Bitches, we need to talk.
In light of recent comments of the latest Hunger Games post we feel it necessary to make it known that this is supposed to be a place where we all come together to enjoy our favorite movies and shows. It is not a place for us to disparage each other for political beliefs, religious backgrounds, or any other qualities some people may disagree with. Please don't harass each other or make statements about other's beliefs that are not conducive to a happy and healthy environment for the rest of the patrons.
The only stances we want to take is to say we do not support any war or genocide or hate, nor do we support any groups who claim those things. We also do not feel comfortable sharing political views since we are in a position where people will possibly be swayed by us and we're aware that we dont always have all the information necessary for certain issues. We feel these issues are important to talk about and we want you to feel you are able to discuss your beliefs, but this is not the place to harass each other. It is our wish for no one here to create heated arguments about politics when this is not the place to do it.
This is a reminder that this is a peaceful place where many of you come to get away from problems in your lives like depression, loneliness, or the struggles you see in the real world. We've had some of you come to us expressing how thankful you are that this a safe space that brings you happiness. It's important to us that you all can come to our Patreon page to have a stress-free community in an otherwise crazy world. We don't want to censor anyone, but we don't want this to turn into a place where political arguments and decisiveness becomes commonplace.

I think that if they are open about not wanting their channel to have political comments or views then you should respect that no matter what they post. Even if they watch a movie entirely about politics people shouldn’t argue or disparage other’s beliefs on things. Like it’s cool if you wanna think something differently while reading comments or watching the video but no need to argue or hate on whatever the people are saying. Let them watch what they wanna watch because most movies have even just the slightest political views in them and if they had to do research to figure out if a movie they’re gonna watch has a debatable one in it then it’d take way longer and it’d be much more harder work that they probably don’t wanna deal with.
People do not have to share there political views, and aren’t obligated too, you guys are soo worried about other people, go do something else with your time then bothering Nick and Cory while they are literally just WATCHING MOVIES😂 stop ruining it for other people, cause I came here to watch content not have it ruined by politicians😂

I really enjoy this content. It’s kind of embarrassing but these videos have gotten me through some rough times in my life. I get that you never want to divide an audience but I really have to be honest. It’s not the time to stay neutral, this is an incredibly scary time to be alive and it would be nice to know the people you support also support where you stand in the world. Of course people can have different opinions but certain political and world stances are not for me and I will always stand on that no matter who or what it comes to. Not because I “don’t like them” necessarily more because I know we have complete opposite views of the world and have completely different moral standards. I genuinely believe that’s where people are coming from. I absolutely adore what you guys do and appreciate you so much but I just can’t agree with this take.

Why are people in the comments acting as if they’re entitled to ANYTHING personal regarding Nick and Cory?? They react, they make jokes, they provide a drama-free escape for SO many of us. Just because they react to media that has political undertones (or overtones in some cases) does not mean they HAVE to express or discuss real-world politics. Even in the cases where it’s an very obvious politically inclined movie, they don’t owe us a in-depth and serious discussion about the real-world issues that the movie relates to nor their own views on said issues. Them saying they don’t want to outwardly state their own political views is NOT weird or ”a sign of ignorance and privilege”. In what world do you people live where wanting to have a non-personal fun space on the internet is weird? How is that being privileged? I myself is a person who has a lot of political views that I am very passionate about, but do I always express that? No. Do I feel that EVERY space and place is in need of politics? No. Do I think some places should and need to be just fun and act as an escape-place from the real world? YES!!!! And this channel is one of those places! There are SO many people to follow online if you want politics, can we just leave theses spaces be what they were meant to be: fun and carefree and a chance for people to escape the horrors of the real world? And to the people being like ”I didn’t see any bad comments, I don’t see what the issue is”, has it occurred to you that they might’ve deleted disrespectful or hateful comments? And even so some of the comments I saw, while not inherently aggressive or hateful, were definitely critical in a very passive-aggressive and ”holier-than-thou” kind of way. Why are you blocking users? One of my friends on here can't get on your patreon. They never said anything different to any of these other comments so I'm confused? Surely you contact someone first to say that you will remove them if something wrong is being said, especially when that person has learning disabilities and may not see where they went wrong? It seems like censorship to me and it's really sad.
It may not have been them. Some keywords autoblock people. Any user could also have reported comments to Patreon for crossing a line. Regardless, if comments upset many people or cause problems for creators, it's not reasonable to expect them to mediate every situation, in case someone has disabilities. Creators have thousands of subscribers having tens of thousands of discussions across all their content. These guys have shows and convos going back years. If you are this person's friend, maybe it's your responsibility to talk about the terms of service agreements put out by creators and platforms and ask what they have been posting and explain why it's not ok and will get them blocked on many platforms

