Sneak Peek # 8 - Raider's Dungeon of the Raidening [DRH Alpha 0.2]
Hello there, Keepers and Raiders!
Dungeon: Raid Her - Alpha 0.2 is coming soon and I'm happy to announce it's a whole new (and improved) game right now!
I've been obsessed with making DRH a more coherent experience over the past months, and here's a sneek-peak about what you can look forward to!
Skills & Combat Overhaul
Combat is now a lot more satisfying and less frustrating!
Introducing: Skills!
Different types of skills can be acquired and combined through currently equipped items, completely changing the flow of combat!
Hit detection has been improved, different weapon movesets and combos have been added, enemy attacks are more readable and parries are actually useful now!
A delayed input-queue system has been added!
Dashes have been replaced by Rolls!
A lock-on system has been added!
Friendly-fire has been removed, and allies will now have your back!
Attack Speed is now a modifiable stat!
Ranged weapons like Bows and Staves are being worked on, and will be added for this release.
Affixes
Weapons, clothing and even Dungeon Raids as a whole now have Affixes!
These are basically stat modifiers tied to items like pieces of clothing and weapons. You can now further experiment with different character builds and combinations!
The rarer the item, the more modifiers it will have. Unlike Perks, items are permanent and can be looted and brought with you into future runs!
There's also a new window for handling character inventory and stats!
Reworked Game Loop
The previous concept of a "Dungeon Raid" was a collection of procedurally generated "mini-dungeons", each with their distinct themes, connected through Doors. This had a lot of problems, as it was just not fun to run around through empty hallways without guaranteed enemies and loot.
Now, a Dungeon Raid (a run) has all rooms centered around a single theme you choose at the beginning. This will decide things like character races, outfits, props, dungeon style, etc...
All rooms in the run are comprised of a small procedural section of a Dungeon, with a guaranteed event and reward you can choose before entering.
You can think of it as a game flow similar to how most roguelite games go (like maybe Hades or Slay the Spire). You get to choose your path considering it's rewards and challenges!
Room events can go from regular battles to elite fights, bosses, shops, rescue missions, wave survivals and more!
Camp NPC Questlines
The questline system is at an early stage but already being worked on. It'll make a debut in DRH Alpha 0.2 and I'll go into more detail about it soon!
New Hairstyles and Clothing!
There are quite a few hairstyles and clothing items being worked on for DRH 0.2. They will be showcased soon! It's been a step-up in asset quality so hopefully you'll enjoy them!
Stay tuned for the next Sneak-Peeks, where I go into more detail about some more of the new features I'm working on!
Dungeon: Raid Her Alpha 0.2 is (hopefully) coming in about two weeks!
See you next time!
