๐ง [PENDING] - [SP22] Bust the Dust Animation & Tuning Overrides! โก 9/2/2024 #1 - There's a lot I don't know about Objects but I'll leave that for another time.
โโโโโโ ๐ฆ THIS IS A THING NOW?
Apparently yes! So I'm making a post for it and backdating the progression.
I'm also testing a new layout for these posts.
I'll likely release this along with the EP16 Overrides update. I've been dealing with recurring internet outages the past few days. I've also gotta step out for a few hours so I'll continue this later today.
โโโโโโ โก PROGRESSION & UPDATES:
โ๏ธ 9/2/2024 #1 - BUY-ABLE EVERYTHING!
Dust Bunnies, Dust Fiends and Dust Piles work with Bust the Dust DISABLED in Pack Settings.
If Bust the Dust is enabled and you want to use these objects with it disabled, disable it BEFORE placing them. Disabling Bust the Dust in Pack Settings removes all dust objects automatically.
Since these are overrides, the Dust Piles still have the Throw Away interaction.
โ๏ธ 9/1/2024 #5 - BUY-ABLE DUST BUNNIES!
Override successful. No cloning necessary! Now we override the Dust Fiend and the Dust Pile!
โ๏ธ 9/1/2024 #4 - INTERACTION ANIMATIONS ARE DONE!
No more headline bubbles, no more wafting air on the Check Dust Level interaction.
โก 9/1/2024 #3 - PFFT!
Well, I checked and it looks like they're hidden even from Debug Mode, so I'm gonna override them if I can.
I rarely work with Build/Buy objects. I have no idea what I'm doing. I successfully cloned the Happy At Home objects before I figured out how to unrestrict them and that's the extent of my experience with objects. I'll figure it out. I'm a rocket scientist!
โ๏ธ 9/1/2024 #2 - THE DUST BUNNY IS ALL!
MWAHAHAHAHAHAA! MWAAHAHAHAHAHAA! I now love Bust the Dust Kit and I'll never again play without it. ๐น
I did this: "I can also butcher the Clean buff so it doesn't bust the poor Bunnies."
I'll release this as a separate Tuning Override alongside the main mod so no one has to saddled with features they don't want, though why you wouldn't want some cute Dust Bunnies bouncing around is beyond my understanding.
Say, are Dust Bunnies buy-able with some debug cheat code? Did I just waste my time doing this when I could've just bought myself some Dust Bunnies? ๐น
โก 9/1/2024 #1 - I MISSED SOMETHING!
And I only just noticed it because I insist on making Dust Bunnies immune to the Clean state. The Check Dust interaction has it's own air waft and headline bubble configurations!
โก 8/31/2024 - DUSTY FUNCTIONS Y BUFFS
I think I'll leave messing with this for a later date. All of this is beyond the scope of what this mod is supposed to do on initial release. The goal is no headline bubbles and no air wafting, not modifying the way dust works! ๐น
The buff description for Dusty reads "A light sheen of dust enhances the cosy, lived-in feel of {0.SimFirstName}'s home. It's not too clean or too messy, it's just right. These natural, homey surroundings will help Sims feel comfortable with each other, build relationships, have fun together, and feel socially nourished". Ugh, just ugh!
I could modify Clean to incorporate Dusty's buffs or I could probably remove the dust state from Dusty and just leave the spawned objects. I can also butcher the Clean buff so it doesn't bust the poor Bunnies. If I do the latter, I can let the house get Dusty so a Bunny spawns, then get the place back to the Clean state and keep my Bunny! I just want cute Dust Bunnies, dammit! ๐น
โก 8/30/2024 #2 - JUNK CODE
I just noticed I need to remove some "p=" code from my new Animation Tunings.
The package isn't done yet. I've still gotta import the 8 animations and test that they're working properly without their parent DLCs, and I'm still deciding what to do about the Mood buffs.
โก 8/30/2024 #1 - THESE MOOD BUFFS DON'T SEEM RIGHT
Why are we Happy when the room is Dusty but Fine when the room is Clean? Shouldn't that be the other way around? Are we Fine because of that Fine buff when we're Skilling? Is that the idea? I'm not Happy when it's Dusty though. No one is.
โ๏ธ 8/29/2024 - PROGRESS: ANIMATIONS Y STATE MACHINE
I've gathered my 8 animations (4 standing and 4 sitting). I opted to use a mild "surprise" animation for Dusty because Dusty is not Clean and apart from the Dust Bunnies, Dusty looks nasty. Dirty and Filthy now use different annoyed animations and Clean has a new, more comical "dis place so fresh-fresh and clean" animation. All 8 of these animations are pulled from the game. I'm not an animator (yet) so none of these are custom or "new" new.
The State Machine is also done and I'm in the process of testing each of the 4 standing reaction animations.
โก 8/28/2024 - PROGRESS: ANIMATIONS
I intend to use at least one animation from a DLC other than BG and Bust the Dust. Will it work if you don't have that DLC? Of course! I'm a rocket scientist! I've also decided to keep the negative "annoyed" animation and use it for either Dirty or Filthy, so I just need two (four) more animations.
โโโโโโ ๐ 8/28/2024 - MODDING STARTS HERE!
I don't even like Bust The Dust. I like the Dust Bunnies but I can never get their happiness up and I pretty much dislike everything else about this Kit. I'm trying again to play with this thing but I cannot stand the "waft air" animation or the headline balloon. I've been poking at this for a while - weeks in fact - but I only just decided to get it done.
My goal is to remove both animations and headline bubbles but I've only been able to successfully remove the bubbles. Removing both results in no environment buff and simply butchering the animation coding leads to Last Exceptions, so I've shifted my goalpost.
There are 4 vanilla Dust States - in order they are Clean, Dusty, Dirty, and Filthy - and they share 2 standing animations and 2 identical sitting animations - Clean and Dusty use the positive "waft air" animation and Dirty and Filthy use a negative "annoyed" animation. My new goal is to replace the "waft air" animation and expand the animation pool from 2x2 to 4x4.
To achieve this new goal, I need to create 4 new Animation Tunings, 1 new Animation State Machine, and import the 4x4 standing and sitting animations into the override package. None of this is as difficult as it sounds. Finding 4 animations with sitting variants that match my vision is the hardest part.
I considered just doing a mini animations override mod for the "waft air" animation but there's a possibility that animation is also used for something food related and overriding it would replace it everywhere, also overriding it sill leaves us with 2 animations shared by 4 dust states and I don't want that.
