Game Version 0.0.1 (D) Bug list
Hello all! I thought I’d just keep a running tally of all the current bugs in the game, as well as how I intend to fix them. Of course, if you’re ever not happy if my intended solutions (or have a better idea) comment away! Also feel free to comment anywhere about any bugs you encounter, and I’ll add them to the sheet.
I’ll be updating this post as I fix things under the good of the game alongside my weekly updates, just so you know exactly what’s going on where!
--BugList--
· Team members stay dead and can’t be revived – discovered by Potato
--Solution: Remove “KO’ed” state from downed characters.
--Status: FIXED
--Dev note: So this was intentional… kind of. You see, the way it was supposed to work in game was that you were never going to get a knocked out character in the party; if you won a fight, ALL downed characters would be healed to 1 hit point.
But, I sort of forgot to tell the game to remove the downed state from the characters when you win a fight. So your downed characters are being healed, but because I forgot to turn off the downed state, the game disregards the healing effect. Easy fix.
· No resurrection items - discovered by Potato
--Solution: Update dialogue to inform players better of healing.
--Status: FIXED
--Dev note: This wasn’t really a bug, but actually a cause based on the above. So why can’t you just buy a revive for the fallen? Well, I always intended to follow the ideas of the comic and have the player need to sleep in order to heal their Reserve Energy (Health), as any RE healing items you can get are cheap and basically heal nothing. The thing is, aside from a vague description from Marcus (dad) in the tutorial, I’ve come to realise that no one in the game actually TELLS you how to heal. Whoops.
So anyway, I’m going to add some dialogue at the beginning of the game (when you first enter Kyrsten’s room during “The Tour” quest) and a “reminder” after you recruit Rio, telling the players that the only way to properly heal is to sleep.
· Only Beej scene playing after Runt encounter at high arousal - discovered by Potato
--Solution: Replace the randomness of a scene with a scene selector for the player to use.
--Status: FIXED
--Dev note: The grab scenes are designed so that they are randomised, with the end result ideally being something like 6 scenes for the game to choose to play. Since there is only 2 right now, the fact that the game is only showing this 1 scene over and over may not be a bug, but just a run of bad dice rolls. HOWEVER, poor Potato had to sit through the same scene 5 times in a row, and that just isn’t fun – something I want this game to be above all else.
SO, what I’m going to do is allow the player to choose what scene they want to see when Kyrsten gets grabbed (at high arousal), getting rid of the random element completely. Slightly goes against the whole “grabbed and skadoodled” idea, but I can change the writing slightly to better reflect this.
· Scene too long - discovered by Potato
--Solution: Add a SKIP feature.
--Status: FIXED
--Dev note: Another excellent suggestion by Potato, all of the high arousal grabs will be getting a skip feature. Sometimes I get carried away with the length of the writing because this is the best job in the world, but sitting through it all again and again disrupts combat flow and let’s face it, gets boring after a while. So all high level scenes will get an option that will skip to the end of each scene, effectively bringing enemies (and Kyrsten) to an instant climax. I may also change the writing in these “quickies” to reflect this.
Also, these will only be for the longer High Arousal scenes, as the rest are pretty quick anyway.
· Rewards system Bugging out
--Solution: Changed order in which rewards are received.
--Status: FIXED
--Dev note: After fights with the newer enemies, the rewards would sometimes bug out and hand over ALL the rewards instead of just one of ten. Now the rewards are given BEFORE returning to the map, which helps stop this error due to any background MAP events interrupting the rewards screen.
· Spelling errors.
--Solution: Learned to spell.
--Status: FIXED
--Dev note: No longer is Rio the “Usty fighter”.