If you are saying you want a "light" environment, wishing to sustain feelings of comfort, belonging, wellness, escape, relief, safety or inclusion, then I'd expect the above expectations to apply consistently in all instances? "Promoting a positive environment" while allowing "healthy conversation" and discouraging censoring, harassment, labeling, insults or attacks, should also include discouraging silencing, tone policing, bullying, dog piling, demonizing, dehumanizing and ostracizing, no? It is, people don’t want politics to be involved but we are living at a time people are being killed everyday but yeah bringing politics into a movie about politics is ruining the “happy safe place for people” 😂. I frankly think anyone that thinks this way are extremely privileged people, who ignore what’s happening around in the world because it doesn’t personally affect them. I think anyone asking for a creator’s political stance is not wrong why on earth would I want to be spending money on people who maybe zios and maga( not saying nick and Cory are) but it’s not wrong for people to wonder why.
i think its completely reasonable to want to foster a space free of political discussion, however, i think you need to be careful about what you react to in order to ensure that. a lot of the shows/movies you react to (the hunger games, the boys, lgbtq+ media, etc.) are inherently political and are going to start political discussion. the hunger games was literally written as a warning about corrupt politicians and propaganda. you simply cannot react to media like that and expect people to not discuss the meanings and backstories. love you guys, but this is kind of ridiculous.
Of course I could be wrong but I don't think they meant single general short comments drawing real life comparisons. I think they meant statements that gets personal either towards them or other viewers. Discuss the meanings and backstories is different than for example "demanding" that they should comment on real life situations in their reactions imo. And if they don't do that assume things about their opinions. As others have said they are not a political / news channel.

I don't normally comment on things but I am someone can get very political but I will never be the person who harasses and bully's someone opposite of me. I have absolutely zero problems with anyones religion beliefs (I'm even very religious myself) or lack of religion beliefs, sexuality or otherwise. Yes I can have my own beliefs but I will never ever push them on anyone.
I saw a post like this coming. And I agree with it, it is important to discuss these things but there is a place for it for example forums with threads to political topics. And I feel especially the last paragraph. I struggle with depression for years, I was already on the road to getting better when I accidently found their channel months ago and they relatively fast became my comfort channel. And I must admit a few comments where not only Nick and Cory but also people who enjoyed the reaction were "judged" with a black or white mindset got to me.

Hope you guys are okay. It's EXTREMELY okay not to want to share your political beliefs. You guys have always created a safe space for us and we truly thank you. For someone who is also (amongst the Patreon members) very political and vocal about her beliefs, not only was this well written but also well timed. People need to remember there’s a time and place for everything and one needs to read the room and see the context before commenting things or expressing. I’m not gonna say much because Nick and Cory already have a lot on their plates but I hope you guys and safe and okay and hopefully Cory is feeling better and recovers soon 🫂
as someone who is quite political…we don’t need to get political on a reaction channel guys 😭 they’re literally watching big time rush, they don’t need to comment on the economic state of the world rn, nor am i here for those types of takes. i also just feel like…if you’ve paid attention to any of their reactions, you’d know they don’t support 99% of the things you guys have been “accusing” them of supporting from the hunger games videos. i understand the hunger games is inherently political, but they’ve already been engaging with the content in a nuanced way to begin with, i just feel like people get extremely defensive whenever nick or cory don’t react the exact way you’re expecting them to and it’s like…they’re humans just like everyone else, we all have different opinions/reactions to things and it shouldn’t be necessarily determinative of something much bigger than that.

I applaud your desire to create a welcoming, judgment free space where we can simply enjoy movies and have fun. I for instance didn't notice the comments on Hunger Games. However, we're living in a time when politics, morals, and ethics have become increasingly intertwined, and political views can raise questions about shared values. Personally, I'd be saddened to learn I was giving $10 a month to creators whose values, particularly regarding Trump, conflicted with my own. We're also in an era where people pay attention to how creators use their platforms. With a large following comes an opportunity to speak out against injustice and use that influence for good. I respect wanting to keep things lighthearted, but I also think it's important to recognize why these things matter to your audience. But I know we all appreciate this space and you two for all the work you put into it!

