honestly was hard to decide i think something in between the two would be perfect

I think the No2 picture is too bright, the facial details of the characters are covered up, and there is no three-dimensional sense.
№1 lighting might look more realistic. However, it also make the tone and mood of this scene look darker. I suggest to use this lighting for the serious scene. For №2 lighting is brighter than the 1st one which also created the lighter mood for this scene.
I always like brighter scenes, so #2 for me. But objectively, it depends when this is happening. I'd say #1 is daytime, light from open door or far window, while #2 is strong electric light (evening?).
No1 look more real, but prefer No2 , since we see more detail of the girl.. Maybe you could do Background No1 + girl No2 ( best of 2 world)
No1 feels a bit more real to me
I gotta go with the more saturated no2, I just like it more. ^^
