NextGen Performance, First Batch Frotting Clips, Movie-Viewer Update,

Hey everyone,

we hope you had a wonderful week! 馃槉

Today鈥檚 update is an extra exciting one for us! 馃コ

We just unlocked the first successful test for our "Next-Gen-Performance" milestone. Our lead coder shared the first screenshots of a jungle stress test, and the results are mind-blowing: five of these high-detail Fig trees have roughly the same triangle count as all the coconut trees in the current main level combined. While being way more memory efficient. That new technology really kicks ass and brings us another step closer to Steamdeck compatibility.

We know that "more triangles" doesn't always mean "better," but here鈥檚 the kicker: the performance has actually improved dramatically. We鈥檙e seeing a constant 60 FPS on an Nvidia RTX 2070.

While this is a test level and we still have to factor in other systems that drain CPU/GPU power, the foliage and environmental rendering are now essentially "solved" problems. This is a major breakthrough that brings us significantly closer to Steam Deck compatibility.

I鈥檓 so thrilled I could laugh and cry at the same time. Two years ago, this would have felt like science fiction. Now, the technology is here, and our team is actually making it happen! 馃挭馃槑

Frotting Clips:

This has been our biggest challenge to date, resulting in a massive library of 42 clips! Here is how we鈥檙e rolling them out:

  • Batch 1: All variations featuring Brittany (Available now!)

  • Batch 2: All variations featuring Trinity (Releasing next week)

  • Batch 3: Brittany & Trinity with each of the three guys: Basil, Richard, and Joe (Releasing the following week)

To give you an idea of the sheer scope: the raw renders total 488GB and consist of 176,412 individual images. Altogether, we鈥檝e produced 98 minutes of footage鈥攖hat鈥檚 equivalent to 5 full episodes! I am incredibly proud of what we achieved here. 馃珷

Once the Unreal Engine renders are finished, I鈥檒l be syncing the audio and exporting the final movies. Compared to the heavy lifting in Unreal, that part is peanuts!

Movie Viewer Update:

So, we decided we want to release Episodes and Shortclips (of course with a Delay from Patreon and A3D) on Steam as well.

We do have the MovieViewer Project on Steam, but it麓s outdated and we started from scratch. Developing core technologies and workflows for Treasure Island, we could make brand-new Version of Movieviewer a Week. It麓s a very simple Project, yes, but still an incredible Achievement. Because we have Brittany run around, a proper UI, support for Touch-Screen and Controllers, etc. etc. And since we had a modular approach on those Features in Treasure Island, it was very easy to strip it down to the bare minimum and make a new MovieViewer.

So the Idea is that we have the current MovieViewer "as is" with EP1-4, and release all the new Episodes as DLCs.

That麓s not so relevant for you guys, since you have the Episodes, but for People on Steam that is (hopefully) a big deal and they can then fully enjoy all Episodes as well.

Alright, that麓s it for this week's update!

We hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead! Enjoy the Frotting Shortclips with Brittany 馃槒馃グ

All the very best,
PM & Team

I hope we get Alexandra to return in a future SA episode. She's probably the best side character.
