bloatedโข.
yfBody_EP17PinstripeSuit is Bloatedโข.
yfBody_EP17ShirtDress is Bloatedโข.
yfBody_EP17SkellySuit is Bloatedโข.
yfBody_EP17SuitVelvet is Bloatedโข.
yxBody_EP17CrowOnesie is ROGender. โ๏ธ
yxBody_EP17Sheet is ROGender. โ๏ธ
ymBody_EP17SpecterSuit is ROGender. โ๏ธ
ymBody_EP17TatteredSuit is ROGender. โ๏ธ
yxBody_EP17GrimUniform allows Nose Piercings but disallows Lip Piercing (there are no EAxis Lip Piercings) and Brow Piercings. โ๏ธ
ACCESSORIES:
yxAcc_EarringsEP17HolowGuages' mesh is too wide, causing it to look horribly misaligned. Making it at least half the current width and realigning it might fix the problem.
yuAcc_RingRightEP17Skull's male thumbnails are missing the band around the finger. How? Also, IIRC, rings aren't usually unisex either.
iuAcc_TightsEP17 has no variants for other age groups. โ
HAIR:
yxHair_EP17TwinBraids' texture needs TLC above the right ear.
yxHair_EP17TwinBraids' mesh for the left braid is "bent".
yxHair_EP17NeatParted's texture needs TLC above the right ear.
cfHair_EP17MessyCropped[X] is unnecessarily ROFrame, locking it to girls. This hairstyle isn't traditionally feminine. โ๏ธ
cmHair_EP17WispyShort is unnecessarily ROFrame, locking it to boys. โ๏ธ
HATS:
ymHat_EP17ToqueDouble - Depending on the size of your ears, they can clip through the sides of this hat.
โโ PROGRESSION MUSING:
Apologies if this is your first time reading through one of my "content reviews" / "progression musings". I'm not paid to be nice.
I noticed another creator changed some of the ExcludePartFlags on a few of the full-body Reaper outfits to allow piercings and such, I'll try to keep it in mind moving forward and incorporate those things on release. I'll highlight the creator when I find them again.
Is it just me or are all of the hairstyles that came with EP17 kinda... meh. I know some folks like bangs, but bangs don't look good on my sim. In fact, none of these hairstyles look good on my sim. ๐น
I think I might do my first CAS Unlock CAS Override with EP17. I really want the hidden ghostly outfits.
I really dislike that the "Little <COLOR> Hood" has bangs attached to it. Why didn't they just- even if a "Hair/Hat chop" couldn't have worked, they could have at least given us some damned options - like one for male and a dozen for female. ๐น
Did you know that once upon a time, not too long ago, boys wore dresses til a certain age, and pink was considered a strong masculine color? One of the reasons that changed was because Hitler started pinning pink triangles on the LGBTQIA+ folks he rounded up. Another reason was commercialism and capitalism. Greed is why we constructed gendered clothing stereotypes for kids and bigotry is why we consider pink a "weak, feminine" color. Feel free to fact-check. I only bring this up because EP17's little kid dresses are similar to the dresses boys and girls are pictured wearing back the day.
The "guage" earrings are ROGender when they should be ROFrame... they also appear to be horribly made. I'll take screenshots. Maybe it's just my sim's ears?
Multiple tops are Bloatedโข. As I've said numerous times, I don't care what it's meant to look like, because it looks horrible on Female and Feminine Frame sims who aren't "hourglass", and I will not change the shape of my sim's body to accommodate bad design. Every Bloatedโข CAS item will have it's AFRandom flags removed. One day I might find a solution for this.
"DON'T USE RESTRICT OPPOSITE GENDER ON TOP, BOTTOM, AND FULL BODY CAS ITEMS" really ain't that hard to fit on a sticky note. EP17 is almost a perfect RO flag run (by EAxis' standards), but they just had to !@#$ up the finale by tossing around ROGender on SIX (6) clothing items.
The reason I trash "fashion stereotypes" in my CAS Overrides has nothing to do with my sims body and has everything to do with EAxis' continued blundering of CAS. They !@#$ this up in three ways:
By !@#$ing up their ROGender PartFlags.
By not creating a female and male variant for every "gendered" top, bottom or full body item.
By tagging items made with the Female Frame for men and tagging items made with the Male Frame for women to make it appear as though they did the second thing, when in fact, they didn't.
Scarlet looks good in anything - except bangs... ๐น - but they look especially dashing in that ghostly skellington getup. I'm only slightly obsessed.
Those last two grapefruits I nommed on were EXTRA BITTER, even with the EXTRA SALT! Yikes! ๐
More Bloatโข on the Female Framed Full Body items that are tagged for Masculine Fashion that I hadn't checked. <HEAVY SIGH>
I'm certain I've compared UV Maps for "identical" female and male Bloatโข... what I maybe didn't consider was the hidden "cummerbund" used for female sims.
Using ROFrame is a nice way to hide the fact that Bloatโข doesn't affect male clothing on female sims as horribly as it affects female clothing on female sims.
Why is "yxHair_EP17CurlShort" - which looks like something Elvis Presley would wear - flagged for the African Archetype? Am I the only one who feels a bit weird that most straight hair is flagged for the African Archetype? Look, I know some people of African descent straighten their hair - I don't have any issues with how folks want to wear their hair - but there are so few hairstyles truly made for the African Archetype that they get drowned out by all the "non-African" hairstyles.
Why does EAxis bother with Color flags if they're just going to half-arse it? The annoying part of this is
The braids for children don't have the same bent bit like the braids for adults.
I should just stop fixing EAxis' !@#$ and make my own !@#$. ๐น
Apparently EAxis doesn't know - or forgot - that having two Swatches with the exact same hex color code will group those Swatches together regardless of their Instance number or their SecondaryDisplayIndex. You should never have more than one Swatch with the same hex color code unless you want them grouped together. Is this why they've stopped including DisplayIndex and SecondaryDisplayIndex? No DisplayIndex means items from the same pack won't group together in order of release. EAxis has been screwing up DisplayIndex for years, which is why CAS is a disordered mess.
Fixing Color flags is annoying. There's no consistency in what's missing or where. Color flags don't match internal names either because texture colors don't match the names... Why?
Unless you spend a lot of time in CAS, you may not have noticed that the Fashion Choice filter for the Hairstyle category defaults to match your gender (sex) instead of your Clothing Preference. No other category functions like this. It's broken and has been for ages. I override all hairstyles to have both Feminine and Masculine Fashion Choice flags because up to now I cannot figure out how to fix this, and having to switch my filter constantly, pisses me off. EAxis already does this, they're just inconsistent with it, like everything else. Hairstyles aren't included in Fashion Stereotypes patches, but fret not, your Male sims will not suddenly start randomizing with "traditionally feminine" hairstyles because I disable ALLOW FOR RANDOM on them the same way I disable AFR on the "traditionally feminine" clothing that I flag for Masculine Fashion Choice.
Resource overrides for fixing textures and The Bloatโข will be released separately.