This is very well written and I’d say the writing is half Nick and half Cory. I just try to be positive and keep religious/political stuff in the real world where it belongs. I usually just watch their reactions to laugh and relax, hate all the negativity some people have. Almost afraid to say what my religious/political beliefs are because I feel like I’d get major hate, and I’m not even American. But since I’m sure someone will read my comment and ask I’m catholic and conservative (great grandpa on my mom’s side was Polish and Jewish).
While I'm often pro talking about politics I do love that this is a place where it's not as strongly done. I'm very political. I'm always scared about the political climate and fear losing my rights. This is an escapism place for me. Where cis white dudes finally give Barbie and other "chick flicks" credits, watch shows like Heated Rivalry and movies can be commented without an indepth analysis. This is a place where I can breath when the world feels like it's too much. So please everyone respect their wishes, they know what they're doing :)

Hiii sooooo I am the one that left the comment about the IDF hat thing and I just wanted to say thank you for at least partly addressing it because honestly if it wasn't I would've completely stopped watching your videos...I am slightly apologetic about how I raised the issue but there wasn't really any other way since there's no chat or anything I'm aware of. I will say whilst I understand you each want privacy regarding your personal opinions and beliefs, especially since you have a platform, I also think you do have a certain duty as creators to be upfront about certain things/issues especially when they connect to the content you're reacting to AND especially when those things/issues are very much real problems in the real world and for all you know there are people in this community who are affected by them. To those people by omitting information/opinions or neglecting to have nuanced conversations about them it can and will lead people to assume certain things and/or jump to conclusions. People may or may not agree with me but it is your own responsibility (and yours alone) to ensure that that doesn't happen by being upfront about things...so for example, of course I am going to believe somebody is a Zionist or is at least an admirer of Israel if they have pics on their insta from birthright or selfie's in IDF merch from several years ago and has never been deleted, especially in a political climate where there is an international arrest warrant for the PM and also insaaaane for people like me who are so involved in politics and genocide in the modern world by writing genocide case studies for university and you're literally finding sources from a week ago. I think you guys need to understand that whilst these issues are very real, you and I have the luxury of forgetting about it, not wanting to talk about and can essentially just turn it off and go back to blissful ignorance. Well said. I don't know what comments they are referring to and of course things could have been taken too far, but Hunger Games is an extremely political book/film series, so it shouldn't be surprising at all that people would make political comments under the post. While I get their point and personally wouldn't bring politics into here, at the same time asking people to stay quiet about genocide, so this space stays comfy for everyone, screams Capitol vibes. (And isn't the US but the Capitol of the world anyway?)
There are a couple of people here who are really poisoning the pot, and it's a shame. A while back, someone posted in the comments that they believe being trans is a "mental illness", and I replied by saying they are not a mental health professional and should do some research instead of making false claims based on their bigoted upbringing. I told them that there is so much violence against trans people that hiding behind "oh it's just my personal opinion, tee hee!" was hugely irresponsible. I also reported the post. (I never saw any other replies to it or comments about it.) If someone makes a post like that again, I'll do the same. If a person makes multiple comments that are hateful or bigoted, and that person is NOT deleted/blocked by N&C, then I'll leave the channel. That's a kind of toxic "we accept all opinions" that I don't want to be part of. But.... What I did NOT do is write a 500 word missive demanding the Nick and Cory loudly condemn transphobia, and then imply that if they do not respond to me---and to EVERY other accusation anyone ever makes---then that is the equivalent of being a violent bigot. That's an absurd level of narcissism, to think everyone must kneel before them and issue statements on demand.

