Dropbox... WTF...
Hey everyone,
I just got a DMCA Takedown Request from an Impersonator of Me (!) that the Patreon build I share on Dropbox is a Copyright infringement.
You can't make this shit up, really.
So in case you are wondering: Dropbox disabled all shared files until that is sorted out. I already filed a counter-complaint, but who knows how long that will take. And they really don't give a shit. I explained to them, "Hey, of course I did not file a DMCA Takedown request AGAINST MYSELF!"
They don麓t care! If it wasn't that stupid, it would actually be funny 馃構
Anyway, I will move to another solution. We still have Filen (and yes, downloading individual Files should work just fine for everyone). The good thing about Filen is also that I have direct contact to the owner. So a stupid DMCA Takedown request there will just be ignored 馃槑
But in the long run I will probably host things like that on my own Server. I will do some research about options (within the EU).

These companies really sit back on the fact there aren't many alternatives. They just give out a shit service and call it a day. Maybe Filen should be the move going forward?

Hey Puppetmaster, I admire your work and although I rarely get involved or get into discussions like this, I find it pretty messed up that you had to experience this ridiculous issue with your own creative works. Unfortunately, you have exactly the same problems with those Services. If someone files a DMCA takedown request, you are screwed. There is no difference to Dropbox. Just a different name.
