Hi everyone! Happy New Year!
2024 marked the start of migrating the RPGMV project to Unreal Engine 5. Programming got off to a blazing start, only to hit a wall a few months later—turns out my 3D modeling and animation skills are pretty limited.
After weeks and months of frustration trying to combine multiple elements in my 3D models, I stumbled upon Magic Bones Tools, which has made my life so much easier. Finally, 2025 looks like the year I’ll sort out exporting my characters with fully functional anatomy into UE5 once and for all.
At the start of the year, I invested in several paid tools to help with this part of the game, which I’m not exactly an expert in. On top of that, the future looks especially exciting thanks to AI tools that assist with importing animations and models directly from images and videos.
When it comes to programming the game’s features, I’ve got a solid handle on the UE5 editor. Once my models are fully transferred to Unreal Engine 5 with all their elements (textures, animation nodes, etc.), progress should speed up significantly. This means incremental development builds for Pledgers will be released more regularly.
So, I’m super excited for what 2025 has in store for The Island!