Hi, I'm new (and don't have the budget to continue longer than this one-time contribution so far) and I haven't seen the reactions because I don't need dystopian media in my life with the state of the world right now but I'm really sorry on behalf of the community, you don't deserve this as creators. You don't owe anyone your personal information or political opinions and it's your place to set boundaries for behavior in this shared space. I'm queer and neurodivergent and I've always felt safe and supported and that you were clear about what treatment of any group of people you don't condone. Asking people to not go into political discussions in your space is completely understandable and anyone can move that into private messages. I really hope this situation and reactions don't make you feel restricted or judged in your work, nobody is being forced to be here and supporting you financially doesn't mean being entitled to anything more than you promise and I think you even have the right to ask someone to leave your space when it really crosses a line for you. Was out and about when I got this notification and oooohh boy, I knew that title. Thankfully, I have no interest in THG nor do I care about politics, but I do appreciate yins trying to remain as neutral as possible. In fact, when an influencer, streamer, whatever you wanna call 'em gets too political, I generally unsub/unfollow. It's nothing against them as I have no problem with someone having their own opinions... but that's not why I subbed/followed in the first place. Thanks for posting this. Whatever happened, I’m sorry it did and I’m glad I missed it. I hold an elected position in county politics & do a lot of social justice work. That said, I’m required to “get along” with people who don’t hold my same views all the time. The point of me saying that, is that yes, I may hold vastly different views, than the people I came into contact with regularly but I always have the hope that empathy & understanding will help shut down hate, not more hate. but also, like someone said, this is not the forum for politics, religion personal insults or judging. (Some old fashioned ribbing is fun though!!) I wouldn’t stay here if it was that kind of space. I’m pretty sure any regular in here knows that my posts can get pretty wild sometimes, but it absolutely stems from a place of someone who lives an incredibly busy and stressful life at the moment, looking to come to a safe space and just let loose a little creatively a little occasionally bc I get to do that in a way I want so rarely & my inner circle has had to become incredibly small, hence the rants. I also love discussing on a deep level, film media, even if it’s just me thinking & writing it out in a long post bc that also helps me creatively in projects I’m involved in. That said, thanks to N & C for what they do & for putting up with our shenanigans in a fair & respectful way. The way the issue, no matter the specifics, was addressed, was handled almost as beautifully as C’s biceps. 😂 xo

Some people just cannot be normal. I definitely consider myself a politically engaged person but I understand most people are not. If I want to discuss politics, there are spaces to do that. What I cannot stand are people who enter non political spaces and intentionally try to take over the space for their cause.
I've always hated the topic of politics because it started fights and arguments in my house often. It got to the point where when I heard anything about politics I'd just kinda shut down. I really appreciate certain creators (like you guys) who make these safe spaces 🫶 There is so much negativity in the world and yes how you view things is an important thing to discuss but there is a time and a place. Unfortunately a lot of people these days have a hard time realizing when and where it is appropriate.

While I know the hunger games is a hugely political and moral movie and I understand how it can incite these kinds of conversations and sure people have the right to know if the people they support have beliefs that are evil but I think the issue were the accusations to your guys morality and characters with no proof, and while none of us know you guys personally I can speak for myself and say that from your videos and the ideas you present when watching films let me know you are good people with good hearts who I very much respect or else I wouldn't be here giving my money every month. I hope this doesn't discourage you guys from speaking your mind on the complex topics you often encounter watching these films with us. I hope people in the comments always stand up for what's right and defend their beliefs from the others in comments that spread hate but they are right this isn't the place for think piece about their personal lives and beliefs especially when these guys have always shown their empathy and kindness in every reaction they film. while i understand this take, i think that if y'all are determined to "not get political", it would probably be best if y'all let the requests for dystopian media (like the hunger games) take a backseat for the time being. i love those movies down, but dystopia is an inherently political genre, and you just can't have a decent-quality interpretation of those kinds of films without being willing and able to connect what is shown on screen to what it represents in real life. the hunger games are more relevant now than ever, and while i accept that y'all want to keep things lighthearted... it's better to not focus on that media at all rather than willfully misinterpret it or ignore its implications. that's my take on it as a political science student.
this is the take! art is inherently political. some pieces (like hunger games, handmaids tale...) are political commentaries and they cannot expect people not discussing the themes and real life comparisons in the comments. engaging with political art is so important and if they dont want to be political at all then they shouldn't cover these movies and stick to teen dramas.

I know this seems like an announcement encouraging positivity, but you guys saying you don't share political views because of possibly swaying people's opinions or not having enough information just sounds like ignorance and privilege. I know this community doesn't revolve around politics, but sometimes it's good to know if someone's willing to draw a line when it involves humanity and using their platform to spread such awareness.
